You can just switch at renewal, there's no additional charge to do it.

You can buy them to cover all you machines or you can cover a small number number of them if you don't need it site wide (The cost per unit is about 3x higher to do this)

I was under the impression that you had to be in the same LEA to do this.... May be wrong though

We get pricing from Distribution a month in advance, I can't comment on other companies but that's the case with us (otherwise we couldn't quote on renewals until they'd expired). The pricing will depend on the quantity you'd be purchasing but as a general rule the cost price of EES is 30% higher per unit than Schools agreement. As an example, if you had an FTE of 100 I'd suggest a price of around £36-£37 per FTE for Desktop. Different companies will differ of course EES pricing for FE/HE has been around since December. If you post you FTE & Product(s) I can give you a rough guide to pricing.

Sorry, but that's not true. EES agreements cannot be set up until March, but pricing has definitely been released.

Looking at that, £26.96 is way below the cost price and more like what the price was per unit under the old schools agreement... I'd be a little wary. Would be worth checking what the MS part number is for the quoted items (for Desktop it should be 2UJ-00011).

If they both do over 200 hours per year I'm 99% sure it'll be 2 FTE

It doesn't help that when you look at the MS site you see the American way (1x Full Time Faculty + 1/2 x Part time Faculty etc.) used. Why they changed it for Europe only MS knows....

For Microsoft it needs to be any member of staff who works over 200 hours per year, excluding those who do not have access to your PC's/network (Cooks, cleaners, etc). Make sure it's calculated correctly before you place an order to save hassle in the future

Is that just for Desktop... or have you got other licenses (Visio, SQL CAL, etc)?

If it's just for desktop I wouldn't expect you to be paying more than £40 per FTE on EES

There doesn't appear to be a buy out option now. (it used to be 2x-3x more expensive depending of you had a 3 or 1 year agreement). It wasn't much cheaper than Select licenses unless you had a 3 year agreement anyway)

Windows Server Enterprise would allow up to 4 VM's per server license but as you're only installing 2 VM's per server it's probably cheaper just to buy 2 Windws Server standard licenses per server so: 2 standalone servers - 2 x Windows Server Standard 4 physical servers running Hyper-V hosting 6 Virtual Servers on 3 - 6 x Windows Server standard (or 3 x Windows Server Enterprise) Exchange Server: 1x Exchange Std License (Or Enterprise if prefered) 1x Windows Server Std Plus CAL's for all machines . With Backup exec you'll need 8 or 9 Windows agents depending on which server the Backup Exec server is sitting on and an Exchange agent if you want to backup exchange. If you have 3 or 4 VM's per machine you can get a Hyper-V agent to cover all the VM's but as uoi only have 2 VM's it's cheaper to buy individual agents.
