A school is not classed as a consumer so is not covered by the Sale of Goods act, they are classed as a business so are covered by contract law so unfortunately the 5/6 year warranty does not apply for schools.

I don't know if this is a new thing, but on the Windows Live live.com website you have a thing called Messenger Social, which allows you to have a stream from Facebook, MySpace etc and to post onto these sites even if you have these sites in your blocklist.

Depends on when you are going to do this, but the schools agreement will be moving next year (March possibly)to campus agreement style arrangement, whereby your licensing will be based on number of staff rather than number of computers. This is going to dramatically reduce the costs of a schools agreement for a lot of schools.

Sorry, just sprayed my keyboard with coffee laughing at that. A lot of police are very nice, honest people, trouble is there are a lot of vindictive in the police as well. Couple that with the previous governments obsession with targets where it's easier to fiddle the figures stitching up the naive innocents rather than going after the real criminals who know how to play the system so as to meet the targets.

It's not your job to prove you are innocent, it's for the police/cps to prove in a court of law that you are guilty.

I'm not quite sure on the exact details of the RIPA act for this, but if the police have to get approval from the courts first in the same way they need for a search warrant, then I don't have a problem with it and he deserves to go to jail. If the police can just demand the password without it being approved by the courts, then that's just plain wrong and I would be kicking off about it as well.

The Oki printers are very reliable, but I found them very expensive to run, but may have just been the models we had. Our cost per page on them worked out over 3 times that of the Ricoh printers we replaced them with.

This was in addition to Child Benefit, really more of a precursor to Child Tax Credits.

That was a different allowance, the Child Tax Allowance which along with the Married Couples Allowance was scrapped by Gordon Brown. Funny how after scrapping those it took him over 2 years to introduce the current tax credits system to replace it.

Child benefit was initially brought in after WWII to help re-populate the country. As we are now over-populated nationally and globally, does it make sense to have it at all?

Because these days it's not always the mother looking after the kids! It would be just as wrong to say 'we must pay it to the father becasue these poor women don't know how to manage money'.

Child Benefit is a universal benefit, so you get it at present no matter what income you are on, therefore they don't ask for your income details on the form. From what I understand, there is an easy way with current systems to check if there is at least one parent on higher rate income tax, but it would cost a lot of money to introduce a system that check if both parents are on the higher rate. May not sound the fairest of ways I know, but the idea is to reduce government spending to reduce the deficit, not create costly extra layers of beurocracy.

There are always losers however you do it. The big advantage of the way it's being done is that it's achievably with the current databases, staffing and IT systems meaning this is an actual saving rather than billions being squandered on extra IT contracts. In all honesty, I would've prefered if they had got rid of child benefit all together, those who really need it already receive child tax credits.
