I'll have to try and post something tomorrow, but where the box pops up that asks you what to displace, you can tick (I think) to tell it to lock and clash rather than displace. nce you do that, the bands screen will displace a black square instead of the yellow (or other colour if you've enabled colours).

If it's the whole block (all lessons timetabled within that block) then just drag it on top of the existing timetabled block and tick the box to clash and lock it. If it's just a single lesson for one subject within the block, first increase the minimum number of periods, build your block so that the lesson you want on it's own is on it's own line and the blank and protect the other slots. Then again drag onto the bands screen and tick to lock/clash it.

[windows software] Changes to Microsoft Education Licensing
Cache replied to GiggleKitteh's topic in Licensing Questions
Licence count going down was already provided under the last MoU so that's maybe Microsoft just giving more parity in it's licensing. Not sure I like the sound of the rest of the changes, also glad we fixed for 3 years before the summer. This after Microsoft saying that there wouldn't be any major changes to OVS-ES until next July.... -
Thanks @zoohead, think that might be my next step. Tried that @Matt_Renato, it still tries to use the old one.
-
No that's fine, I was just trying to find out how it worked since I just installed it 2 weeks ago so still learning!
-
This may be a daft question but I pushed the agent out through Group Policy - if I upgrade to 4.5 do I push the updated agent out via GPO or does it upgrade itself automatically (or do I get a choice)?

Hi all I've had an issue this morning where the old dns name of the proxy has been removed and Office 365 failed to sync for over 24 hours. I can't however find where it is storing the old dns name at, I've checked the registry and found one reference to it there which I've updated but no other references. This machine was updated from DirSync to AzureADConnect so assume that is where it brought the old proxy across. I've temporarily fixed it by putting a DNS alias in place, however would like to update the proxy server address if I can. Anyone have any hints as to where it might be getting stored? Thanks

Thanks all, to be honest the site you linked to @timbo343 is far cheaper then I've been able to source remotes for in the past so that's been saved anyway! Will perhaps see how it goes, now it's being used more I might be proved wrong....
-
Sorry, meant £150 for a wall mounted remote: http://cpc.farnell.com/vision-av/tc3-ctl/techconnect3-control-module/dp/AV26426
-
We have serial as an option (it's an Epson eb-x27), perhaps I'll just screw the remote to the wall I just thought it would be tidier with a switch box of some description. I'd love to charge departments but it's in an IT room that is being used more for teaching this year (at the other end of school) and nobody looks after it anyway as it is, it's hard enough trying to keep track of damage in there but hey ho, what do I know! Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Hi all I have just installed a projector into a room where I'm 99% certain the remote will walk within a day if I leave it there. Overnight I got to thinking that actually I could probably just install a simple wall box that will switch the projector on/off, however looking at projector controls I'm not willing to pay £150 for one! Anyone have any guides/useful sites for potentially building a cheap simple serial control for a projector? Thanks

Mine follows a fairly standard backup pattern, I run a dbattach backup at 10pm and then have veeam backup with Application Aware processing enabled at 11pm and that is then copied to a nas box at the other end of school.

[Office365] Assign a service account to SendAs to new O365 accounts
Cache replied to timbo343's topic in Cloud Services
Is there any reason you can't just have the photocopier email as photocopier@domain and then just have an account with permissions to send as that? -
Sorry, I thought you could perhaps do a linked class for it but I don't see how to split that out from there. What you might need to do is manually adjust those students when you assign them to the curriculum by going down and manually moving the groups around by using the assign students to an inelligable curriculum (Page 34 of the Academic Management handbook) - but it still might not let you do what you want I'm not 100% sure sorry. I think you should be able to do this per student using the Singletons item but again not 100% sure.

I'd check it's not a robocopy problem first, if you manually do a user using your robocopy command from a command prompt does it work? If it does, is the entirity of your script in the first post or does it have something else? I start my scripts now with Start-Transcript -path c:\scriptname.txt -Append and then that way I can go through and read the output to see if there's anything odd going on afterwards.
-
Looks like a small typo in your script in your new directory - $($users.New) should probably be $($user.New) - you have your file variable rather than the user loop.
-
Can you post a screenshot of your block? I might have an idea but I'm not sure whether I am picturing your block correctly....

I budget in a 20% price increase for the maintenance agreement for Veeam (asked our supplier roughly what it would likely increase each year before we made the initial purchase). What are you licencing however, as we have Veeam Backup Essentials Plus and I'm sure our renewal wasn't going to be that much. If you are licencing just the main Veeam Backup and Replication and have a maximum of 3 hosts with 2 CPU's in each host then Essentials/Essentials Plus is worth looking at unless you need a specific feature not included. We did also renew for 3 years this year to benefit from a discount which might be worth looking into if you can afford it (academy accounting through prepayments allowed me to spread this across multiple years budgets). I suppose if you are thinking of canceling, did you update Veeam in the last 12 months to the latest version as your maintenance also covers that.
-
If you find an answer, I'd love to know it because I want to do exactly the same thing. I spent a while looking and the closest I got was both services use port 80 but couldn't see anything that said they would conflict or work either way and then moved onto doing something else. Might get back onto it over the summer.

Azure Active Directory Basic for Education (New Service Plan)
Cache replied to Arthur's topic in Cloud Services
I'm fairly certain Azure AD Connect does Password Writeback without an Azure premium plan? Edit: Maybe not, never looked at it that closely before! -
Our inventory is all stored in GLPI with purchase date and other details, we working towards a 5 year replacement cycle however in the last couple of years that got put to one side due to constant budget cuts. Our new business manager does recognise the importance of ensuring the kit is actually workable and usable so we have planned off the inventory a replacement cycle or replacement and relocation cycle to make sure we are able to keep things moving forward. We hit most of this years replacements and next year should be able to mop up the dozen or so that we've missed due to failures of other kit. Staff have all been issued with a rough outline of the plan so that they are aware of what we are planning to do when.
-
We don't put Governors in SIMS at all, our SCR is held separately in a format produced by our H&S consultants.
-
But the question wasn't about giving governors access to SIMS, it was about adding them into SIMS with something like a zero hours contract which would tie more into recording them within SIMS to store details about DBS checks and produce a SCR report.
-
Try KB94213 on My Account and see if it applies. I have a vague recollection of the widget not updating correctly and either having to manually refresh or close the home page down and open it back up again, however I can't find any notes on it and it is only a very vague memory in the back of my head.
-
It might have been for the Single Central Record recording, in which I guess (but I'm not certain) you would add them into Staff and exclude them from the SWC. I remember this being mentioned at a SIMS Update meeting a long time ago but can't remember the exact details of it. I guess it depends whether you produce your SCR from SIMS or you have some other way of recording and managing it?
