I lost all my knowledge when I went into university, took me a year to get back into things after uni, they were teaching Microsoft Office skills as a module for a computer and network technologies degree! -

I wouldnt touch anyone from uni with a barge pole, when I was at uni I m surprised if the people who got 1st degree's could even turn a PC on! All my knowledge came from experience. -

Alot of people say about snapshotting the VM's, if there was a DC disaster they would put the snapshot back, though most people say this causes replication issues, would you do this?

I agree totally, never sit back, I m always reading up regularly how to deal with such circumstances.

My opinion (this is for new servers coming onto the domain), install widows server, pacth it to the latest stuff at the time but dont promote it yet but clone it. If the server dies, build from the clone, install the few updates then DCPROMO it, cuts the time between cold install. Its good people are looking at worst case senarios but these are rare, just check your backups regularly.

Domain controllers are fine but I d advise to keep the forest root as physical -
I'd expect a mis-print, exchange server.

Go for stone, good customer services and no crap installed on them!

Also it allows them to log the job and for myself to update them if I have it in hand, or comment on it. Edit: also alolws staff to see when people were banned, why and where and when it will be re-instated, saves people moaning to me when they re unbanned.

I ve had a fully working v1 of it in use for a while but its hard for a general user to install, so just moving v1 to a more customizable and managable v2, thanks anyway! just not had much time ot touch it lately but got 7 weeks summer and no budget, so plenty of time ot sort out then!

I will be releasing a free open source, web based helpdesk system after the summer holidays, which includes: *helpdesk *ban Manager *booking system It hooks into AD as well, I already have a release but its not easy for a basic user to edit, so new release in September.
