Thanks Oops, Did you limit which domain students could send mails to? I'm a bit worried that if it is abused we won't be able to track trace what has happened!

I have managed to iron out all my problems with google apps and now have it set up and synching my students across. Now what? Any users out there have any tips or pitfalls that I need to look out for before I move our students across to it? thanks

It was my set up in 1and1 that was at fault. I had the address pointing to an IP address and forwarding to an address, it didn't like that.

We have live@edu for our staff. you cannot view emails with it. We currently use Zimbra where as an admin you can log in as the user and view their emails, not that I have ever had to.

Thanks everybody. Just after I asked we learned that we are being ofsteded on Thurs and Fri so it actually became more of a priority as the Head wanted that very prominent as people walk in to the school. All sorted now and playing through XIBO. Thanks all.

Two of our students are in a video on this page FILMCLUB - Close Encounters Details and I have been asked to display it on our XIBO display. The problem I have is I can't see how I can rip the video from the site. I can't embed the site either as it needs clicking to start! Can anyone suggest a way round this? Thanks

I've changed some further DNS settings but won't be able to see if they have worked until it replicates.

1and1 say 10 minutes. I have looked at the actual DNS settings page and see this... http://www.prentonhigh.wirral.sch.uk/regstuff/screenshot.163.jpg and this is the IP address that email.prentonmoodle.co.uk goes to. Perhaps I misunderstand what the "Domain destination" settings are for?

I'm afraid they have exactly the same names.

They do have multi card readers so I tried installing USBDLM on them to see if that would help, but it didn't!

I have Google apps set up for our students and have just realised that if a user tries to go to email.prentonmoodle.co.uk ->Prenton Moodle they end up at Prenton Moodle I have a redirect in place, with 1and1 that should point the users to http://mail.google.com/a/prentonmoodle.co.uk but it isn't doing that. Can anyone suggest why it would do this? thanks

Mahara is really nice and we do have it running but nowhere near you I'm afraid.

I have managed to cock up two ICT suites so that students can't use USB pen drives. All was working until I re imaged them with a special new image that I had made with multi drivers for more computer models. The computers are asus EEE boxes but another model that the image has installed on works fine! Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Has anyone managed to sync their users active directory password using the tool? I can't see what else you need to do outside the tool to enable this!

I would go for FOG - Once set up it's a joy to use. The set up itself is quite straightforward too these days. Plus it can be used for so much more than imaging. Conezilla comes in handy for the odd hard drive cloning. I'm pretty sure that FOG uses ping? Ghost - Too expensive.

How about running a line to delete the connections before the line to connect them? I'm not sure of the syntax exactly as we use kixtart scripting but we had a similar issue so we ran a command to disconnect first. I think it would be something like net use s: /DELETE /persistent:no
