Is there a SP1 standalone installer for this or do we need to download the full 2012+SP1 ISO? Im trying to upgrade SCVMM for example using the full ISO and its saying i need to do an uninstall then reinstall the new version. Is it the same for SCCM?

Im running 2013 office on windows 8, and running it all in desktop mode. I have selected outlook to be minimized to tray, and also selected the 'show new mail desktop alert' However I dont get a new mail desktop alert. Is this a bug? Or a different setting Ive missed. PS. First post of 2013. Happy new year!

Hotfixes dont get installed as part of windows updates do they. I thought hotfixes had to be done manually?

I gave my laptop to my 60 year old mother who is pretty much technological illiterate when i was back in September. It had windows 8. Speaking to her this week I was asking how she got on and she says she found it very easy to use, and had figured it out within a couple of days. We need to remember that most users dont need to know how to get to the control panel and other advanced stuff. They just click to open applications, and the easier the applications are presented to them, the easier they can open them.

According to this page Exchange Server and Update Rollups Build Numbers - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki the latest rollup 5-v2 is version 14.2.328.10 however I have installed it and its showing as version 14.2.328.9 Also since install OWA is not working with two different errors: Outlook Web App didn't initialize. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. Couldn't find a base theme (folder name=base) or An error occurred and your request couldn't be completed. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk with this HTTP Status code: 500. Im going to try resetting the virtual directorys but not sure if thats the right solution, also not sure about the differences in version numbers?

YouTube for Schools launched
RabbieBurns replied to AngryTechnician's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I have just updated my fortinet this week to FortiOS Version 5 and each filtering rule has its own Youtube extension option, so it looks like I can set the youtube for schools on the students policy, and leave staff on the normal access for youtube. Not sure yet how i'll manage the adding of vidoes to the 4schools section, but Im looking forward to testing this new functionality. -
Microsoft "ESS Licensing" - who is using it and why?
RabbieBurns replied to moriartythemundane's topic in Licensing Questions
thanks thats what i thought, my boss is convinced otherwise though. Where is it written please so i can show him? -
not sure if this is sarcastic or not, I have only seen one lenovo touch enabled device, it was a laptop/tablet swivel thing we had on demo. The touch screen would ONLY work with the suppliet stylus. you couldnt just use your finger like on any other touch device we have seen. Sent it straight back.

RabbieBurns replied to moriartythemundane's topic in Licensing Questions
with ESS, if i am buying 100 new laptops, can i specify them with no OS and put our ESS VL windows on it, or do they have to contain a winOS before you can VL them? Any links to official docs would be great -

I was just about to post about how I am sitting on my balcony enjoying a quiet beer in the 25 degree twilight, when i remembered Im flying to scotland next week and will be freezing my round ones off like the rest of you!

We are thinking of starting a BYOD scheme, but we want to be able to allow them to run a virtual corporate image on their own machines. I'm trying to get feeler for what is out there, that will let say 500 students pxe boot over wireless and boot either a mac or a pc laptop into a thin provisioned environment that we control, ie what backend infrastructure runs this. We have full wireless coverage already. No budget constraints for this at the moment so what do the corporates use?
