Hi, I used to know of a bit of software that when you booted it used to check all the hardware in your machine and report back if anything was found. I cant for the life of me remember what its called now. It wasn't cheap but im thinking of buying a personal licence for it. Any ideas of this product or anything similar?

Hi, Would like to install the chrome ADMX file but as sool as I put it in I cant see anything else in administrative templates other than chrome. Is there any way to see both the default and chrome administrative templates? Many thanks. update. Finally did the correct google search and found tha you would need to copy policies of a windows 7 machine. Sound too risky. Will be deleting the policydefinitions folder and just sticking it on the server.

. I know. I was thinking, 7-8 years ago even we would call someone saying that a show off but these days its normal. We think we have problems. I don't think we would know what to do if we went to some of these places you see on TV.

Just tried connecting up the ps3 to a 32" tv round my mums as I'm looking after the dogs but had to turn it off. Trying to play destiny on it is impossible. You can't see anything. Found the same on BF4. I get half the score as i do with the projector. Just winds me up. Anyone still on a 32" screen. Once you got 84" there's no going back.

WPAD.dat Web Server DHCP Done Ive tried registry edits, GPO edits but loving this way. Really easy if staff want to take laptops home as you don't need scripts to remove it.

Now have the whole site covered with 21 Unifi UAP's. Cant fault them. Put them in few weeks ago. Just upgrading them all. Click the roll update button and its great watching them go down one at a time to update and watching which AP the computers move to. I need to get a life I know. So much better than changing setting on each point manually.

Safe to run virtualbox on Domain Controller?
DCUK6 replied to DCUK6's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Cheers guys. Might just wait until summer then and get esxi on the other server that will be wiped. Have got this server just for the DC. Didn't want any virtual machines but was thinking of temporarily running a wsus server on it. Will be patient. -
Cheers all. That's my thoughts just though I would ask to make sure I wasn't alone in thinking this.

Hi, I have been asked if I could take a person for work experience. He's 20year old but has no DBS(CRB). There is just me in the ICT department so toilet breaks would mean leaving him at the desk. Its a special school dealing with learning difficulties. I've been asked if this is ok by the head but its not me that should be deciding I don't think and I haven't a scoobie anyway. Want to return a email with some sort of answer that they can confirm. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi All, Joined this school where everyone remotes into the server to do their work. Have plans to change this in the summer but need to keep this system going for now. Do you know of a program that can set processor affinity and priority on processes? Tried bill2's but it just crashes on 2008 R2. Tried process hacker but its manual.

Hi, SIMS is held on the councils server. Our curriculum machines have been allowed access to the database's so teachers can access. We are now looking at installing Discover on the curriculum machines. It is installed on the councils server as the admin use it and im just waiting to receive the database name but they are busy at the mo and havnt received it yet. I know SIMS uses the connect.ini file. Any idea what Discover uses to store the location of the database? Thanks

Had this at my last place. Happened only on the laptop usb3. Desktop usb3s installed correctly. Never found the answer but didn't look a great deal. Just called it a extra security feature.

Thanks both for your suggestions. Spent all morning tidying up the room so I can get in. Found the side and back panels for the rack so they can go back on. Think it will have to be a combo of extractor and portable AC unit. Might try and find something similar to the srcool12k that I found on the us forum. 18c outside. Bottom Server running at 33c at the mo.

Hi. Started at a new school a few weeks ago and the servers are located in a room with an open window and one of the air vent bricks ( brick with holes in it). Have 3 servers in there and it's got so hot at some point that a card in one of the servers has melted and hanging down. Looking for some sort of cooling that can reduce the temperature. Thought about one of the wall extractor fan kits you get for tumble dryers as they are cheap and extracting out of the top of the cabinet and out through the wall and keeping the windows open for incoming air. Also looking into some sort of air con for the rack/room but not sure what would be best. Budget is a couple of hundred tops unfortunately. Any ideas/recomendations on AC units?

Hi, Have a Server 2003 machine that has a number of this on it including exchange, just started here so trying to get my head round it. Trying to add a new SSL certificate in and ran a check and it came back with a different certificate. Typed https://address and it's coming back as IIS 7 welcome page. HTTP:// comes back with the mail server. Any ideas?
