  1. About 1200 pupils and 500 workstations, me plus half-time tech who has been away for several weeks, and thank heck it's Friday...
  2. (...ah, think I've found what I was thinking of now. Flexprofiles.) Immidio | Flex Profiles
  3. Sorry to add yet another thread on profiles, but there are so many I can't find the one I want... Some time ago someone posted up a link to a program that kind of bridged the gap between roaming and mandatory profiles. I think it involved some trick with the Application Data folder (I know there are problems simply redirecting this.) Ring any bells...?
  4. What would be the easiest way to do that...?
  5. If I create a new document in Word and click "File...Save As", it defaults to my home folder. But if I click a Word attachment in the web-based Easymail client, choose "Open", and then "Save As", it defaults to: C:\Documents and settings\[username]\Local settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\[stuff like 0XOF7Lq6]
  6. All pupils here have RM Easymail email accounts. When they click attachments to open them, then click "Save" without looking where they're saving them, they go into some temporary folder in their profile which gets deleted when they log off. Wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and come up with a simple fix...?
  7. Don't they all do that?

    SIDs and Sysprep

    Oh, OK...thanks!

    SIDs and Sysprep

...hang on a minute though, if it was necessary to run Sysprep anyway, what use was NewSID...?

    SIDs and Sysprep

Sorry if this has been covered, but the withdrawal of NewSID has left me confused. If SID duplication isn't a problem, is there still a need to run Sysprep after imaging a networked Windows XP PC...?

  12. You won't be shelling out a grand for a Sidstation then...? [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elektron_SidStation[/ame]
  13. What piece of software exasperates and infuriates you like no other?
  14. Someone's just asked me to get a quote to upgrade our Macromedia Studio 8 site licence today. (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash). We also have about 30 ancient concurrent Photoshop 4 Elements licences, and would like an upgrade to Movie Maker. (Premiere Elements?) Any recommendations for a good value bundle?
  15. ...what do you get for the other ports listed in the original post...? In the end I decided that EdExcel tech support were leading me up a blind alley with this. The system is working OK now and that port you mention is still showing Filtered, so it may not matter. What's the problem that you're finding at the moment...? How far can you get...? (I previously tested connectivity between ESM Server and EdExcel by logging onto ESM and locking and unlocking tests. I think my undoing may have been that I hadn't installed the Administrator software along with ESM Server on the management workstation. I think you also need to make sure that cookies are enabled - I've added catglobal.com under Privacy...Sites...Allow in Internet Explorer).
  16. ...just been asked to make about 30 copies of a DVD. Bit of a chore, though I've avoided splashing out on an automatic copier in the past because it seemed too extravagant. What's the best solution to this kind of request...?

    Hard time

Common to feel down after moving house at any stage in life. Something hard-wired into the circuitry I think. You'll feel better soon.
  18. ...found free Treesize too limited, so have been using Windirstat. But it's a bit dull, so I might try that SpaceSniffer thing. This dude prefers it. Best Free Disk Space Analyzer
  19. ...yeah, we ended up shelling out about £70 each for a load of these sheets of plastic that you have to sellotape in place. Reediculous.
  20. Is this it?
  21. What a stupid waste.
  22. No, that's what cupboards are for.
  23. That's a very large USB stick. It's a neat projector though...I want one...! http://www.multitech.com.cy/New%20Products/PK-101%20OPTOMA.jpg
  24. I guess you could try disabling any other sound devices if this is the only one they need. There are some script suggestions here but they look a bit complicated - must be an easier way... There's a couple of utilities to simplify the process of switching audio devices here. Still not exactly what you're after though. *edit* Using the command line options in QuickSoundSwitch is probably the best script-based workaround. http://www.quicksoundswitch.toflo.de/eng/index.html
  25. What's playing in your office? I'm catching up with some Kraftwerk. Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der Autobahn... http://www.madschool-kobe.com/recommend/images/album/kraftwerk-autobahn.jpg
