I have been asked what would be the best way to keep a log / calendar of all school trips throughout the school year. I started out by suggesting a calendar in a spreadsheet but it seems to be getting bigger and bigger now with the names of all the students going, risk assessment etc. Does anyone know of any software or similar that has been created for this purpose? I feel like such a child. I can't even work out how to do this basic task, please help! I want to create a start page for our techies that would be a thin menu at the top of the page that when the links are clicked our pages, such as glpi or fog, show in the bottom frame. I want the menu to stay at the top all the time. I have tried frames but I am wondering if something else may be prettier? Thanks

Hi, This has happened on and off for months now. We can't decide if it's the way the documents are created or two different printers causing the issue? The document looks like this on screen... but the printed document looks like this... Can anyone make any suggestions as it's causing us grief with the teacher! Thanks

I think we have just cracked roaming profiles for the first time on our network of Server 2008 and xp clients. The whole point of this exercise was so we could allow certain staff to use full outlook 2007. This would be connecting to our live@edu accounts. However i guess we must need to do more redirection somewhere before outlook works as when we run the initial set up and log off and then log on to another machine it runs the initial set up again. Any suggestion please?

Actually I think by default it saves these to a folder called chrome within the users home share folder so ignore me!

Thanks to localzuk I have started installing chrome via an msi and controlling it with group policy. Our current Internet explorer settings move a user's cookies and favourites to a folder in their home share folder but I can't find the gpo setting. Wow there really are a lot of settings! Has anyone else done this?

How do you lock chrome down for the users? We would love to move away from IE.

I do appreciate how this could cause issues and I am expecting too much!

It is indeed only an internal router. I'm annoyed that the mac won't share the internet connection in the same range. I have a few statics at home but I suppose they are only set up to stop my kids going on the internet at certain times so I'll have to re do them at some point.

Can I bump this now that it's daytime rather than evening? I tried everything I could think of bar changing my routers range to 192.168.2.x as it would cock up a few things I have set up.

Sorted it. I was trying to connect to 192.168.0.x when I should have been going to the 192.168.2.x range. Spotted it when I did an ifconfig in terminal. Dummy!

I have shared my mac's wireless internet connection through an ethernet cable to my Humax freesat box. One thing I am supposed to be able to do now after upgrading the firmware is to browse to the boxes IP address to view recorded programs via my computer. The problem is that the mac's shared connection is in the 192.168.2.x range whereas my router's IP range is the 192.168.0.x range. I can't figure out how I can browse to the 192.168.2.9 ip address from my windows PC? Do I need to do some routing on the mac to fix this?

I thought I'd be able to do this in five minutes but 80 minutes later I am still stuck! I have shared out my wireless connection by going into system preferences and clicking sharing and then enabling internet sharing, and ensuring the ethernet option is checked. However when I go into setting on the humax box I come unstuck. I have tried allocating an IP address within the same range as I have at home and using the mac as the router address and as DNS I have tried the mac, the router and google's free dns 8.8.8.8 but still nothing! Any ideas?

I looked in it! I browsed to it and as I have given everybody full access to the share and the folder I could just go straight in there.

Could I have a problem with my clients not writing the profile back? Nearly all our clients are built from the same fog image.If there is a problem on one it will be on all. I have absolutely no error in event viewer so have very little to work with

I'm not sure what usage info I can provide? I'd say we have 850 users on the moodle server with a maximum of about 70 on at once. Although it is installed on ubuntu I would never profess to being a linux master. I can do the basics but no more!

Linux software raid? Never set that up before. I guess I could be on for a new project here!

Our moodle has taken off at last after about three years of promotion. The problem is that it is only running on a dual core workstation with 2Gb of RAM. I have never specifically gone out to buy a server to run linux on as I have always just reused a workstation. Can anyone help out? Thanks

Absolutely no error at all! I have given the user full access on the share and on the folder permissions.

I am currently trying to change a couple of users over to roaming but having problems getting the profile to save back to the server. Luckily no rush for me at the moment.

Did you find moving to roaming profiles painless?

Definitely at log in the folder is created. Weirdly this must mean permissions are right? I have given full access to this user to the share and full permission in security. Still nothing.

Hmm, perhaps it was at log off, I shall go have another look.

I am struggling to get to grips with roaming profiles, can anyone help? I have set the users profile to got to \\server\profiles$\%username% and created the profiles$ share on the server. When the user logs on for the first time to an xp client the profile folder is created in \\server\profiles$ but then nothing ever appears in this folder afterwards when they log off? Has anyone see this before? Thanks

We have been using online outlook for a couple of years and now want to give some of our staff full MS 2007 outlook. The problem seems to be we are running a mandatory profile for all users so their ost file ends up on the local profile. Has anyone managed to use outlook with a mandatory profile or should we be looking at moving these users over to a roaming profile? Thanks
