  1. In 10+ Years of using a laptop which I take home every night for work, I've left it at home a grand total of....... 0 times. Unsure how people are able to forget probably their must vital teaching aid!
  2. +1 for silent.exe --slient always worked via SCCM. A gotcha is to make sure that NO office product is running on the device. As this causes it to fail (adobe reader plug-in fails)
  3. Ah yes, Russia*, that country with a well known record of maintaining nuclear reactors *Yes i know it was the USSR but tomato tormato
  4. We have 2 currently (long story) Unifi - Easy to use and setup, cheaper Dahua - Security Company setup, slower but has way more features.
  5. Is an NVR technically a server? We are serverless here but have 2 NVRs Dahua, Unifi etc all have rack mountable NVRs or Standalone. Just need a lockable office/cupboard to put it in. Personally i wouldn't like a cloud based NVR, can't be cheap for storage alone!
  6. We had similar after lock down, students in over countries etc (boarding school). Did it with teams, webcam pointing at board and sharing screen seemed to do the job. From GDPR point of view i believe my manager at the time looked into and ok'd it.
  7. Been in IT 10 years and only ever had 1-2-1 Laptops for teachers. Modern way of doing it is using Intune / OneDrive / SharePoint to make everything easily accessible at home and on site. Obviously includes additional costs but Microsoft licensing is heavily discounted for Schools
  8. It's Office 365, not 366, so today is it's day off
  9. Coco-pops, with a spoon full of crunchy peanut butter.
  10. Now i want to lick a battery
  11. Damn i'm put off but the shear price of them!
  12. I'd go with your advise on batteries given you avatar!
  13. I tend to go brand on anything that might have a tendency to explode
  14. ...But they have a download button when loaded? (well the Doctor who one i did when i opened it, S1 E13)
  15. I can't remember sorry, been cloud only for last 2-3 years...
  16. Was coming here to recommend same show!
  17. I started my current job the same day as Liz Truss became PM... i outlasted the lettuce
  18. Last time i saw Publisher being used was 4 years ago by our DT Dept. Who since then moved away from it...
  19. Mosyle, if you have more money than sense then Jamf
  20. Intune / W11 / Autopilot is great from scratch, not great if you have a legacy environment with tons of GPOs
  21. Still get prompted for admin login details, not a yes/no just stops screen from going black when it pops up.
  22. Yes, you have to push out a config change: For traditional GPO it's Security Settings | Local Policies | Security Options | User Account Control | Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation to Disabled For Intune it's: Configuration Policy | Endpoint Protection | Local device security options | User account control. | Route elevation prompts to user’s interactive desktop to Enabled.
  23. Quick Assist, free and built into Windows
  24. I have a grand total of 0 room to put a desktop. The only room i have is taken up by my 3D printer. (which still wouldn't be room for a monitor!). In middle of selling the house, hopefully new one we get going to have an office room but depends a lot on what we can get for our money. Edit: Suppose i could get a SFF to stick behind the TV to play RTS games on... and get wireless mouse and keyboard.
