I have a strange issue with changing the default VLAN on the WAP port on an SG200 switch. I set the PVID to 12 (our WAP management VLAN), then check the VLAN membership to check it has VLAN 1 tagged and 12 untagged. This is great until I reboot the WAP and the port switches back to PVID VLAN 1, and 12 as tagged Any ideas?

Enabling Spotify via Smoothwall

Okay cracked it - we've had to add spotifycdn.com to the list of URLs -
Enabling Spotify via Smoothwall
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
No blocks showing in filter logs, categories in web filter are fine, and detailed test in policy tester shows everything allowed. Firewall rule for TCP 4070 has been added Still just get a black screen in the browser -
Good morning all, I'm trying to allow Spotify for staff in school through our Smoothwall. I've tried the guide at Configuring the Smoothwall Filter and Firewall to Allow Access to Spotify – Knowledge Base Even after following this, I'm still just getting a black screen after login. Can anyone help?

Good afternoon all, I'm busy switching MDM on a number of our iPads. If I switch the MDM provider in Apple School Manager, will the iPad automagically pick up the change, or will I need to reset the iPad first?

Hey all, I'm looking for suggestions for the following CHEAP phones for connection to a home VOIP system. * Corded SIP phone * Cordless (e.g., Wi-Fi) SIP phone (this could be used at another location with Wi-Fi access to connect back to SIP server at hme * Cordless (DECT) phone - to connect direct to SIP router at home with its own DECT base built in Cost is a key parameter here, as I don't want to spend a lot on something which will only see a small amount of use. I'm still not fully clear whether Wi-Fi SIP phones exist other than DECT - please enlighten me as I'm new to the dark art of VOIP telephony. Any suggestions please folks? Cheers Iain

Only thing we could surmise was a faulty device on the motherboard, which only became "active" when the relevant driver was installed - hence the Windows build and safe mode are both fine but normal boot isn't

We brought it back to the testbench, and ran it on different cables and peripherals with the same issue

Hi all, We are having a few issues at the moment when trying to download files in Edge. On clicking, the downloads menu pops up with Open or Save As - clicking open usually does nothing, and clicking save as often pops up with either virus scan failed, network error, or just download failed. Clicking retry will eventually work, however it can sometimes take a couple of retries to get it to work The files can be from any source (including trusted sites such as our own website, or OneDrive files) Anyone else come across this?

I've packed this machine up to send back now, however we did boot a Memtest86+ USB and ran a memory test, with no issues found

Event viewer shows nothing related at all. Tried moving NVMe to another identical PC and it works fine there, so we're contacting our provider to log a warranty claim

Is anyone here on Zen Internet at home, and has a referral code - if so, care to share as it makes sense for both sides to use one Cheers Iain

I've got a strange issue with one PC on the network. It has started booting up, then a few seconds after completing the boot, the keyboard stops working, light on the mouse goes out, display goes off, and we lose the ability to ping it. It works fine right through a re-install (using mecm), and works fine in safe mode, yet on a normal boot this behaviour occurs. There is absolutely nothing in the event log relating to an issue, yet it re-occurs even after a re-install of windows. It is identical hardware to all other machines in the room, and an identical software image. A memtest shows no hardware errors Any ideas?

We eventually gave up, and deleted the device from Papercut, then re-added it. That seems to have solved it

Yes it is

Good afternoon, I've got a single on of our fleet of Toshiba copiers, that isn't recording copying in Papercut. Printing is recorded correctly, and panel login is okay - just the copying. Any thoughts?

[22h2] projector "wobble" after new windows install
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Windows 10
It's always VGA, although soemtimes via a hdmi to VGA converter. We've checked all cabling is tight, not wrapped round power cables, etc. -
I have a number of PCs that have started to display a "wobble" on the projector image following a re-image of Windows. We have updated the drivers, and tried various resolutions, with no improvement. It can sometimes vary depending if it is in duplicate or extend, and doesn't always appear to happen The machines are Lenovo M93P with Intel HD graphics as anyone come across this? And more importantly has anyone found a resolution?

[ms office - o365] Extremely slow loading files from network share

I've tried this fix, and it made no improvement. CSV files are the same sadly. The server is Server 2019 standard -
[ms office - o365] Extremely slow loading files from network share
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Office Software
It is different yes - if I open the file from within Excel it's fast. It's only if I double click the file, so it opens Excel itself that it's slow. I've checked both the server and workstation, and SMB1 is disabled on both, whilst SMB2 is enabled on both -
I've an issue with users currently where it can take over 30 seconds to load an Excel file from a network share (other Office apps are slow, but not this slow). Loading from local disk is lightning fast. I've added the location to the trusted locations in Excel, and nothing seems to make a difference. Has anyone seen this, and better still has anyone managed to resolve it. It seems to be an issue that has just occurred recently Cheers hive mind

I've got a number of servers set up on Amazon AWS Lightsail which need to send emails * I'm having trouble getting Amazon to activate my SES email account * I can't get the Ligthsail instances to contact an external SMTP server (I can telnet on port 25 to a web facing SMTP relay from any internet location, however from Lightsail it doesn't conect) Has anyone had any experience of this, and if so what workaround?

Finding that command out would be immensely useful. Might save me a massive headache

I have an issue in Hyper-V whereby the console is showing 2 checkpoints, whilst the disks have been merged manually. This means I can't delete the checkpoint entries as the files are missing, nor can I create any more checkpoints. Can anyone advise how I can resolve this?
