  1. My uncle has a massive one on his back, had an 8 hour session for the outline, then was due for 2 x 8 hour sessions to colour and shade, but in the day he could only afford the first colour/shading session as he was laid off. Shame, because it's a beautiful tattoo, but needs finishing.
  2. See poll here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/69078-whats-your-longest-tattoo-sitting.html
  3. Carrying on from this thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/69076-24-days-go-im-starting-get-nervous.html I thought I'd start a poll. So if you've been tattooed before please tell me (via poll) what the longest sitting you had was. Also, if you want to post and tell me how it went etc that'd be good too.
  4. Well I can't show any pics as it's a bespoke piece and is still being designed by the artist. But of course I will post up pics after I've had the work done. As for giving the design away, I don't want to try and explain it and would rather wait to show pics when it is done. I was hoping someone could come along (maybe Domino haha) and tell me "don't worry, it'll not be as bad as you think" or "i wouldnt recommend that long a sitting". Has anybody gone that long under the needles? If you have a tattoo, what is the longest you have gone in one sitting?
  5. In 24 days I'll be sat down in the tattoo studio, and I'm starting to get anxious/nervous about the whole thing. I've had tattoo's before, and as many of you know I have even tattooed myself a couple of times, but never anything on this scale. I'm getting a half back tattoo (top to middle, full width) and it's an 8 hour session. I can't wait, but I'm also nervous about how it's going to feel in the 6th and 7th hour! I've had a tattoo on the top of my back, and it felt a lot easier than when I got my arm done, and I just hope the rest of my back feels the same. Also, the design has a lot of shading, and strangely I find outline needles easier to take (most people I speak to about this prefer shading needles). iPod, book, and plenty of hard sweets I think!
  6. Was watching air crash investigation a while a go, and it said on most commercial air craft a little fan popped out below the plane which produced enough power for vital systems and engine restarts. Clever stuff
  7. To be fair though, I reckon there's a lot more there for SEN staff to see than data managers. I got a shock at how much stuff was aimed at the SEN area.
  8. You know, I saw EduTech eyeing up these ladies, and it didn't take long for him to head over there. Fair play young man! And how rude?!
  9. I suppose I should look at the bright side. If school want to give me £300 for a machine so I can play football manager all day then I shouldn't really complain should I?
  10. I was driving home the other night when I saw someone walking to the local store in PJ's, slippers, and a dressing gown. She was about 20 years old, and obviously a chav, but what is the world coming to?!
  11. Okay then, who is this lively character?
  12. It has indeed, how I missed that post I'll never know!
  13. Yeah, I'm just curious who it was. This was the lady that sorted my lanyard out, and now curiosity is getting the better of me. I don't know who is manning the stand (I only spoke to Vik, Chris, James, and this lady and now my curiosity is killing me!). It can't be little-miss as she only went today, I'm not sure if it could be witch (but if it is then I imagined you completely wrong), and other than that I'm not sure which members of EduGeek are female. EDIT: Just a thought, but it can't be witch right? I thought witch had ginger hair?
  14. More like EduNosying When I buy another train ticket tonight so I can go see her again tomorrow is when we call it EduStalking!
  15. Okay, it's annoying me now, so can anybody please tell me who this is?
  16. So if they are getting a set budget to put towards their computer (say £300) it would be easier from a management point of view to go out and buy 30 x £300 laptops. If the two options are a) give £300 for someone to buy a computer or b) spend the £300 on a computer for them then I'd pick B all day, every day.
  17. But one could argue that you NEED clothes to do your job - you can't do it naked. Should work pay for these also? I'm just trying to play devil's advocate here so don't read into my comments too much - just trying to get a decent discussion about this going.
  18. Ah yes, I recall arriving at BETT after a long tube journey from Earls Court to Olympia, packed in like hens we were. I was hot and dehydrated from the journey, but I was determined to find the EduGeek stand. I made the long walk to row G. I was getting close, but I was also growing weary. Was that the famous EduGeek crew I could see on the horizon? Or was it a mirage? I prayed to the EduGods and continued on, hoping that my mind wasn't playing tricks with me. After many moons had been and gone, I eventually drew close on the stand, and there in all His glory was Dos_Box, the EduGod, with his hand outstretched holding a bottle of water. I was saved, and reborn as an EduGeek, and I shall forever spread the good word of the holy book, EduBible (available for download on your kindle now!).
  19. Should the IT team support these devices then? How does insurance work? There's a lot of questions to be asked. How do you deal with possible data leaks etc.
  20. How do you recover 2007?
  21. In my spare time I've been getting to grips with the XNA Game Studio provided by Microsoft, and have come up with a fairly tacky but equally fun 2D top down space shooter. Thing is, I'm using a simple circle for the player, a square for the enemy (asteroids), and a 'B' shape for any bonuses. So, if anyone would like to create some graphics for the game that'd be great, and would be a sure fire way to get into the credits of this massive blockbuster title! Anyhow, if you have time and are up for the job the following graphics I need are: Player (some kind of wicked spaceship) Projectile (something that that player shoots, like a cool laser or something) Enemy (I'm thinking asteroids, but if you have a better idea then great) Bonuses (so far I have extra life, extra time, auto-fire, and 2 guns instead of 1 bonuses) Also, I have designed the game for 800 x 600, so a cool intro screen and game over screen in that resolution would be wicked too.
  22. You've basically said that staff should buy their own home machines - a lot of staff do that already, and a lot of what you said should be in place already happens. The post is about whether staff should have to buy their own PC for use at work.
  23. That's one argument, but to shine a different light look at it from the point of view of network manager/technician. 100 members of staff, each buying their own computer. You are potentially looking at 100 different bits of kit that needs to be managed. It's not an easy job when all your machines are the same make/model/spec, let alone when you'd have 100 different makes/models/specs. EDIT: Then what happens when you get the '3 years from retiring teacher' who turns around and says he's not going to waste his hard-earned money on something that the school should provide? Does the school provide him with an old workstation? Does the school expect him not to use a computer for that last 3 years of his working life? Or does the school give in and buy him a new computer, with others to follow complaining of it not being a fair process? It's a can of worms in my opinion.
  24. Hmmm, another great read from the BBC. Whatever will they think of next?! BBC News - Should employees buy their own computers? Thoughts?
