I presume it was printed in SIMS Nova-T as this is always a pita with certain printers. Try printing the timetable from within SIMS.net by going to Reports, Timetables (NOT Reports, Print Timetables) as this uses a different print method.

Exchange 2010 can be run on any virtualisation platform that is validated by Microsft, see list here You do occaisionally get some jobsworth at Microsoft SUpport saying it's only supported on Hyper-V, if you do then ask to speak to their supervisor...

Teacher in classroom, unplugs laptop from network without logging off, goes to staff room, plugs in there and so still has the printers for their classroom. See, really do need a location aware device inserting in the teacher ;-)

Yes that works for static PC's, so does the utility I posted. The problem is laptops when they move around to different rooms, so I still need to patent my device

I must patent a device that can be installed in teachers/students (where it's installed, use your imagination:p) that monitors their exact location in school and redirects printing to the nearest printer.

You know they'll just send everything to the default printer anyway, then try printing it another 5-10 times when it doesn't magically appear from the printer nearest to them ;-)

Which cloud based email system are you using, stuff like live@edu and google mail have utilities to do the single sign-on.

There is a much simpler way with 2003/XP to map printers rather than Group Policy or login scripts. This remotely adds a network printer to a machine permanently (well, unlees the machine is re-imaged or the delete cmd is run). Just create a batch file as per example attached and run it once, see attached zip file.MapPrinters.zip

So expect even more spam emails/phone calls/texts if you sign up ;-)

Some countries (eg Canada) do not accept part time degrees/PGCE/GTP as sufficient qualifications for teaching, only full-time qualifications. Why, I've no idea.

We're about 1600 users, very media intensive now, which is why we looked at this type of solution a year or so ago now. We're up to 3.7Tb of space used now in total for file shares, home drives etc, but we have 14Tb of storage on the 7310 so we're good for a while yet

Depends on the NAS, number of users etc. Not all NAS boxes are the same and you do have to pay quite a lot for something decent, but the decent ones are far superior to Windows file servers. We moved from 7 windows file servers to a Sun 7310 unified storage device. This has sped up access considerably, is much easier to maintain, gives us much greater storage capacity and more features. It will now do de-dupe on the fly, so multiple copies of the same file are only stored once. Yes, it did cost rather a lot, but it take far less time to maintain (get's touched about once every 3 months for a software update) and as we were going to have to replace most of our file servers and add some extra ones, it was for us the cheaper option. Edit: the 7310 handles all of our file shares, not just the home drives.

This review is looking at the core subjects which are required for all schools to teach to a set curriculum. Yes they are cutting down on the prescribed core subjects, but this will give schools the flexibility and freedom to teach what they want, rather than what the latest education minister deems appropriate. I think in quite a few schools ICT will become a bigger and broader subject rather than being limited to the current national curriculum.

Must say as well, OU degrees are actually very well respected by employers as it shows a lot of dedication and hard work to complete it.

It's about £5k to do a full degree at the moment, you pay for each module when you register for it, so it's pretty well spread out over the years of study. The fees are likely to change upwards as they currently have a government subsidy and with the cuts I've no idea if this will be done much longer. Mind you, still will be cheaper the the £18k or more to study at other universities.

It also says multiple schools can be licensed, anyone else got their renewal due in March for their Schools Agreement, see if we can get a bulk discount :-)

Just found the answer: Now 200 hours per year works out at 5 hours per week term time! Wouldn't exactly call that full time

Does anyone have any clarification on the FTE staff count, the only details I've found are for the US version of the agreement and it states that it may be different outide the US.
