How do I change the data set displayed in Eportal...?
-
I usually avoid colour inkjets whenever possible, but the HE Dept has one it uses for printing out designs on special paper and ironing them onto fabrics. I'm currently looking at a streaky HP Deskjet F2180, thinking there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it, and wondering if there's a model out there that lasts more than 5 minutes. (Preferably with a built-in scanner and colour photocopy button.)

OK...thanks people...

Quick question for you graphics types. If you were working on a half-page magazine ad, what resolution would be sensible to avoid pixelated text etc...? They've said they can take most filetypes (mentioned JPG and PDF) - what would be best...? (It'll probably be prepared in Photoshop CS.)

See if you can use it to get a simple app like Explorer to load on the server. (Couldn't even get this far when I just tried it - I think Symantec or DEP or something might be interfering with it.)

Now that's handy...(also a quick way to add something unusual and then search for it to see where your system seems to have hidden it).

Sounds like you might not have eradicated Conficker. You might try the Microsoft removal instructions on one of the affected PCs as an experiment (seems to involve killing scheduled tasks.) Virus alert about the Win32/Conficker.B worm

Seems you can redirect it with TweakUI, and maybe with a registry tweak in the logon script. Not sure how you'd do it through Group Policy though. How to redirect Special folders in Windows XP Strange you can't see the Send To folder in the usual place. Could try searching the local machine for it, or the floppy shortcut it seems to contain.

That's a good idea. They get destroyed here as well.

What's the error message?

Do you get something like General...Printing Preferences...Paper/Quality...Source and Type in the properties...? I'm not really sure what you're trying to do - what's the problem with the current setup...?

Did you try the EZ GPO Tool that dtakias suggested...? I didn't know this was possible with standard Server 2003 Group Policy settings - is this an extended set...? If so can you post a link...?

If someone has a minute, could they see if they can play the videos on this site...? TF1 la chane de tlvision - TF1 Thanks!

Maybe you could use a logon/logoff script with commands to enable and disable them. Eg, enable/disable screensaver: Using registry shortcuts to disable and enable screen savers in Windows XP Question about Windows XP Screen Saver, Power Manager and Command Line Interface - Operating Systems Manage power saving: Powercfg Command-Line Options

Can you generate a remote popup for a given user that way...?

Thanks - I'm doing that, but I wanted to customise the message. For future reference, this guy seems to have nailed it. Disk Quota Notifications (Using Script) Not Working : Microsoft, Windows Server 2003, 2003, Storage Server * * * * *

The link doesn't seem to work anymore...has anyone got a good solution to this...?

Thanks for the comments. I just got an email from Tech Support saying "You would need to go to downloads | training | system administration and there is a zip file with the DB in", but I don't see it on the Firstline website. I don't even see that heading.

...have you tried manually mounting the ISO from a network drive, as you suggest, to see if that works...? And if so, have you tried mapping a drive directly to a folder containing a copy of the CD...? (I wouldn't have thought that would look any different to the client, but it's easier to configure.)
-
Rather than mount the ISO on a particular drive, it might be easier to map the drive to a network share containing the extracted files. Years ago I had a bunch of awkward software like this, and set up batch files that would clear a particular drive letter (J), map it to a share ("net use"), and then run the software from there.

I'm trying to set up some standalone installations of Serco around the place but I don't have any training data. (Our existing MIS data hasn't been migrated yet.) I called tech support and was told that they don't have, and can't supply, training data - even though the trainer at a recent session seemed to expect us to have it already. Any thoughts? Or better still, any Access databases...?!

Would the VGA work if the projector was switched off though...? Would also need long VGA cables back from a ceiling-mounted projector to the desk, and splitters are relatively cheap after all.
