  6. The main bugbear is going through your software. As an Academy is a new legal entity, none of your software licences are valid unless the publisher grants a transfer of license, so you have to contact the publisher of every piece of software you use to get the license transferred. Most don't charge for this, some do and some won't let you transfer and insist that you re-purchase the software.
  7. Count me in;) I've got the eye and brain bleach ready, I've a horrible feeling Al will be getting his baubles out....
  8. Nooooooooooooooooooooo
  9. Considering it's £71.80 inc VAT direct from Crucial, it's not exactly the bargain it claims to be either.
  10. Sensible decision I think, if it's affecting their ability to run their core business then they're best out of it unless it's profitable enough to hire someone else to deal with it.
  11. Think the last paragraph sums up the cause of the problem pretty well:
  12. If it's typed text, not handwritten, then any half decent camera mounted on a tripod so you get a steady image will take a good enough picture for any decent OCR software to convert the text.

    Wellies....

Muck boots are great in mud/snow etc, not so good on smooth surfaces like tarmac/concrete especially if it's wet. Still really good though, I go trolling off in very muddy, hilly fields most days and the difference compared to my old wellies is incredible. It's just when you get on pavements and the like they can be a bit slippy.
  14. Look, as we all know, the correct way would be to have all windows down with the stereo turned up full, preferably have a huge great subwoofer filling the boot, drop a gear or two so you are red lining on the tach and have your mates hanging out the windows demonstrating sign language.
  15. Casio do short throw, the XJ-ST145 and the XJ-ST155.
  16. Stick a Raspberry Pi in with some sticky back plastic and a door sensor:getmecoat: Added to that, you could get the camera module for it and do some cheap CCTV.
  17. Ermm, PFI hospital contracts awarded to Labours mates, biggest con going that one and is what is causing the financial crisis in the NHS at the moment and will only get worse.
  18. For my serious reply. These events happen all the time, I've watched Labour leaders/MP's stand up at these type of events and then witter on about equality whilst making the country even less equal, justify illegal wars, claim to be saviours of the NHS whilst slowly destroying it, so standing up and speaking about the need for continued austerity within the public sector spending is at least holding an honest view whether you agree with that view or not. I do wonder if Ruth Hardy is still employed by the events company, if we say had an awards evening with a guest speaker but it was someone we didn't like and then wrote an article in a paper slagging off the event and the speaker I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be in our job very long.
  19. @witch my posts are not meant to be taken seriously ;-)

  22. Do they still have the ridiculous 'traffic management' so your nice fast connection is pretty much crippled as soon as you try to use it to anywhere near its capacity?
  23. That explains it, the poor thing died from exhaustion and is now pushing up the daisies...
  24. The pigeon hasn't even made it 20 miles west yet...think a carrier pigeon upgrade is required:p
  25. This is going to be interesting, BT certainly have the money to go toe to toe with Sky and it's about time there was some strong competition. Hopefully it'll end badly with both companies going arse up, they deserve each other
