  1. I've had something similar and, strangely, pressing Ctrl a few times seemed to "release" the rest of the keys. I don't know why or how it happened or why or how that was the solution. Still, something to try.
  2. @sahmeepee Many thanks for your help. After looking at what you suggested, I noticed the Maintenance Cleanup Tasks had been set up but there was no file extension specified. I've specified the .bak extension, ran a test and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.
  3. haha - ok, ok. I walked into the staffroom... after checking the number of staff members present. That equalled one so I assumed I was safe.
  4. I heard a good attempt today at avoiding saying, "I lost it". I walked into the staffroom and someone said to me, "You know that sheet of paper with my username and password written on it? Well, I've put it somewhere safe but I can't seem to find it" - no, you lost it. I'm sure if I read more into what was said to me, I can say that it was to avoid saying something along the lines of, "I'm sorry. It was my fault".
  5. What does your desktop say about you? I don't know how I was led to this ancient archived BBC story but it showed me 1) how far the BBC news website has come and 2) how not very true it is... well, for me personally anyway. I don't think my desktop says much about me... anyone else?
  6. Thanks. I'm aware of this within SIMS .NET. Apologies for not being specific but I thought there was an automatic facility within SQL 2005.
  7. Hi people, I've got a bit of a space issue when it comes to backing up SIMS. SQL 2005 does its usual backup of the SIMS database and so, obviously, the backup files mount up over time and take up space. I'm fairly certain (correct me if I'm wrong) that there is some facility within SQL 2005 to do a "clean up" once in a while of old backups earlier than a certain date. If anyone knows about this and can shed any light, it would be useful. Thanks.
  8. Depends on the size, really. 5 minutes or so? Can take longer.
  9. We also use this company. They've been really good in the past and taken everything that we've wanted to get rid of. Definitely recommended. Old stuff gets recycled and take to countries that need stuff like that.
  10. If anyone knows how to do this, it would be an advantage to me, too. All I can think of is creating a separate staff address book and hide their addresses from the Global Address List... again, if people know how to do that, too, it would be helpful.
  11. Wasn't sure where I should post this query so apologies if its in the wrong place. I've just downloaded My Little Helpdesk and have started to set it up using MySQL. I've run through the instructions provided and got up to the database restore using the provided .sql file. Thats where I get an error. Apparently, it can't read the .sql file because it wasn't created with MySQL Administrator and therefore need another character set specified. I don't suppose anyone uses My Little Helpdesk and has managed to install it successfully? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  12. We have used Impero for some months now and we're really impressed with the application. The monitoring aspects are exactly what is needed and, what is so great about the company is that they take feedback from their customers and incorporate is as best they can into the upgrades and updates. As a piece of monitoring kit and a way of "proving" kids have done something they shouldn't, Impero is highly recommended.
  13. We have 6 Motorola CP040's in the school which are with 2 IT Support Staff, Head of ICT, Deputy Head, Reception and Caretaker. They're quite bulky but they've improved communication and response times a lot.
  14. Many thanks, Ian. Email on its way

  16. Hi guys, I've been using Devizes Booking System now for some time and found it really easy to use and a big benefit to the school. However, this is the first time I've come across this problem. I have 8 periods set within the system: * Before Registration * Periods 1 - 6 * After School It's been suggested that I add a Lunchtime period obviously appearing in the middle of the day. I added this, setting the correct times, etc. but the period was being added AFTER all the rest, i.e. after After School. Is there any way to have this added period appear where it should? Many thanks.
  17. Set the attributes of every file and folder in his user area to Hidden. That's always a favourite of mine.
  18. I also use the PowerToy solution. Very handy and quick.
  19. Hi guys, Recently upgraded to SQL 2005 on our admin server and, since then, backups don't appear to be going too well. We back up C:, D: and the System State to tape. What's happening is that C: is being backed up but then the tape is ejected without giving the chance for D: to start or the System State. I can guarantee that the tape cannot be full because the C: drive hasn't even got 10GB of data on it and the entire system can usually fit on a tape. Both drives can also back up individually when I perform a test backup. Something I thought of was that maybe the SIMS database would be in a locked state and therefore not allow a backup so last night I stopped the SQL Server service and the SQL Server Agent service but this didn't make any difference. Any suggestions? *EDIT* - sorry, running Windows Server 2003 R2 if that's any help
  20. Bog standard PC(s); LCD screen(s); Microsoft Powerpoint and Showpoint
  21. Adobe Premiere Elements - works for me
  22. Wow! Big difference. Hope you manage to fix the module, Zero Hour.
  23. I thought I had one until I realised it was you sitting at the desk opposite.
  24. Apologies. It's on a Server 2003 SP2 IIS6 PHP4 MySQL 5
  25. After looking around I've decided to try out GLPI as a helpdesk solution. I've created the MySQL database, copied the files to the server but when I browse to the site to start the installation proper, I get the message: The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. Where am I going wrong? What do I need to do? :?
