When I took over at my 3 sites, none of them had a core switch and the layer 2 switches were unmanaged Netgear switches. (One site even had ONLY 10/100 switches!) I've since installed Meraki MS250 layer 3 switches and slowly replacing the layer 2 switches with MS120 or MS225 where possible.

Why not change the booking, or if you can't do that, simply tell the finance team that the day will be pointless based on the current booking and to let you book some new tickets.

It's not macOS that is the issue. It's iOS. Some older iPads only support iOS 9 or below. The devices need to support iOS 11 for manual DEP enrollment to work (via Apple Configurator 2.5).

The Apple Configurator 2.5 method will only work if you have an iPad that supports iOS 11. (iPad, 5th generation and later; iPad Mini 2 and later). If you have anything older than this, then I'm afraid you're stuck. I have a few iPad 2 devices here and there which weren't registered and there doesn't appear to be any way to register them at all now.

I'll be going every day as per usual and this year, I'll be presenting at the Teaching Theatre on the main Google stand (C230) on Saturday 26th January at 12pm! I'll be briefly telling the story of our MATs journey to the cloud with G Suite for Education and also sharing some basic steps on how to get started with digital transformation and shaping your digital strategy. That's the thing with these services, they are using so many hidden URLs that aren't so obvious. As you've listed in your later posts, "Outlook/Hotmail/Office 365 Mail" is hardly using outlook.com at all. If anything, the sign in page itself is https://login.microsoftonline.com or in some cases live.com. Also, if there are any firewall rules being blocked, then these won't appear in your WebScreen results. If you want to be really granular, than each to their own, but imo, you'd be better off and saving yourself much aggro by unblocking Web Email for staff and asking Atomwide to open all necessary ports on your firewall for Office 365. Also, if you want to use Word on an iPad using Office 365, would you not want to also allow OneDrive in order for the user to save the files to the cloud as opposed to on the device? This also kinda proves @psydii's point about Block > Allow. Although the similar URLs exist in categories you have allowed, they will be blocked because the precedence to block rather than allow is usually seen as the safer option.

What will be interesting is how to handle Gmail once we start using it fully with pupils. We migrated from StaffMail to Gmail this summer, so at the moment, my staff users have to do the following: Gmail is blocked on the default category (Student) Staff have to visit https://block.lgfl.org.uk and then authenticate using their USO Staff can then access Gmail The trouble is, there is no stopping whether it is corporate Gmail accounts or personal. I'm not too fussed with staff, but there doesn't appear to be a way to block students from accessing personal Gmail accounts either once we allow students to use Gmail for G Suite, because how would the filtering distinguish between corporate and personal Gmail?

It might be more prudent to unblock the whole category for staff as there may be many URLs that you will need to end up unblocking. It might be worth raising a call with Atomwide and asking them to unblock anything related to Office 365. If you don't have luck with Atomwide, call the LGfL Office and ask to speak to Jose Kingsley, who is the Office 365 lead for LGfL, who may be able to help you further.

Continue to try to be a lot healthier, controlling my portions, learning to have patience with my food. Lost 1.5 stone so far in a month doing just that. And this is exactly why it worked. Getting our users to understand why it was better to use Google Docs is what helped to speed up our migration away from expensive Office costs. The majority of what we are doing can be done in Google Docs/Sheets/Slides. So why not push in that direction?

No, they are working with all sorts of files, not just Google Docs/Sheets/Slides. Users download and upload files through the web browser using Windows File Explorer. Some users still work with Office files, Publisher, Access, one of my schools still uses ActivInspire flipcharts. They simply use Google Drive to store the data and download and upload as necessary. True, but if you allow File Stream, they can download this on their home PC/laptop. You can't stop them from running code on those devices.

Nothing at all. I just get our users to use the Google Chrome web browser and access all of their drive files via the browser. Safest method as far as I'm concerned and best method to help transition our users towards moving to a Chromebook environment as opposed to Windows environment.

I disabled File Stream for the very same reason. I have heard from a source within Google that the way File Stream works is that each file is sandboxed and so wouldn't be susceptible to a ransomware attack. I just don't want to be the guinea pig!

I purchased our renewal license via CDW because our bank didn't like us making international payments. As for what it can do, I've been able to throw everything I needed to at it with little issue. If you can script it, or give it command line parameters, then PDQ can handle it. I would go as far as to say that for $450/year, which in the grand scheme of IT costs, is quite the peanuts, it is more than worth it and very useful for package deployment. Simpler and just as powerful as SCCM as far as I'm concerned (with regards to package deployment, not SCCM as a whole).

Isn't this the whole point of it being a fantasy beat em up though? If you want simulation, you've always got the likes of UFC. Street Fighter is a legendary game, but I ain't ever seen a hadoken in real life or any yoga master stretch his legs like Dhalsim can!

Ubiquiti doesn't do MDM does it? Also, I thought UniFi requires a controller on site?

I know that Ubiquiti is probably gonna be the most common recommendation on here, but for me, it's Meraki all the way. I love the single pane of glass management for multi sites from wherever, whenever, automatic updates, feature updates and great support.
