  1. I'll add for the benefit of anyone reading this thread that if you're at all interested in the Hidden London events, or the London Transport Museum depot, well worth getting yourself on the mailing list for their newsletter! As well as obviously getting updates on new tours etc, you usually get to book tickets ahead of the actual release date.
  2. That’ll explain why I couldn’t power it from my iPad Pro’s USB-C power supply. I kind of figured it wasn’t negotiating the power requirements.
  3. When I saw that caption, I just knew it had to be Ghost.
  4. Personally don’t see this obsession with spinning everything off into its own app. I’d rather have the one app, rather than a load of new icons cluttering things up
  5. Just one of many I took at the weekend, but pleased with how some of my photos from Formula E have turned out. Not always easy photographing at circuits and temporary circuits can be even trickier!

    I can verify this too.
  7. And on the Amazon thick plastic bags, I had a book come in one, with damaged corners because it had loads of room to slide around in it. Probably a lot less likely in one of their normal cardboard sleeves
  8. Another one annoyed by Amazon’s sudden use of really horrid plastic Jiffy bags. Considering they’ve spent years using all cardboard, this is definitely a step backwards, and awkwardly timed too as more people have become aware of plastic use
  9. I’m debating coming. I arrive back from abroad on the Tuesday after a week off so wonder if the school would let me go
  10. That’s the one. Sorry, was replying quickly and didn’t have a chance to put the web address in!
  11. We’ve just bought Sign In App. £295 for a year but SIMS integration is an extra £180, plus it will write back to SIMS
  12. The “point for fastest lap but only if you’re in the top 10” comes from Formula E. For the first two seasons, everyone was eligible. However, in the last race of season 2 (I was there to witness this), the two title contenders (tied for points at the start of the race) crashed at turn 1. They limped back to the pits, jumped into their second cars and kept going in and out of the pits trying to set the fastest lap. So you had this farcical situation where the two drivers leading the championship were both messing around in last and second to last places trying to a) get the fastest lap and b) block the other one from getting fastest lap
  13. Shocked and incredibly upset by this news. Can’t quite believe it. F1 really will not be the same without him. And for it to happen now, awful.
  14. Can recommend Mail Rail! Not great if you’re not good with small spaces but it’s really fascinating. Wish it was longer!
  15. Yeah they do use a recyclable tarmac in places where they need to add in, but if it's just plain concrete inside the ExCeL, I don't think they'll bother. The cars seem quite happy to run on a mix of surfaces. As for elevation, it may well be. Montreal had a bit of a hill, I seem to remember.
  16. Formula E runs all weather tyres, but I’m wondering about the surface inside the exhibition hall. I hope it’s not a hard shiny floor! If it’s concrete, it should be slightly better even with the water being dragged in.
  17. I am a little worried about that, there will be large amount of the circuit not really accessible. At a guess, there'll definitely be stuff inside the ExCeL for the start/finish, maybe more stuff towards the back of the circuit where there's space past Prince Regent before it turns back to ExCeL.
  18. It's funny, the rumour about this has been going for nearly 3 years now, ever since they were forced to can the Battersea race. It'd all gone quiet but at BETT this year, I sat on the platform at Prince Regent looking at the road highlighted on the track map wondering where the circuit would have been. Hadn't realised it was going to become reality!
  19. Not sure how many of you watch Formula E, but they announced this morning that it'll be finally be returning to London, but with a very unusual circuit, running both inside and outside the ExCeL! It all sounds rather bonkers and I'm looking forward to it, especially having been there often for BETT etc! Initially I thought it would be using the car park underneath the building but from what I've seen from 3D maps, they'll be running into the south exhibition hall!
  20. Remember seeing one on the ground at an airshow with my Dad once upon a time and thinking "Wow, this thing is massive!". Kind of went against everything I thought about fast jets!
  21. And I’ve just remembered that my uncle once worked on the Tornado, I still remember him getting me the chance to look in the cockpit of one at Cottesmore.
  22. Sad about this. Grew up loving the Tornado, the Jaguar and the Harrier. Feels like the end of an era. Don't get me wrong, I love the Eurofighter Typhoon, but there will always been something special about these three.
  23. I think Airbus intended to make an A380F freighter version but nobody ever wanted it, so it was quietly shelved. Meanwhile, Boeing have the opposite problem with the latest 747 iteration, the 747-8. The passenger version isn't getting many orders but the 747-8F is apparently doing alright.
