I have managed to configure it for use in our environment. There wasn't too many changes that were needed. It was mainly just a case of adding the AD link so pull through users so that you can assign assets to them. I think I read that in one of the coming updates that you will be able to assign assets to locations/rooms as well. I have just installed and set up Snipe IT, it looks really good once you have set it up. You can generate asset labels for all your devices as well which is handy. I think it just needs a bit of tweaking and working to get it working the way you want though. Other than that I would really recommend it, especially as its free.

We too just block the settings app through AppLocker as well.

I have setup RemoteApps here and that has given staff access to everything they need. They can open all their documents through the various programs such as Word and they can even open and use SIMS.

Once everything has been replicated and the replication group has been removed though will that free up the hard drive space again? I dont have volume shadow copies running on either server.

No, de-duplication is not enabled on any server and they both seem to report the wrong space.

Morning Everyone, I am migrating file servers using DFS Replication from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2016. The data is replicating fine but there is something really odd happening. The hard drives on the servers do not seem to be reporting the correct space available or used. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Cheers

Thanks for the answers on the browser opening at login, I added that policy and it resolved that issue. The other issue I'm having now is that it is asking users "How do you want to open this website" when they open an internet shortcut for the first time. If they log off and then log in again the prompt goes away and it just opens in the default browser. Has anyone seen this before?

I need to migrate AD CS onto another DC but when I go to back up the existing CA it gives the error message "windows cannot backup one or more private keys because the csp...". Has anyone else had this problem or know the fix at all? Thanks,

I've changed the default web browser and set my default apps. But when a users logs in when the computer has just been booted up it just loads up msn.com and I need to stop that.

Morning, I am just looking at deploying Windows 10 LTSB 2016 but there are 2 little niggles. When a user logs in, it always opens the default web browser, and also does anyone know the group policy to add file explorer to the start menu? Cheers

Hi All, I've found a free asset management tool that I like the look of but most of the documentation is for a Linux Server setup. I was just wondering if anyone is using the software at all. Its called Snipe-IT Asset Management. They say that it can be setup on IIS but doesn't have much documentation on it. If anyone has got this setup and has any advice that would be great. Thanks,

Yeah the latest agent is installed on our machines. Although looking at DNS it does not seem to be updating the machines and IP addresses correctly.

Good Morning, Over the last week I have had a really annoying problem with Lightspeed. The user agent and the filtering is not picking up which user is logged in. It is the same for our wireless using RADIUS authentication. Has anyone else had similar problems or got any ideas as to what can cause this? Thanks,

I put those Impero exclusions in yesterday and have already had a report of a black screen this morning.

On the Impero server go to Tools and then Injection Exclusions

I removed the DNS Server IP from DHCP and there were 3 other DNS server IPs in there. Would I need to change static ip address DNS settings if there was an alternate DNS set as well which was still up and running?

I just demoted one of the existing DCs after setting up another DC. All replication seemed to have happened. Once the old DC was demoted though it seemed to cause a lot of DNS issues. Promoting the server again resolved the issues. I can't find where the problem is though. Has anyone else had these kind of issues before? Thanks,

That's what I want to do but when I started working here it was setup as a split scope so was just wondering if anyone has any experience of migrating from split scope as I've never done it.

Yeah, I've refreshed server manager and rebooted the server, still coming up though. When click on promote I get the following message. "Error determining whether the target server is already a domain controller: The target server is already a Domain Controller"

So I have installed a new virtual DC and promoted it and everything. I can connect to it with RSAT and see AD Users and computers just fine, in server manager though it says that it still needs promoting. Could this just be a case of waiting a day or so to ensure replication is all complete?

So at the minute, I have a physical DC and 2 virtuals, would you suggest making a new virtual with 2016, promoting that up to PDC and then doing clean installs on the others, then lastly making either one of the virtuals or the physical the PDC?

Was there an easy step by step guide for that anywhere?
