OK, thanks for checking. Seems OK in Google Chrome as well, though Chrome and Firefox both agree on the space between the top two entries which didn't exist in IE. I'll keep meddling...

I don't regard myself as a web-design expert by any means. I just do my best as a self-taught Dreamweaver user. However, I thought I'd got the school website looking reasonably OK, until I switched to Firefox. Now I find gaps opening up between the rows of the main menu which looks a bit rubbish. Eg, note the gap between "Welcome" and "Headteacher" on the front page, and the way the menu skips about, eg by clicking between "Business" and "PE" on the "Subjects" page. This all looks fine in IE7. I know it's difficult to say without seeing how I've set it up, but I was just wondering if anyone could guess what the problem might be...? Some incompatibility between IE and Firefox on the tables front, or issues with Firefox and Dreamweaver 8. Is it the same whether you send email to the distribution list internally or externally...? I'm wondering if it's this... Q) I have a distribution list on our Exchange server that contains internal mailboxes and external email address (contacts). When I send email to this distribution list internally, the email gets delivered to both internal and external address. The problem is when I send email from an outside account to the same distribution list, the email gets delivered to the internal mailboxes but NOT to the external email address (contacts) A) Are the external contacts set to only accept mail from authenticated users only? (it's a check box which needs to be unchecked in Exchange General tab > Delivery Restrictions button. Also make sure "Accept messages from everyone" is selected. If the authenticated users only option is enabled, it would cause the problem you're seeing since when you send it internally, you're authenticated. However externally you're just one of the many addresses on the internet and aren't considered authenticated. If that doesn't sort it, just send the message via OWA or configure outlook with RPC over HTTPS and do it that way. If I click the "Open in your default media player" link on that page, it opens up Windows Media Player and plays some audio about dockers. I've previously found this sometimes helps with reluctant media links: 1) Run Media Player standalone 2) Go to "More Options", "Player" tab 3) Make sure "Connect to the Internet" is ticked ...then try again...

Might be some kind of intermittent fault on the speakers. I'd try using a different set and see if the problem persists.

I've always worked on a need-to-know basis, relying on Googling anything I need to find out, and evading the task of sitting down to work methodically through training materials. (Well, I did try and read the MCSE Server 2003 manuals once, but quickly got bored and gave up.) But I've recently been caught out a couple of times on things where I ought to have known better (eg getting confused just now that permissions changes on the "Creator Owner" account didn't seem to stick, until a quick search revealed that it works differently through some special-permissions fudge.) So...am I the only lazy fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type around here or are there more of us?

One of the staff is about to bunk off to Rwanda for a few months and wants to take a lightweight laptop with them. I think they've got ideas about blogging and stuff, probably surfing the net, a bit of wordprocessing. I'm interested in these ultraportable/netbook type things but I've not seen them up close and personal yet. Does an Asus EEE PC1000 sound a suitable thing for the job? What can't they do? She's not likely to be working with 40-column spreadsheets or playing Grand Theft Auto.

I never like chucking stuff away when it's broken. I accumulate piles of junk. For instance, right now I'm looking at some anonymous Dell flatscreen dated Feb 2006 which won't turn on, and a Benq MP620 projector with a dodgy display. Do I just add these to the scrap pile for some recycling company to take away? Does anyone fix stuff anymore?

I hate and detest the Microsoft clipart organiser. As far as I'm concerned, by far the easiest way to get hold of a clipart picture is by a Google image search for whatever it is you want followed by the word "clipart". But people here have been pestering me to get the Microsoft clipart thing working for a while now; results seem to be all over the place on individual machines, so here we go...*sigh* I've been trying to follow the instructions at: How to share Clip Organizer clips among people who have access to the same network ...to create a new centralised clipart suppository, based on the Office 2003 one, somewhere on the network for all clients to look at. Basically this outlines creating a new blank collection, copying the clipart files into it, editing the keywords etc. But in my case, I want to make the standard collection available, which is keyworded already. And at the bit where I'm dragging the existing contents of: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\CLIPART ...into a new blank collection, this info gets lost. I'm at Step 3 No. 7. I'm confused. And annoyed. Help!

I've recently started using psshutdown to switch off groups of computers at the end of the day. But I'd prefer not to shut down any computers that are logged in. Methinks a bit of scripting with psloggedon will be necessary. Anyone set things up like this...?
