it wasnt using certs it was just using pptp i think. The times were out of sync, thats the first thing i fixed a few weeks ago after i noticed had stopped working but it didnt start working again so i thought it must be something else. how do i create a dun in windows 7 to test cant find it :embarrassed:

this was working fine since my last post, both subnets talking to each other.. But about 3 weeks ago it stopped working. I can dial from siteA to site B and it will connect, but while it is connected site B cannot dial and connect to site A. If i disconnect site A from B, then B will dial and connect to A. I don't understand what has changed. Also routing seems to have stopped as clients on A cant contact B when A is connected to B (although I think that only worked when both sites were connected to each other so might be why) In the event logs, it looks like it establishes the connection but then it immediately drops.

But UAC is not turned off? Windows 8 Enteprise that only started experiencing this issue once it was joined to the domain. Ive read that the apps are designed not to run as an administrator, but this error occurs even when I log on as a student.. has anyone experienced this or knows of a solution? Cheers!

Ive screwed it all up. The database is only at one end as it wont replicate, but it now will not mount at all because it cannot see the other node. So the entire DB is offline. And I cannot remove the DAG because it has servers added to it. And I cannot remove the servers from it because it cannot see the other end. Oops

What port does torrents and stuff use? I want to stop people on my home connection from using torrents etc, but i want to do it silently so as not to have a Block page etc. So i will just do it on a port basis at the router. What ports does bit torrent use please?

Its a 300ms ping between the sites, this jumps to about 1000ms once i start to try to copy the database.

Right I've finally got this set up. Windows server VPN between the 2 sites, Exchange installed on them both, DAG configured and both servers added to the DAG. However when I try to replicate the database, it processes for about an hour and then fails with this message: Summary: 1 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Thanks Richard but is there any documentation you can point me to please? Specifically preparing and deploying the Windows side.

Ive added windows 8 to the list of updates in the configuration but I dont see a lot of the newer things, like the SC 2012, windows 2012 and a lot of stuff. Also in WSUS the windows 8 clients show as 6.2 and server 2012 shows as 2003. It looks like WSUS itself needs updating, but Im not sure which updates are the ones..
