Loaning IT Equipment System
neonetman replied to SoyCanalla's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We have developed a PHP system with a MySQL backend that allows staff to book resources (whilst checking for overlaps). Technical staff then issue and return it on the system so there is an audit trail -
We are currently runningVeyon as our classroom management software (as it is free, and there is no budget for this). I've had a request from a teacher for the ability to control internet as well. Whilst I know Veyon do an addon for this, we simply don't have the budget to buy this. Does anyone know of a free or open source solution for this?

It's asking for a VC140 framework now, but struggling to find that. I'm about ready to give up and install a 3rd party app
-
I've run that, and although when I try to run calculator, I no longer get the error - nor does the app load. Any thoughts on how to resolve that?
-
That's a great starting point. If you can let me know where to get the app/license then I'm laughing

When we created our Windows 10 image we have managed to remove the calculator app from it. I've Googled to find a way to re-install the app, and the only option I have come across has not worked (see below). Is there any way to re-add the app to all PC's via script? The code I have alrady tried is:- Get-AppxPackage -allusers *windowscalculator* | [color=#C26230]Foreach[/color] {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

I've just started dealing with ICT Direct, and the service has been outstanding.

Connecting Cisco to HP Aruba with 10Gb fibre
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Wired Networks
Do you have any idea of the setting on the HP that needs changing? I've checked the visible light output from both the Cisco module and the lead to make sure they're the right way round, and there is no bdpuguard set on the port as far as I can see on the Cisco I've checked and it is an SFP+ SR module on the HP side -
We are currently running Cisco 3750 switches with 10Gb fibre backlinks. I have recently introduced an HP Aruba switch, again with 10Gb SFP modules. My issue is when I connect the 10Gb ports from Cisco to Hp, they don;t light up. I've checked both ports are enable, configured to run at 10Gb and have flow control disabled, so am not sure where to turn next. Any advice please?

Mornign all, We are presenting our SharePoint and Office Online through a Kemp load balancer configured as a reverse proxy. When a user tries to access a document they seem to get a variety of different responses:- * Via Chrome it loads the document in the browser correctly * Via Edge or IE, if you right-click and download it works * Via Edge and IE, if you click to open the document in the browser, it gives "invalid data from LM_Auth" Has anyone any experience of this, or resolutions?

Mornign all, We are currently running Sharepoint 2013 and Office Web Apps on premises (SP on one server and Web Apps on another). On Friday we started to receive reports of web apps not working, despite nothing chanigng (and no updates having been applied) to the web apps server. These are the errors I'm getting on the WA server... Obviously, I've tried restarting the server, with no success along with the /op/generate.aspx# URL to test Web Apps outside of Sharepoint (I have enabled access from URL) Other than a remove and create from fresh I'm struggling to work out where to go next on this. Can anyone advise?

Strange issues with reverse proxy
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
The reverse proxy on the smoothwall is very flaky, and doesn't allow for certificate re-encryption, login interfaces etc (all of which we used on our outgoing TMG box). The aim is to have 1 IP address (and URL) be prot forwarded to our RD Gateway server directly The remaining URL''s would point to the the 2nd external IP, which is port-forwarded to our Kemp Loadmaster internally. This will provide the necessary facilities that Smoothwall RP does not provide. If there is a better way of doing this, then please tell me - I'm after the simplest option ot make everything work -
Strange issues with reverse proxy
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Has no-one any thoughts at all on this? I'm tearing my hair out (what little of it there is left) -
Good morning all... I've got a really strange issue with incoming traffic to our web-facing servers. We run Smoothwall as a firewall, and need to access our RD Gateway server and a number of websites hosted internally. I have allocated 2 IP addresses for incoming traffic - one has a firewall rule and port forward direct to our RD Gateway server. The other has identical firewall and port forwards to our Kemp Loadmaster (used as a reverse proxy) This is the issue I'm having:- Mobile Hotspot -> Smoothwall -> RD Gateway [WORKS] Home Wifi -> Smoothwall -> RD Gateway [WORKS] Mobile Hotspot -> Smoothwall -> Kemp [WORKS] Home Wifi -> Smoothwall -> Kemp [DOESN'T WORK] There is no filtering on my home WiFi to get in the way, and I have also tried swapping the port forwards between Kemp and RD Gateway - so I know the firewall rules are correct. It seems that it is some external connections will connect to Kemp, but not others I'm at a bit of a loss what to try next (wondering if MTU has anything to do with it, but not sure where/which device to change for that)

I have the art department adament they still want to use photoviewer as an image preview utility... I've tried a few thing ssuggested on google-fu to try and find/re-enable it but to no avail. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to do this, or a suitable alternative?

Hadn't even thought about going back to basics and doing it that way... it worked like a dream guys Thanks

So reading that my understanindg would be that it could be worthwhile combining GPO's in a monolithic style, but keeping folder redirection, software installation and registry settings in seperat GPO's..... does that sound like a reasonable interpretation of the guide?

I have a small number of PCs' that I need to upgrade to 1903 without using SCCM, without a rebuild, and without internet. Is there a standalone pacakage I can download to do this, and if so is there a link for it? I've tried looking onthe Microsoft site, however I presume I'm missign it as I can't find it Cheers

Is there a formal guideline available that anyone knows of?
-
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, however I've been asked to produce guidelines for the size of desk needed for a student in a computer suite. I'm speccing up 600mm wide by 800mm deep, however I'm trying to find current UK guidance to support my design

I'd like to set up a radius secured netowrk that will not prompt for a username/password but simply connect using the (domain conected) PC's credentials (pre user logon). I know Ive seen this done in the past, but google-fu gives me mixed messages on whether this can be achieved with Unifi. Can anyone advise?

UNIFI WPA Enterprise authentication with NPS
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Wireless Networks
Thanks for all your help guys - it turns out the POE switches weren't giving enough power to the WAP's, and thet were dropping in and out. Once I've added a power injector in line, and turned off POE on the port everything is working smoothly for this -
I've got an issue this morning whereby USER group policies are not applying correctly on some machines but not others:- * The PCs are in the same OU * The policies are applied to the user * If I login to one PC, all 12 GPO's apply, yet if I login to another PC then only 2 apply Delegation and security filtering all list domain users I've tried a GPUpdate /force I've checke the application event log, and nothing there A grpresult /h confirms the symptoms I've described

I've done a fair piece of work this morning amending the files to correctly format the username as required by our system, and apart from that one line (which is indeed a teacher-less class), it is running flawlessly Once our timetabler uploads the class change to Sims tonight it should all be great Thank you again - - - Updated - - - I've done a fair piece of work this morning amending the files to correctly format the username as required by our system, and apart from that one line (which is indeed a teacher-less class), it is running flawlessly Once our timetabler uploads the class change to Sims tonight it should all be great Thank you again

I did make a couple of tweaks to get the script running:- Split the command reporter line into 2:- $simslocation = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\sims\sims .net'$simsCommandReporterPath = '"CommandReporter.exe"' Then inserted these lines before the first invocation of the reporter:- $currLocation = Get-LocationSet-Location = $simslocation I do however still get an error in the data file:-
