Hi, We have 40+ ipads and I have 90 photos which I want to be on every ipad. The purpose is so that pupils can use the 90 photos with an app (pic collage). Has anyone ever done anything like this and can recommend the best way of placing these photos on every ipad? I'm trying to share them through the photo stream by downloading them one by one onto the ipad from google drive - But this method takes AGES (as Google Drive only allows you to download 1 image at a time). Also, ive tried using the photo icloud sharing stuff - but cant seem to find a solution with this (im guessing because shared folders that you own, don't sync over device... and you cant share a folder with yourself so it shows on all devices).. any ideas?

oo nice. I have set up on my own and its worked. I seem to remember looking at this before and we chose to just do it by user rather than device in the end (think it was to more easily monitor people who waste paper/ink) anyway, all i can think of is the obvious troubleshooting things: Remove printers from Google Cloud Print Service, re add them then add to Device Settings again. - Test using different proxies (student + Teacher). Or even test from outside the school or from a personal hotspot on a phone - Make sure chromebook is up to date.

Im confused. Your post and the OP say that you have added printers via the google admin console? I didn't think this was possible? Also, the OP says that he shared the printers with the CHOMEBOOKS? I wasn't aware this was possible? Im sure that its only possible to share printers with users via distrbituion groups? EDIT: I've not used papercut, so thats probably where confusion is coming from?

Hi, We have a couple of Epson EB X20s in the school. A recurring problem is that the projectors seem to cut off the top half and part of the right hand side of the screen. It's not that often it happens (or at least I get told that it does) and if you turn the projector off ando n it works again.. I have no idea how it keeps happening, my troubleshooting has just begun! I can start testing hopefully around midday, so wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before? Maybe know what it could be? thanks!

Hi, Sicne I've been at this school (sept 2013) there has been an issue where the printers grey out and you can not print. The solution is to run a .bat file which just resets the spooler service. Does anyone the best way to montior/work out how many times a PC (or user) has run the printer refresh batch file. Im thinking either writing some code in the batch file which remotely records when a PC has run the file (workstations remotes onto server when batch is run_... or maybe through event logs? Can I remotely see when a file has been run? or something? My last resort would be to write it up in c# so I have a bit more power... but really want to stick with the batch file for permission issues and just for the sake of keeping it simple.

Thanks very much, I found the files and managed to view the regsitry.pol file with a pol viewer.. Unfortunately the contents of the SYSVOL folder are not backed up for some odd reason :/ thanks anyway :

Hi, Basicly, my question is... Where can I find the actual files of group policies. The Settings/config files? I want to know so that I restore(to a temp location) our group policy files from a month ago and then compare them to what we have now to look for differences. this is why... We are running on an RM CC4 network. Within the management console we have two user policy groups, One called Staff and one called CustomStaff. A few weeks ago I installed Google Chrome onto our network and with it, came some settings in our managment console so that we can set policies for google chrome. A little while after that we had issues where users lost their Profiles desktop and got set up with a shared desktop I had a thought that maybe when we installed Google Chrome package on the server that it reset some other policy settings with it I was told that it's only possible for an RM chrome package to alter the Staff user policy, not CustomStaff... But i suspect that CustomStaff has changed. So, i just want to check the policy settings from last month and see if they were different. IF they were, then I know it was probably the RM package that changed the settings. Thanks anyone that can help

Latest .net framework not seemed to help in any way I tried removing contents of softwaredistribution but hasn't helped something interesting though. The C Drive has got lots of folders with odd names and odd permissions. Could this possibly be a registry or path problem? Maybe windows isnt sure where to store stuff so its dumping it in C drive? (total guess lol). It's strange becasue some folders I can access, and others I cant. This all looks related though because one of the files "NDP40-KB2446708.msp" and that indicates its a windows update of some sort. Anyone experienced this befoer? Postimage.org / gallery - IMG 0163[1], IMG 0164[1], IMG 0165[1], IMG 0166[1] EDIT: im installing KB2446708 and KB2533523 becuase they appeared in some of these wierd folders. Both .net framework updates so, possibly linked in with what i read somewhere about it being a .net framework problem 2nd EDIT: KBxxxxx does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer - My gawd ... WTF is doing this?

Yah, i think im coming to the end of my troubleshooting and soon will just suggest a re-format, maybe over half terms. But first, I am now going to look at this from a different angle. The main goal right now is to get MS office 2010 (from CD) onto the laptop. I'm attempting to install it again now and see what errors show up. When I first tried (last week sometime) it was windows update not being up to date which caused the installation to not work. When this instlalation pops up an error ill post it on here.. EDIT: Im hoping, if I can figure out from errors which windows updates I need installed for MS office 2010, i can do them manually from the windows update catalogue thing thats online.. Don't think its proxy related. Never had issues with windows update before, even wit standalones and I've tried to do this update through 3G on my phone (exact same errors). I tried setting proxy through terminal though and still not getting any further

Nope, winsock reset (and laptop reset) not made any difference... I installed KB947821 successfully but still no difference... One thing I've discovered is that, if I go to Change settings (On windows update) and set it to not install any updates, press ok, then go back into settings and set to install all updates automatically, press ok, it gives me the error code 80072EFD. But if i then check for updates, it goes back to error code 80080005. I need to repeat that settings procudure to get error 80072EFD to appear. Im absolutely stumped... I really want to re-format this and just re-do it all.. but Its got 5 years worth of crap on there... Theres gotta be something I can do with this!!

ADWCleaner cleared off some more Malware, but im just stuck with error code 80080005. Im now attempting to try the "system update readiness tool for windows 7 (KB947821) to see if it works. These are screenshots from the WinUpdate Diagnostic fix tool. It looks to me like the problem is with services/programs that winUpdate depends on? rather than Windows Update itself? I think those steps just disabled my proxy... i went into internet options, re-enabled proxy and now im back to error code 80080005. Windows diagnostic fix didn't work, ill post SCreenshots shortly... im just trying ADWcleaner, see if it helps at all.

windows 7 Home Premium - Already on SP1 (aparrently SP2 doesn't exist for this).. although went through the steps below and now have code 80072EFD being given to me. Typed "net stop cryptsvc" into CMD prompt, - then "CD windows\system32"- then "ren catroot2 catroot3" EDIT: Disabled firewall and still receive 80072EFD

Hi, I have been given a teachers laptop to set up some software for her so she can work from home. However, I was having errors show up when I was installing MS Office 2010. So, My first thought was to take a look a windows update, and it says that it has NEVER had any updates installed. Even if i go onto update history, it opnly shows 1 updtae, and that was me installing latest definitions for MS security essentials. Most places online seem to suggest that its most likely a conflict which is happening. Ive removed some malware using malwarebytes anti-malware and a few crappy looking programs. (mainly those from 2010/2011 as i assuming its gonna somethnig thats always been on the laptop because its never updated) but the issue is continuing... Ive tried doing updates from somewhere not-in-school so its not behind a proxy, but no luck Any ideas for what I should try?

Hi, I found this free PC monitoring system called "italc" on google. I've tried installing the iTalc Master and management console on multiple laptops/PCs (windws 7, windows 8, linux mint, lubuntu) but its not working on anything.. On the linux machines, i cant seem to find the italc Managment console. It's installed but I cant find it on the system. And when I try to launch Italc Master it gives me an error saying: No authentication key files were found or your current ones are outdated. Please create new key files using the iTALC Management Console. Alternatively set up logon authentication using the iTALC Management Console. Otherwise you won't be able to access computers using iTALC. I click "OK" then it just closes the italc loading screen and icon from the tray instantly. On windows 7 and windows 8 it gives me the error which says that it "cannot contact local italc services". Ive searched google and on EduGeek, but cant find the solution. One poster who had the same issue on their windows 7 machine, said they solved the issue saying the issue was ACL permissions? -Thanks

Wow, nice. Thats the sorta thing I want to build! so, is your system all being run from the ONE machine? It just remotely gets the information it needs? Or have you created something thats installed on all machines?

Played with WMI and powershell - EXACTLY what i needed and better from what Ive seen so far. I played with it last night, but today gonna try to make a program which gets the PCs memory usage. The main thing that I'm strugglnig with is getting information about CPU temperature and that sort of thing... But for now i've got enough that i can ply with it.

Hi, For a while now i'v wanted to create a small system which gathers data from windows 7 PCs around our school... Data I want to be monitoring would be things like: CPU Temperature, Memory/CPU Usage, Catch Specific Events from Event veiwer (or even if it did a school-wide check every morning.. or even, a different batch of PCs every morning to avoid slowing down network ro sumin, instead of catching), Processes running, and anything else that I might think of as time goes on.... Im not a guru at this stuff, so Im just working with what I know from college really. All I can think of to get started with this is having a Mysql database to store the data in, then I could easily display that on a website. But I have no idea what programming lanugage to use or the best way to write programs which takes this data and then sends it to the DB. so, to start with anyone know a good language I could write these programs in? Something I can run in the background on windows 7, do the things above and send he data to a sql database (on the sam networkO) -Thanks

Letting students run anything as an administrator isn't the best idea... Why do you want this emulator? We intend to use App Inventor next year, but hopefully we are goign to get 5-10 android tablets for them to test their apps on. we think that by using shared devices in the lesson it should help to make it a more "social" and enjoyable lesson with lots of collaboration..

Oh, okay. So i think the confusion ive had is i thought the "transparent proxy" is set up on the switch (so like.. i imagined a "configure proxy for VLAN ID 20" textbox for the main switch and you would give it a proxy URL). It sounds like the transparent proxy is a system set up on the proxy server itself? That would explain why I remember there being talking of "opening" ports when it was being set up.. Ill give them a call after lunch and post back.
