Is this easy to set up or does it rely on some hard work?

Is the image creation straight forward? I thought you would have an itunes account that somehow links to all ipads and then you sync them all together with something like a parasync or bretford sync trolley?

Managing them is obviously a concern. This is one of the reasons I have asked the question here as I hoped somebody had already experienced this and could share it with us!

I'm open to all suggestions but ipad 2s can are reasonably cheap now. We have a suite of macs which I detest but that's another story!

Hmm, Yesterday we were told by our head that there may be some money for new projects and I thought that maybe IT should get some. We have plenty of laptops, too many, and thought that we should look at something like a trolley of ipads. Does anyone out there actually have something like this and do you think they were a good investment? Thanks

We were just about to purchase 86 new all in ones for our school when the head has put the kibosh on it b y asking us to look at operating leases instead. Our Finance manager has always been against leases but apparently the operating lease makes sense as an academy. Has anyone lease gone down this route before and if so can you give me any advise? Ta

Yep, We fell for it and have made an image ready to roll out to our new domain with Pro. Now we have to start again as there is no upgrade path. Unless anyone know differently!

I would if I could, I already have a thread open explaining that no matter what I do I cannot get software restrictions to apply! I think I may well have to take another look at it.

We have been setting up our new Server 2008 R2 for some time and have nearly finished all our security checks and GPO creation. however one thing which is out of my grasp is being able to stop students right clicking on the Computer icon on the Win 7 desktop and then manage to manage the computer. What would be the best way to lock this down without disabling the right click. thanks

Having spent half a day trying to get applocker to work before realising that it doesn't work on Windows 7 Pro, I have moved to Software Restriction Policies to try to block access to computer management etc. So far I have failed miserably. I placed the restriction in the policy that applies to students but it doesn't block even simple apps like calc.exe. I was hoping I could find a log somewhere to help me but I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I spent a good half a day banging my head against the desk as I just couldn't get Applocker to block access to apps no matter what I tried. I then stumbled across the fact that it doesn't work in Windows 7 pro. Nice one MS. Why would anyone running Pro need it? Huh?

Or it would do if it worked properly.

We are just tweaking our new server 2008 R2 domain that is going live in the summer. We are trying to make it tighter than a gnats chuff so are trying to think of anything that our students might try to show us up as incompetent buffoons. We think we have most stuff locked down now but are having problems with Office. If a user types \\dc1\netlogon they can browse to our netlogon folder, which isn't ideal. So I wondered how to turn off this feature in word and also if I can stop them being able to browse to the netlogon folder! Any ideas?

Ok, The drive size on them is 160GB. They come with a monitor attached which will be either 17" or 19", mostly 19" though. I'll get exact numbers later. If we said £90 for the eee box, monitor, keyboard and mouse what would the response be? I am looking to sell as many in one go as possible.

We are upgrading and will have 56 give or take a couple asus eee B202 boxes that are currently attached to tft monitors. Would anyone be interested in buying or some of them during the June half term? PM me if you are interested or have a question. Thanks

Yep, That does show on XP. Thanks for that but I wouldn't mind having something visible either in the notification area or on the desktop as well.

I can't see in the ini file where you would set this? Have you already done this successfully?

I'm getting annoyed by server 2008 quotas at the moment. Server 2008 will email users to tell them they are close to their quota but I would much rather the client computer told them! Has anyone found any way of doing this successfully? Thanks
