Did you move the AD roles to a secondary ad and promote that then do a fresh upgrade and move all the ad roles back over?
-
Was that an inplace upgrade or a fresh install?

Hey everyone, Has anyone updated their Domain to Server 2016 yet? Has anyone ran into any problems so far? Cheers

Which SSL certificate company should I go for?
lmrogers replied to Dan_ATR's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I too use a wildcard certificate from GoDaddy. They seemed to be reasonably priced. -
so at the minute we have dfs set up like \\dfsname\shares and then have shares split across both file servers. What i would like to do is set up the new server with shares split differently across the 2 file servers and then set up dfs again but reuse the old dfs name, if that is any clearer?
-
I'm looking to re work how the shares are distributed between these 2 servers and am looking to set up file servers from scratch. If i setup DFS namespaces with a new name, would it work if i renamed them the old and then name the new what the old was, would that work?

Good Morning, I'm hoping someone will be able to help guide me. I have 2 file servers both on 2008 R2. I'm looking to migrate them to 2012 R2. One manages DFS and the other manages Users quotas. Whats the best way to upgrade these servers? Cheers.

Hi everyone, I'm looking at setting up DirectAccess for our staff laptops. Just wondering if anyone has set this up before and can give me a bit of guidance? Cheers,
-
Hello, I'm looking at setting up Remote Apps and possibly DirectAccess. I want to install it on a VM to start with and test it with a few accounts before rolling it out site wide. When I roll it out I will like move it onto its own dedicated server. Is it easy to migrate it once it has been setup and running? Also is the setup easy enough? Cheers,

Windows 10 High Bandwidth with Delivery options turned off
lmrogers replied to Bemrosesteve's topic in Windows 10
Just a thought, could the high bandwidth usage be because of the live tiles on the start menu? Because surely they would go out to a Microsoft server, possible the h6.msn.com domain to update things like the news. Might be worth enabling the policy to turn off tile notifications and see if that makes a difference. -
Hey everyone, I'm working at a school in Kent and our broadband is up for renewal. We are currently with EiS but have a cheaper quote at the minute from Schools Broadband. Has anyone got any experiences with School Broadband that could tell me if they have good customer service? and what their services are like? Cheers

I am getting the same issue as well? -
The only reason I wanted to rename the server was due to some scripts we run reference the server name and it would have been easier for me to keep it the same. No big deal though, I'll just have edit the scripts.

Hello, The media department where I work want to use Davinci Resolve for editing. However when it runs it only seems to run if the user has got Local Admin rights. Obviously I dont want students to have local admin rights, does anyone know a way around this? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks,

Thats what I thought. I do have a couple of other little niggles, when I connect to the admin panel though the local host it has a certification error, whats the easiest way to fix this? Also when connecting internally through Outlook it is sometimes asking for user credentials, how can I stop that? Thanks,

Hi, I'm just in the process of migrating my exchange server from 2010 to 2013. Once I have migrated all the mailboxes and everything else I need, I am going to decommision the old excahnge server. My question is when I have done that and no longer have the server in my domain is it possible to rename the new exchange server to the name of the old exchange server? Thanks,

Hey, I have just got a Windows 10 build all sorted. Group Policies are pretty much all there. However, on the computers that I have deployed it to I keep getting random crashes and programs/windows explorer crashes. Has anyone had this issue? Or know how to resolve this? Many Thanks,

micro:bit - install driver silently?
lmrogers replied to mrbios's topic in Raspberry Pi, Arduino & Other SBCs
Would you be able to upload the 32bit driver for me to test in my enviroment please? That would be a great help. Thank you. -
Thanks, I'll give it a go and keep trying. I have looked at Classic Shell which i was really wanting to keep going with but for some reason it just kept becoming unresponsive and causing issues with the computers.

I was trying to just deploy a standard start menu layout with just icons for things like Office and SIMS or just get rid of the metro part completely. Ah I will give that policy a try. Thats the strange thing, our staff are on roaming profiles and that seems to work but students do not have roaming profiles and it doesnt work. The seems to be some strange AppData redirection going on though which was set up by my predecessor, how would that effect the start menu redirection?

Hey Everyone, I've got a couple of really annoying issues at the minute. So I'm working on my Windows 10 deployment and am running into issues with the Start Menu. 1. The start layout GPO just doesn't work. 2. How can I get rid of those stupid Apps from the start menu? 3. Start menu redirection is only working for staff and not for students. I have tried various different ways of getting it to work but no joy. Any help on these would be greatly appreciated! Cheers,

@TomHD the only issue with not having an internet connection i found was not being able to activate the servers and getting the pre reqs for certain things and for testing windows updates before applying them to the live network its hard without an internet connection.
