Win a Western Digital 1TB MyPassport portable drive

Me please! -
We are currently having an issue with our MS Surface Go tablets not automatically connecting pre-login to our Unifi Radius secured SSID. If we click to connect the device, it shows a status of "action needed", yet will connect no problem. I'm struggling to find our why it will not auto-connect, and what the "action" is ti thinks is needed. This is starting to cause a major headache for our SLT as they are not getting the right policies applied and drives mapped if they haven't manually re-connected to the network.

Enable remote use for all users in OU
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in How do you do....it?
Thanks @KevinB - that's exactly what I'm after. Just couldn't get my head around the syntax -
I'm trying to work out a PowerShell script to run the following command on all users in an individual OU, where $username and $mailalias are the same (e.g. the users logon account to the domain). My PowerShell skills are a bit flaky, so I'm just not sure how to construct this. Can anyone help? Enable-RemoteMailbox -identity $username -RemoteRoutingAddress

We currently use Microsoft DPM onto disk for our onsite backups, and also have a cloud based backup solution in place. We are looking at buying a tape drive to integrate with DPM in order to give us true cold backups. I'm looking for recommendations of tape drives that will work with DPM, and that are also reasonably inexpensive. I'm looking at the RDX drives, but don't know about their compatibility with DPM. Can anyone shed any light / suggestions on this?

Since we changed our firewall solution to Sophos XG, we have had an intermittent issue with users struggling to use Onedrive and Office properly. When logging in to OneDrive it will often get stuck on a screen saying "Please wait while we register your device". Additionally, when trying to open Onedrive files in the desktop app users are getting told they need to sign in to the apps again (we use SSO on the domain so the apps auto sign in), but the app then shows an upload error. I can't see anything relevant in the firewall logs, so am at a loss... can anyone help? Cheers

In addition, it seems that the Axis camera are trying to use an APIPA local-link IP for the uPnP connection rather than the static address I've allocated. This is resulting in me having to update the software with a 169.254 address for the camera, whcih is prone to change. I'm tearing my hair out trying to keep the cameras online
-
We've recently noticed a few of our Axis cameras reporting as offline on the Camera Station software. If I login to the web interface of the camera IP, the live view gives me rtsptextrtsp://dummyurl/axis-media/media.amp rather than the correct URL. If I manually type this in, and change the dummyurl to the IP, the camera live view appears.. Can anyone advise what could be causing this, and how to resolve it as I need these to be viewable in the camera station software again Cheers Iain

I'll give a definite +1 to ICT Direct. We have used them for several years now, and the service has been excellent. On the odd occasion we have had an issue with the hardware, there support under warranty has been second to none!

I've dropped you a line about this. -
We have a PHP/MySQL IIS server running our Intranet on a combination of Joomla and in house code, which has been runnig with no issues for 2 years now. Over the last few days we are getting slow-downs to the point of non usable. * Nothing has changed on the server * It has plenty of both RAM and CPU allocated to it (it's a Hyper-V machine) * It has plenty of disk space available I suspect it is to do with the INNODB tables in the database (as one of our backend scripts running on an ISAM table seems fine), however despite increasing memory allocation and max connections to the MySQL server, I'm at a loss to know what is causing it. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to look?

Good afternoon, I've had the following email from our deputy head about GCSE options. Can any of you shed any light on what he is referring to?

We have our Sharepoint instance presneted via Sophos WAF and have the follwing issues with logon:- * https://{SchoolURL}/Staff will go directly to the staff page * https://{SchoolURL}/Student will go directly to the student page When logging in via the WAF, after login users are directed to https://{schoolurl} rather than the subdirectory it needs to be. Has anyone any advice on this? Cheers

We are currently moving all our incoming connections across from our old hotch-potch of connections ont the XG firewall. I've added a WAF rule (currently testing with no protection policy) for our remote desktop access but can't seem to get it to work:- * I can browse to {RDP Gateway URL}/RDWeb and get to a login page there * When I try to use the RDP connection it tells me it can't connect. I had tried with the RDG 2008 protection policy, and then again with a RDG 2012 policy from https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000036644?language=en_US Now, testing with the protection policy turned off, and I'm still not able to connect. Has anyone else had this issue, and how can it be worked around?

I'm busy trying to set up our new Sophos XG firewall (as I've done in previous roles), but am having issues gettigng NTLM authentication to work in the browser. I've added an AD server, and tested the connection before importing groups. This server is happily authenticating for users using WAF and user portal access, however when I try to opena browser it records the following error in the Sophos authentication log:- Cannot establish NTLM authentication channel with {our netbios name} - 17945 Can anyone advise on this? Cheers Iain

2FA for RDS Connections. How do you do it?

We have used Entrust Identity Essentials (formerly SMS Passcode) for a number of years now. -
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this in, but here goes.... We have a load of Hytera TC-620 two way radios that are set up for use in school, however we have no idea of the frequencies and codes that have been set up on them. Following us reviewing our OfCom license, we now need to rationalise the channels we use and reprogram the radios. I've bought a programming cable and the software, however the radios seem to have a programming password set on them. I've contacted the supplier we originally bought them from many moons ago but they have no record of the password. Does anybody have any knowledge of how to factory reset these radios so i can start from scratch with the programming

So how would that work if we added a license using a MAK key prior to the changeover? That then shows in Windows as a digital license
-
I'm looking at our licensing options at the moment and trying to work out if it is worth us moving to Microsoft 365 A3. From what I'm reading it covers the following that we need:- * Windows 10 and Office 365 licenses * Server CALs * System Center Configuration Manager license * Rights to run Exchange and SharePoint servers on premises. So on this basis, I can drop the following items from my OVS renewal, freeing up those funds to pay for M365 * Desktop Enterprise CAL suite x number of FTE's * SCCM core license * Exchange server license * SharePoint server license Whilst retaining the rest of our OVS subscription to cover our on-premises servers. I also understand that for each members of staff, we gain licenses for up to 40 students FOC Can any of you licensing guru's confirm if my thinking is correct, and if not then correct my thought flow Many thanks

Form/Database to record Covid Testing
neonetman replied to Wirral_Wonderer's topic in How do you do....it?
We've written some quick and dirty php scripts to record our student and staff tests into a MySQL database, which will then export a csv of all the results, as well as giving summary analysis on screen (happy to share) -
Since removing our Edge server and re-routing our firewalls to point incoming mail traffic at our main Exchange server, any email destined for on-premises mailboxes is sitting pending with the following error Reason: [{LED=450 4.4.317 Cannot connect to remote server [Message=UntrustedRoot] [LastAttemptedServerName=mail.*******.org.uk] [LastAttemptedIP={our ip}:25] [LO2GBR01FT003.eop-gbr01.prod.protection.outlook.com]};{MSG=UntrustedRoot};{FQDN=mail.********.org.uk};{IP={our ip}};{LRT=2/24/2021 10:21:05 AM}]. OutboundProxyTargetIP: {our IP}. OutboundProxyTargetHostName: mail.********.org.uk I'm at a loss what the issue is now. Can anyone help?

Since we have completed our move to an Exchange hybrid environment, and 99% of our mailboxes are now O365 (we have kept a small number of specific mailboxes on prem), we have now pointed our MX records at O365 rather than our on-prem server. I now feel that it is an appropriate time to retire and remove our Edge server, moving that role onto the main Exchange server (as it will no longer be receiving email directly). I'm not entirely sure of the process for doing this (e.g. adding the role to the main Exchange server and making sure everything routes properly). Can anyone offer any advice on this, including confirming that I'm doing the right thing by removing the Edge server (It is an old piece of hardware I would like to retire from use) Thanks in advance for any help

We've recently acquired a Chromebook for one of our students to use at home, and obviously need to apply web filtering to it. My questions (of which there are many!) are:- * Is there a good, yet cheap (or better still free) web filter extension I can install on it? * Can I push out an extension to the Chromebook rather than the user (meaning it won't install on their in-school login, and if someone else logs on to the Chromebook, it will apply to them as well) * (Rhetorical question) - why was this one student allocated a Chromebook when we are a predominantly Microsoft house? * (Again rhetoric) - Can someone suggest a way of saving my sanity Thanks in advance for any answers to the first 2 questions. Iain
