  1. No worries, happy to help. Joe
  2. Hi Phillip I've PM'd a link you may find useful. Joe
  3. A couple of issues with the above as the information is slightly erroneous; Firstly mixed mode wireless is something that all major vendors have offered for a few years now, including Ruckus, what this means is that clients will run to their maximum potential speed i.e. N clients running at N with G clients running simultaneously at G off an 802.11n Access Point. The limitation to speed is the individual clients chipset and not the rest of the network being slowed to the lowest client speed, Ruckus further enhance clients achieving their maximum potential performance through utilisiing AirTime Fairness and Band Steering: http://www.ruckuswireless.com/asset/watch/276 http://www.ruckuswireless.com/asset/watch/301 With regard to the number of AP's I can see where you are coming from and if you were talking about unmanaged AP's I would agree entirely as channel planning is of paramount importance for more than 3 AP's within range of each other. However, one of the main benefits of a system such as Ruckus is that when utilised with the ZoneDirector controller the AP's channel selection and power output is automated. Ruckus uses a technique called ChannelFly to proactively assess the best channel for each AP to maximise perfomance and limit cross channel contention which leads to packet clashes and therefore problems. http://www.ruckuswireless.com/asset/watch/398 Generally speaking the argument for and against single channel architecture (SCA) v's multichannel channel architecture (MCA) is one that will rumble on for sometime depending on which vendors marketing material you choose to believe. It is worth noting though that only 2 major vendors have gone down the single channel route (Extricom & Meru), where as every other vendor has stuck with the multichannel solution. Below are some links and docs discussing the in's and out's of each method so you can draw your own conclusion: WiFi Debate That Wont Die Single Channel Architecture whitepaper from Aruba.pdf To go back to the OP, some solid trouble shooting shouts there, one thing to check; are you using a PSK, if so are you using TKIP or AES? Thanks, Mark

  9. Not a problem Jo, glad to help.
  10. Hey Jo, At first thought I hadnt heard of Ergotron, then remembered I had seen them pop up before: To be honest £1700 does seem somewhat below market value, the Lapsafe version comes in at over £2k for example. Hope that helps.
  11. Hi Sheridan, should be able to walk you through this, have PM'd. Thank, Mark
  12. Waaaaahhh Trade secrets! I use the Twittersphere for a distraction (and to allow the paper cuts to heal!) J
  13. I like to walk a very fine line between personal/professional with mine. Keeps life interesting! Joe
  14. Hi Gongalong, one word answer- Ruckus... Simply put you don't become the most widely deployed wireless solution within UK education without having a solid system, capable of handling with ease the ultra high density nature of classrooms, with unparallelled reliability and a nice straight forward management system. I will drop you a PM to discuss getting you some demo hardware so you can see for yourself. Thanks, Mark
  15. We are a Ruckus Top Dog Partner and specialist in educational wireless deployments; having supplied, installed and supported Ruckus networks within over 400 educational sites within the UK, Europe and UAE we have a plethora of experience and expertise available. With regard to demo kit and site surveys, not a problem at all, PM me your details and I will arrange the rest. As for the site you referenced; it belongs to another partner- Ruckus' channel centered setup means that they work through partners rather than direct. It is worth mentioning though that not all partners are equal (Top Dog, Big Dog and Small Dog; are accreditation levels based on the volume of hardware supplied, experience with the product range, number of trained staff and ancillary services offered). Questions to ask a potential Ruckus supplier would be the number of trained Ruckus WiSE Guy Engineers they have, direct reference sites (rather than generic case studies) and the number/ availability of demo hardware. Thanks, Mark
  16. Some people just love to nag
  17. Not a problem, will have a quote with you shortly. Thanks,
  18. Hi Jack, We sell a lot of Iiyama Monitors into educational facilities without issue so I would opt for those. The iiyama ProLite T2452MTS-B1 23.6" LED Monitor T2452MTS-B1 is well priced for what it is and is multitouch also. Hope it helps. Chris

  20. Howdy all, and a very HNY. Somewhat of a hot topic of late, whether your site embraces the 'dark side' or (like us) you bash them in public but listen to Chesney Hawkes on our iPods...love them or hate them, they're not going anywhere. So if deploying/allocating/tracking/updating/swinging at students for breaking them is part of your already huge daily grind we thought we'd give you a shout. If your (already Herculean) task of managing School's ICT simply can't stretch to include fixing the darned things, allow us to help. Contact/PM us for any Apple equipment you have that needs fixing, sadly however we can't administer corporal punishment to butter-fingered pupils. Not after the last time.
  21. We can certainly help you out there, I will PM with details. Thanks
  22. ha ha ha nice! Definitely a contender for my favourite @YPLAC Joe
