Yea i found that option, that allowed me to get xp onto the machine etc but when it reboots to get into the GUI setup it comes up saying access is denied and setup cant continue.

Hi all I have bought a few vista laptops a while ago, and while i set them up perfectly the staff still dont like them etc so im being asked to format them and put windows xp on. Now, not a problem, ive found the correct driver for the sata controller and it finds the hdd's fine, after xp gets to the part where its "copying files" im being asked for an intel matrix storage manager disk, which afaik is already in the floppy drive. I sit there begging. pleading, and smacking the damn thing to accept the disk but nothing, ive double checked that the disk is the correct one of the chipset inside and obv it must be if xp setup is seeing the disks. anyone got any ideas why the feck its doing this?

about BFS, i heard something for around 2015, cant confirm that but im sure ive heard it from someplace

Sounds like 720p is the way to be, i shall take a look tonight as me and my buds are COD4'ing it up tonight but ive gotta take a mate someplace beforehand. Thanks all for your input, ive bought an elite last night and got it running at home on the aforementioned television. Now a question i have, with all these hd resolutions flying about, which is the best? I have the xbox running at its max that the tv will let me (1080i) - whats the diff between 1080i and 1080p?

ok, let me rephrase, how does one check this who lost the manual for the TV yonks ago ;P considering the tv is only 7 months old i think this is one helluva achievement ;P

the cable i mentioned in that post wasnt a HDMI cable it was a VGA cable with 2x phono inputs for sound. Im thinking the xbox hdmi cable will work fine cause the TV is only 7 months old.

the tv i have IS HD, but its only half HD, it has a HDMI input. what im asking is, do both the xbox 360 normal and xbox 360 elite work at both HD levels? (750p and 1080p)?

not a question of if matey You've allayed many fears there, the cable my friend supplied had seperate inputs for sound etc which i did plug into the TV but it wouldnt work no matter what i did. Now then, the HD cable, my tv i think is only half hd (750), its only a lil 19" swisstec tv im using for my monitor also. Will this make an difference in buying a normal one compared to the elite?

Morning all. Right, im finally looking to make a foray back into the world of console gaming cause my mates are looking to play them as well. Now then, as you can see im interested in an xbox 360, but i have a few queries. Whats the difference between the 360 and the 360 elite? The HDMI cables, does sound go through this cable so theres no need for any other cables etc? ie straight into the TV. I borrowed a friends xbox360 and he gave me a connector that hooked up to the PC RGB port on my tv but the sound wouldnt work, hence my worries about the HDMI slot not working. dont want to invest in a xbox if i have to use normal scart just to hear the game. i will no doubt have more questions but these will do for now

Come on people, achems razor, simplest explanation is often the correct one. Judging by his/her history of trying to bag a new laptop we can assume that he/she has damaged the laptop for his or her own gains. This is quite a bad situation. You cannot accuse him/her or doing this unless you have some evidence (however the hisotry of him/her wanting to have a new laptop could give you "probable cause") If this was me id discuss this on the QT with the ICT manager and see how he feels, explain the fact that he/she has been on the blag fr a new laptop for a while (as your ict manager should know anyway) and that suddenly he/she has turned up with a smashed screen. One fix which would make this person quite mad could be if you have a spare dead laptop and its screen is ok, just swap the screens out and hand it him/her back with a giant smile on your face and think "have that!"

get 1 crt and 1 tft monitor, place them next to each other, and ask the person whoever it is to ship them both to whatever room your new machines are going to be placed (the further away the better) If only! More energy efficent is the one main reason i think any school should look at TFT's, schools have huge carbon footprints as it is, just tell them itll save on their leccy bills and that should do. More stylish is always a good point, your room always looks more professional with TFT's thant CRT's Are CRT's even available to buy anymore? whenever i buy a machine in its always got a TFT monitor on it. Theres no saving in CRT's anymore, back in the day when crt's were 70 quid or whaever and TFT's were several hundred, there was a fiscal point to buying CRTs, but now that you can get nice tft's for under a hundred quid, i dont see the piont since youre gaining so many advantages imo.

Hrm thats interesting. Have you tested the messenger service to verify it is working? Also are you sure that papercut is set to hand out notifications as i would check there also.

As far as i understand it unless you use AD you cant use the MST file. I wouldnt want to mess about using wininstall to make an msi from an msi as it could probably go horridly wrong. Also about the board drivers and notebook software, again, as far as i understand it you only need the drivers on the machines with IWB's attached, the other standalone machines can have NB10 put onto them, this is something ill be trying since i have several ICT suites which are used for planning and for the kids to play with. Gallery wise i havent done anything with this yet, i have an hour last friday to work on it at the school i wanted to work on it at but apart from that i havent done anything, i may download the gallery and such after the hollidays and try to host it on the server. I really dont know if its worth putting laptops on the domain just so i can deploy software from them, i can see more problems than its worth

I've only read the first 3 pages of this thread and i can see a wonderful disdain for the smartboard software growing nicely lol. In response to some of the posts about the install manager that no one seems to know what to do with, there IS a PDF file full of what to do how to do it etc on the smarttech website, you need to go into the knowledge base and then put administrative tools into the search box and youll find what you need, if need be ill host the file someplace for you all. Also i have configured the 2 packages through the install manager, basically you need to have the 3 files first, the install manager, the notebook software, and the smartboard drives, you open each respective exe and save it to someplace (i just saved it to my MSI dir on the server) once extracted you can create the mst file to modify both packages, i did make one mistake and tell notebook to download the gallery while installing via MSI and it just didnt work for an hour. After removing the gallery download choices from the MST file i republished the MSI's and MST's and it installed the drivers and notebook software in under 10 mins, granted, a fair old while for a peice of software that just draws some lines on a board etc but meh. I can report that this method does work but i suppose deploying it via MSI is a bit poo for those people who dont have laptops or teaching machines on a domain with GPO's, apart from that the only choice is to run the install manually. Morning all As most of you will know Smartboard 10 has been released. Basically i am having some problems with it. I downloaded both the driver files and the notebook files to my server, ran the install manager and created custom install files so i could deploy smartboard via gpo's Now i pushed the GPO to a test machine in the ICT suite and it installed the driver files no problem, but when it came to the notebook software it just sat there for 45 minutes without any activity, in the end i have had to remove the GPO and leave it on smb 9.7 Anyone else suffering this problem and have an idea? or any idea where its going wrong? have i messed up the custom file etc?

Guys what your forgetting here is that im looking for anyone who has experience with the Econel server at the spec ive listed I am not touching a pentium D with a barge pole, pentium d, celeron d should be put into a deep dark hole and buried for the rest of time. the econel i have been quoted, as ive said twice so far, has a xeon 3350 and 2gb mem, i feel that this spec is great for the price with the amount of storage also.

Hello there! I look after 7 primary schools and about half of them use Espresso. We do have a proxy server but it is the LEA's proxy and not something we were asked to buy by Espresso. All we have done is added the Espresso servers IP address to the proxy exception list in IE and it works like a dream. I would recommend Espresso, it is a superb tool and i have not had ANY problems bar 1 dead box that was replaced within a week (notified espresso, engineer picked up and dropped off replacement and it went straight back onto the network)

Well the spec i have been quoted is: Intel Xeon 3350 CPU 2gb Mem 2x 160gb HDD's in raid 1 all the usual gubbins for £499 i could probably build a server but tbh would rather it was built by a reputable company
