Hmm..baffling mix of people reporting this same error in different scenarios, without too many clear answers. Doesn't seem specifically an ActivPrimary issue though. One general verdict is "Typically this error indicates that the Installshield engine is broken. Not sure what version the installation requires, but most installation routines come with the necessary engine. For complete troubleshooting information, please see this link provided directly from InstallShield.com" Q107052: ERRDOC: Run-Time Error 1608

...seems similar errors can be associated with privileges and conflicting background tasks among other things. Maybe ensure you're logging on as local admin and quit any virus scanners etc...

  4. For some daft reason, someone in the past set up two of our school IT suites (Music and Media Studies) on different physical networks, with their own unique server and domain name. I'm wondering if I'm letting myself in for any problems if I connect them up to the main network by patching the relevant network switches. (These rooms aren't even on the Internet at the moment.) I've been warned that I should disable DHCP on these extra servers in order to stop them spreading IP addresses from their own strange ranges onto the rest of the school, but are there any other nasty side-effects I should be aware of...? (At some point I need to integrate them all properly, but at the moment I'm just looking for a quick fix to register some new music software via the Internet without repatching individual PCs. Everything's Windows Server 2003 / XP clients.)
  5. ...ages since I used it; I expect someone here can put you on the right track, but I seem to remember that it's fairly straightforward - just a matter of running a Restore job, opening up the section containing the mailboxes, and ticking the one you want...(I presume this will leave any new existing emails for that user in place, though I couldn't swear to it.)
  6. What are you using...? Backup Exec Exchange Agent or something...?
  7. Don't suppose you have a backup of the mailbox from before it was archived...?
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions. I hadn't spotted that you can get the info from the Object tab of the item's properties window...
  9. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but it's puzzling me... If you do a search for a user in Active Directory, and it finds the record, how can you tell whereabouts in the structure that entry is...? The only available fields for the search results seem to be things within the properties for the user, and not things about the container it's in...
