I haven't done this, other then on my own personal PC at home, however as it's IMAP why not just recreate the account and have it synchronise all the email down to the new computer again? Apart from the initial synchronisation (which Outlook 2012 should carry out in the background anyway), it shouldn't cause any huge problems. The only thing you might then need to move is the local PST file for the Sent Mail/Drafts which are stored locally on the machine unless you configured Outlook to store them in the relevent folders on the IMAP server.

Just as a quick note - if an agent has been installed since you last did the Solus 3.4.103 upgrade (I had 2 which the machines I'd reinstalled) then Solus will redeploy the 3.4.103 upgrade to them for some reason because it thinks they haven't met the dependancy (even though Solus obvious installs 3.4.103 when you deploy it to the workstations through the DeploymentUI)

You know when you spend a couple of days on something and then your convinced it should do it? The more I thought about it last night the more I realised that trying to forward to the upstream proxy is no different from me trying to proxy it locally. Daft question after all. Wondering if someone can help me see if what I'm thinking is right and what the way arround it is. I've been asked to make available guest wi-fi access in the sports hall, which I've agreed to providing I can ensure that the security of the rest of the network stands. So I decided, VLAN, dedicated box with DHCP, DNS, firewall and proxying traffic would be a good way to try and make it as simple as possible for guests coming in to access it. Now I've hit a problem. I can get Squid to obviously transparently route the http traffic and realise I can't do the same with https without doing a MITM, but the traffic somehow needs to get from my routing/proxy box upto the ISP's proxy. Am I trying to do something really stupid/impossible in trying to send the HTTPS traffic straight up to the ISP's proxy, or should I be able to do it but missing the obvious? If not, what's the best way to proxy the internet traffic to ensure it's simple, secure but supports other devices (I'm thinking Android type devices with no proxy support)

It's an IE9 issue. If you enable compatability view for the SGD website, the Java plugin is then detected. It's an oracle issue (and very annoying one because it keeps cropping up about once a year and I've always forgotten the solution)

I installed it configured with the Appdata as c:\appdata and then editted the config file in the a2c directory to the network drive and path it should use and added System and Everyone with full control to the folder.

Just installed and set it up today and was suprised how easy it went. Had an issue with the installer trying to put the application data onto the network drive, however a quick phone call to them and a work arround instantly provided. We did panic when AQA sent us a results file through it straight away though! (A bit of investigating showed it was from January)

I would run the simsperm.bat file found in the setups folder for the user/usergroup you want to be able to install: ie simsperm.bat domain\staffgroup Should solve any permissions problems.

We've had our invite since before Christmas, still haven't done anything with it yet. When I come to sit and look at it with the Exams Officer, it always crops up arround the next set of entries so postpone it at her request. We've agreed after half term we need to do something with it though.

What are the workstations using as a DNS server? Your own DNS Servers or an external one? They should be using your internal one's only, and forwarders configured on your DNS to forward any requests they cannot resolve. (Or atleast that's what I understand anyway)

For the scriptingsupport issue, if you go to the Photoshop plugins folder (I think it's plugins, it's one in there) and rename the file so it's ~scriptingsupport.8li the plugin will be disabled and photoshop should then load successfully.

I got told that you need to use a Change of Name Form to register the fact that it is a different institution, however when Adobe sent me it the form doesn't accept a .sch.uk email as a valid address. Despite emailing then several times, they've never responded with a fix or response to what I should do. Kept all the emails so if they do ever come and say anything, I have tried to transfer it.

I think what they were getting at was finding out if a specific person had used a specific bit of software - don't suppose you know if SCCM can provide that info do you?

I'm not quite sure where is the best place for this, but this will do for the moment. I've been given a hyperthetical situation that someone would like me to find out what programs someone has used on a computer between a specific period. So, the question is, how do you do it? I think I've read that Netsupport and Netop can both do this and log it centrally. I haven't found me Impero sales stuff to see if that can do it, but was also wondering if SCCM would do this too? Or is there a better, simpler, cheaper way of doing it? A method compatible with RDS would be usefull too since that is where I'm starting to push more. Thanks

If you have time (and a lot of it, as in several hours) Call Connections is a company I've had good experience with in the past for knocking my insurance prices down (in getting a few quotes, then going back to my insurer and saying "Oi what you charging me that for"). They'll get a bunch of insurers and transfer you through to each one and give you a call back and transfer you to the next one. Don't know how it compares to things like compare the market and others though this year. 2 Years since I did it now and ended up with Kwikfit Insurance this year, after phoning up and saying I'm not paying that I did save another £100 off it.

Well this is why I questioned it. I was under the impression if you could licence your RDS CALs in the same way, so if you had more RDS Clients then staff, then it might work out a cheaper way to licence them. I also thought that if you were to licence students devices for RDS then you would purchase the student option. What @marksams is saying, if I've got it correct, is if you licence your RDS CALs under the EES agreement and then allowed students to bring in their own devices because EES can cover either per user or per device licences and covers the entire establishment, if you were to assume per user rights, this would cover staff and students, allowing students to use their own devices without any additional licencing requirement. So in our case, for our 55 FTE, if we were to do this, the 55 RDS EES licences we purchased would cover all our staff and all students for the use of any RDS server. Also, under the two Microsoft grants he posted, in theory it would cover external use also because you have purchased user CALs for everyone. It isn't included in the Core CAL pack or the education desktop pack, but there isn't anything to stop you licence it similar to Viso as a seperate addon to your EES agreement, but I have no idea on price.

Wow, in that case I can push forward with a lot more things then I'd hoped to then. I was always working on the assumption that it covered staff and if you assumed a per device model then you were fine, this puts a different slant on it. Thanks for the reply.

Morning I've tried to upload 2 png attachments and have been told that it is not a valid image type, I've converted them to jpegs and still get the same message about not being a valid image type. Just tried with both bmp and gif also and none of them upload. Have used Firefox 6.0.2 and IE8 on Windows XP SP3.

Are you 100% that RDS CALS purchase under an FTE count also cover student own devices? The reason I'm asking is over the next year we'll be approaching a matching number of RDS owned CALs compared to our EES FTE count, but that doesn't take into account student owned devices which we don't do now because of the CAL cost. That Licence Document grant you link to mentions the purchase of Student CALs which are (were) a seperate purcahse to your FTE total and were based on your student total, or that's what I was lead to believe?

Evening all We've got an Epson EMP-S4 projector which is as dead as a dodo at the moment, no powerlights, nothing. Had a call with Epson and they'll refurbish the projector for £150 including collection/return/parts which I didn't think was to bad actually, but wondered if anyone else knew whether the parts were easy enough to get hold of/replace or any other recommended nice projector repair people I could get a quote for. £150 is cheaper then a new projector after all. Ah ok. I don't mind it appearing there because they can't do anything with it and as soon as the mouse moves of it they can't get it back.

It's possible to remove the close button, minimise and auto hide the connection bar by editting the RDP file you use to connect (assuming you use an RDP file) - will post the options when I'm in tomorrow.

Once a successful (or partially sucessful) deployment status is achieved, if you click on that deployment in your deployment history at the bottom next to the number of machines for each deployment package is a small blue arrow. If you click on that it will take you to a computer list screen at which point what I do is use the unselect all at the bottom, tick the machines that I want to redploy too, click save and then click deploy now (or schedule it). It isn't as intuitive as it could be with the save and then deploy button, I'd rather that deployment scheduling bit was moved to that same screen so you can do it all from there.
