Recommendation for WiFi and current issues with Meru
DalekSec replied to loxford01's topic in Wireless Networks
Unifi - Cheap but lacks a lot of features, SSID limit etc., can be run on a cloud key (not recommended though for large schools) Ruckus - Slightly more expensive but does anything you want it to do, need a powerful-ish controller I've not used any other Wi-FI solutions but i'd stick with Ruckus if i could. (new place is fully unifi and no scope to change) -

Poor mans Daim Bar -
Depends on the monitors you buy, the ones that tend to use a barrel connector tend to have the power brick externally (then plug kettle into the brick) Weirdest one i've had recently is monitors with a clover leaf plug! Even the supplier didn't know as they sent them with kettle leads.

Think you can get a Anker 535 set with Solarpanels, I mean the setup isn't ideal but if you have 0 way of getting power there then its the best that will do! If it doesn't work well then hopefully someone will pull their finger out and run a cable Edit: If they don't mind noise you could get a petrol generator which will last aslong as your fuel reserves! Just turn on when needed* *Dont do this

No Wi-Fi is going to handle 150m outside and still have a workable connection, you will need some sort of power in the cabin to power an AP and either a PTP link or fibre connection.

MIL sat in the back of the car the other day without belt on, said 'You don't need to wear a belt in the back' Crashes must of been a lot slower in her day

Depends on your server CPU, if you have a ton of cores/thread then go ham. If not a lot 1/2 per machine unless higher load (e.g ruckus used to need 6+ IIRC)

How's your setup? Desktop, laptops etc cloud or on-site? E.g our staff can access all of those without need for Remote access as all our files are on Sharepoint and OneDrive. They all have company issued Laptops also. Only thing they need to VPN on for is a DB that only a handful need access to

Morning All, We have a stock order form that uses a macro, which means it can't be loaded in the webview. When downloaded Office see's it as a untrusted file and blocks the macros, meaning no one can order stock. There is a quick workaround of Properties > Unblock. (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/i-want-to-unblock-macros-on-a-single-file-and-the/5a2c9474-7641-44ac-9f79-f213ff78dd95#:~:text=Open%20Windows%20File%20Explorer%20and,Unblock%20checkbox%20and%20select%20OK.) But not easy to use in the field. Anyone know how i can easily allow a single file to be allowed without the need to unblock it? Have another issue with it not working on iPads as doesnt work with the Macro... but Accounts don't want to remove the macro (which is a drop down) Thanks Alex

Last suite update i did was Big Sur to Monetary, (no longer in Edu), but used to do the MacOS upgrade every summer for 4-5 years

With MacOS, In suites i've always done a wipe before updating the OS. Mainly as gives the device a fresh start, might be worth wiping one to see you're able.

Not fixed AC2 error, but have a workaround by using the Apple Configurator App on an iPhone/iPad instead of on a Mac

Always wondered what those were for! Kept seeing them around.

Aruba Core to Ubiquiti Edge switches - VLAN 1 issue
DalekSec replied to Techie-Tech's topic in Wired Networks
I always thought it was best practice not to use VLAN 1, due to various security reasons. It might be better to move anything on VLAN 1 to a new VLAN ID. -
