  1. My Bad MK-2 and lazerblazer! I only did Welsh in school. I watched it all and knew that but my head was thinking of "The Girl with the dragon tattoo" which I watched recently.
  2. Luther starts again on BBC next Tuesday. The last series was excellent and had Idris Elba from The Wire in it. Now that was a classic.
  3. It is brilliant but I'm surprised you couldn't tell it was Swedish! Did you not do that at school.
  4. I may have made some progress on this today, while in a training session for our new Finance Software (Yep i was bored). I noticed that the newly built machine I was logged on to had the problem even as an admin. I noticed that the proxy server was set as proxy.prentonhigh.local which is correct but I changed it to the IP address of the proxy and BANG the browser went to the homepage immediately. I have no idea why this fixes the problem and it doesn't help us that much as our students use censornet which has to have the dns name for the proxy. It's almost as if DNS stops working until a refresh of the browser!
  5. Strangely it's now working. Ben, my colleague, took the server off a static IP address and put it on dhcp. Then repaired the connection and it started working again? Thanks for the help and suggestions.
  6. Stuck on IE7 due to old software that won't run on 8!
  7. I don't know! I'll take a look though.
  8. I thought it might be DNS but it won't go via IP address either!
  9. Does anyone recognise this problem? We have three websites served from the one virtual server on IIS. Today none of them are working from the shortcuts we usually use eg. http://server:82.mls.net I can't get to them either via IP address BUT if I connect to the server i can view them by going to http://localhost:82/mls.net etc. Any ideas? thanks
  10. Yep, all permissions exactly the same. Having just reread K.C.LeBlanc's post, I will have to check that my user doesn't have any gpos applied to it. I'm pretty sure my user does have them applied.
  11. I think so, I will have a look again.
  12. After logging off as my profile user, I reboot, log in as domain admin, then do a 'copy to' in System Properties->Advanced->User Profiles across to a folder that also contains my other mandatory profiles folder. I then rename the ntuser.dat to ntuser.man?
  13. I must be doing something wrong in this very simple process! Once I have finished and I copy the profile back on to the server and rename ntuser.dat to ntuser.man, allocate that profile to a user and they then log on they have problems! No scripts are run or GPOs applied as far as I can tell. Which bit did I do wrong? Thanks
  14. @Michael I did try that but with same result. I discovered that shortcuts to internal websites worked fine so I created some pages on our internal web server that redirect to the sites I was trying to get to. A bit of a workaround without fixing the problem but it works now!
  15. I'm in the middle of playing with my mandatory profiles and one of the reasons was to try to fix this problem. It didn't work. If a user clicks on a shortcut in their start menu to go to a website e.g. http://www.outlook.com or Prenton High School for Girls the browser opens but then tries to go to the IP address of the site. In the bottom of the browser you can see it saying "Connecting to site 65.54.186.17" but it never resolves to the sites address. If the user then clicks the stop button in the browser the correct web address appears in the address bar, then if they click refresh it goes to the site. Its annoying and some staff find this step too hard to grasp! Can anyone tell me why the broswer would be doing this or how I could alter the shortcut to open the browser then go to the address? Thanks
  16. This is ringing bells, I shall try this first! thanks
  17. Our mandatory profile was created ages ago and I can't remember how, as is always the case with me if I haven't done something in the last month I forget it. I'd like to edit ours as all the users have to refresh internet explorer the first time they open it to get the home page and then they have to click a check box and I'm pretty sure a change to the profile couild fix this. Please help this mans confused brain!
  18. I installed all the updates that were not installed, which included a security fix that I didn't know should have been installed. 1.6 has some quirks so working through them before committing!
  19. Yep we were hacked the day before OFSTED turned up! We are hosted externally and we managed to get the site back up again from backups. The problem i have is I have no idea how to clean it all up again. I'm hoping to move to Joomla 1.6 over the summer.
  20. Are you sure it's the robotsamba on amazon?
  21. And a very negative one here (again in french)... GeeKNewZ.fr » Blog Archive » Scandale Groupon.fr : L’aspirateur robot à 189
  22. Groupon samba : ATTENTION !!!!! (Page 1) View in chrome and translate into english?
  23. It's a module called scroller renat. The site uses joomla.
  24. Anyone seen any reviews of the groupon one? Looks interesting but used one before which was useless!
  25. Ofsted have finished at our school and made the following comment... • the website is ‘one of the best ever seen’. They were referring to our website here Prenton High School for Girls Not sure what to think now?
