  1. TY, gonna look into that later on today OT: Why not log in and just change settings to see what stays and what doesn't? You can use "windows 7 god mode" to easily access all the windows 7 tools... Create a new folder, name the folder "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and that fodler then contains all win7 tools - making it a lot easier to go through to see whats available.
  2. This via GPO? Students use Ctrl+Alt+Arrow keys ( or w/e the combination is) to change screen orientation and it's quiet annoying.
  3. We have Smart Notebook 11 crashing issues... here is what error I've found: will post any findings back here if I find any
  4. Thankyou very much!
  5. Hi, I have to upload a CSV of all students for a some web-app we are using. Im unsure how to get a list of all students with their tutor groups from sims? When I try to create a report from class lists it only gives me their lesson classes (5TY/Eng ... 5TY/IT ... 5TY/Art etc.) but im not sure whether they are mixed. I need just tutor groups. Anyone able to assist?
  6. aha, that looks great. Ill take a look when I come to sit down with this! TY or quick response!
  7. I want to create a Web Application which the users logs into with their active directory account and it then shows the users home folder to them on the page. (the user should then be able to delete, download and upload files. It's so that we can access our Active directory from chromebooks in school. Anyone have any experience with this? I've done some really basic research and looks possible with asp.net (never used before). Gonna look into this a bit later in the day - Once Ive got some other jobs done. Thanks
  8. Ive done this... I replaced the RAM and I plugged in a fan that was unplugged (the fan is attached to the part of the case which comes off.. so not sure if it was already unplugged or if i pulled it out) it now seems to be working. Ill see if I can get to the end of this network build! so far so good.. thanks for help
  9. Its an RM laptop - they said the beeps I described were not on the list. They have suggested I just confirm all hardware is working probably in tests (power supply/harddrive + ram) Im going to re-test the ram tomorrow then send off if needed.. really needed this laptop working but oh well
  10. I just sat in the bios for a few minutes while googling for an update... and then it started beeping whilst in the bios. Im still going to try a bios update - but dont feel like this is the way now ...
  11. Hi, so, a few weeks ago this laptop starting beeping when I was trying to rebuild it onto the network I run a disk check and the disk check showed a back sector at the exact same time as it starting beeping. I ordered a new drive, but this is an SSD (both sata connectors). Whether I try to install windows 7/linux from a disc or USB or whether I try a network build - i always get these beeps. even with the SSD. (the beeping sounds the exact same as before I changed the drive). It happends 2-3 minutes after booting up. any ideas why this laptop is doing this? battery seems to be charging still and it holds power. Hard Disk or SSD in laptop makes it beep. Im trying to find the old hard drive that was in the laptop to see if it actually did have bad sectors or if maybe it was a symptom of something else... here is a video of the beepi MAKE SURE YOU TURN DOWN YOUR SOUND https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiZF6A1EXE0&feature=youtu.be # also, the caps lock/num locks turn on and off with the beeping
  12. Yeah, i like the look of the solutions but I feel like its always way too much that comes with them. but im juist going for a simple standalone system, which essentials takes a picture of the screen adn sends it to the "master" every few seconds. We are already using monitoring systems on our PCs and Macs and use google for digital classroom stuff. Im gonna take up a trial though with impereo, it seems worth looking into. - - - Updated - - - So the teacher can sit at the front of the room and see what is on their screens without walking round the room...
  13. Hello all! Last year I looked into how to create a monitoring system for chromebooks. This was using Google extensions which is able to record the screen. And also using webRTC to send the data to the "master" chromebook. I didn't get very far and struggled to understand development of google extensions. I managed to record my screen and display it in a 2nd window - but never udnerstood any of it. Once my workload dies down I want to look into making this again, but figure I may as well plan/resarch it all first as I didn't do much resarch last time. Ideally, id like to have a system created which can then be shared with other schools. I think the transfering of data from the clients to the master can be done without a server... with webRTC I believe you can send the data directly to the master which makes set-up and maintenance a lot eaiser. So, im jsut wondering if anyone can give me advice on what languages I could use to create this and also how that would be done? so, what type of goole extension would I need and how do I actually send data over webrtc? or anything would help! Thanks
  14. When do you mean by interfering? Could you describe/explain what happens when you click something or type within IE?
  15. /Thread You Use "Get-MSolAccountSku" to get a list of names of license agreements...
  16. Hi there, I'm trying to create an account via powershell for office 365 using the "new-msoluser" cmdlet. I acn assign a license to the user with the "-licenseASsignment" option. The example text says "-LicenseAssignment "Contoso:BPOS_Standard" and according to google Contoso is a fictionional company that microsoft use in its examples.. Our license plan is called; " Office 365 Education for students" any ideas?
  17. Today, I had to replace a broken PC with a spare. So I took out the spare and saw that the last technician left a sticker on the side which says "TURNS OFF INSTANTLY". I vaguely remember that this PC use to turn itself off without any warning. I have no idea why we still have this PC and why it use to switch off by its self. But now I don't know what do with this PC. We are fairly short on spares so realyl want to have this PC usable. anyone know how i can test the power supply? i figure I may as well test power supply just to make sure its not the issue. hold on... is it actually possible for a power supply to be slightly faulty? Or are they either DEAD or ALIVE? thanks
  18. Good Morning All, Just a small question... Within the C Drive User folder on the server there are folders for 10-20 User Profiles of our teachers. They have never logged into the server and the only way that the server is connected to is through Windows RDP. I spoke to RM and someone mentioned to me casually (he said it doesn't matter that the users are in the folder so no need to "resolve" or anything) that it's because of the way that "compression" works. Not sure if he meant in the sense of compressing files to a zip or maybe something else. Possibly an RM thing? But was curious if anyone knew what was going on here and would be able to enlighten me as to why these users might of shown up on the server. Thanks!
  19. Have you checked to see if you notice anything in the event viewer logs on the pc? there might be something in there that will give some hints. also, some printers allow you to print off logs from the physical interface on the printer. These might help give you a clue?
  20. Hi, So, we have 50+ ipads in school and I need to: 1) Wipe them and re-format them 2) Log into Apple ID, Google and email 3) Download a few apps (Free ones) 4) Log into Google Drive App we are using Configurator and Meraki to manage them. I am just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way that I can use configurator to basicly log into all the accounts and download al lthe apps needed then just "re-image" it to the other ipads? This would also mean in the future they can be re-imaged when the kids have messed around with backgrounds/home screens/logins etc..
  21. Thanks for this. I thought I had it working - but then realised I didn't "search" When I select dates after september and click on search - its just comes up blank and shows no classes or staff. but this confuses me because I had someone already get me all the data from sims (at least i thought they did? They used reports to get this list of students that I aready have) and so I woulda thought they were on the system... Also, Shouldn't staff show up at least? Ill email around to find out more - Thanks again
  22. Hi all, So I have the task this week of getting all our systems ready for next year by moving classes up one year and setting up maths classes and stuff... But i haven o idea how to use sims to get the information I need. One of the ladies in the office gave me a excel with all of next years new starters, so i know this information is available somewhere. I would ask someone who uses sims - but literally no one is here in school this week except me. What I need is: Tutor Groups that every student will be in next year & What maths class every student will be in. anyone have idea how I would do this? I feel like its probably something in Reports? Also, I'm hoping to look into setting up RosterSync through the summer as well - which will require me to know more about sims. Thanks
  23. Both links for doubledriver are dead (dropbox and ubuntu one) on that site...but manged to find a download on techspot.. Great bit of software - worked perfectly! thankyou very much!
  24. Hi, Backstory: We bought a selection of new PCs, all of which have not been on our network before. I need to add the drivers for the hardware in the PCs to the network so I can build a WinPE build disk. (only need the network card driver though...) PC model: HP Z200 Network Card: Intel 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection I've been told by a colleage that I only need the .inf file to do this? I've downloaded network drivers from the HP website and from the Intel website where I then extracted the .inf from the .exe files using 7-zip... but its just not going well... Each PC has came with windows 7 installed by default - is there a way that I can just extract the .inf file for the network card from these windows 7 builds with all drivers still on there? -thanks!
  25. Looks like a nice app, but as we are using more than one VLAN and WLAN, I cannot use that app.. Also, i love that idea about using QR Codes above ^^, may have to suggest that to some teachers for lessons next year... -- In the end I figured out I had to: 1) update all ipads to latest ios (8.4 in this case) - They have to all be on same version 2) Log into icloud with same account 3) In Settings>Icloud>Photos, turn on the photo family option (the bottom option) 4) Create a folder in the SHARED tab in the default photos app on the ipad and insert all photos into that folder .(I Had to download all images onto a single ipad first, then move them into the "shared" folder which then syncs over all devices). Most annoying part of this was having to download all images onto the ipad via google drive 1 by 1. For w/e reason I couldn't drag and drop the images onto the iPad and I couldnt bulk download the images from drive :S - in fairness, it just hit me i could of used the app mentioned above for this stage >< thanks for suggestions!
