  1. Correct concept but once the area is created, apparently you now edit it in the UI not in code. Also the variable has been renamed to $min_create_ahead_enabled. https://sourceforge.net/p/mrbs/support-requests/1074/
  2. On the topic of searching for missing iPads, you can put them into Lost Mode (iCloud) - this turns on location services regardless of the device setting, and thus reports where it is as long as it has power and WiFi.
  3. I think you’ll find far more customers use Salamander; Locker rarely pops up/gets mentioned on here.
  4. We have approx 20 accounts and there could be 3 exams going on at once, some using reader, some using writer and some using both. So 1 profile with preloaded PDF path wouldn’t work. Unlesss... the path said “[MyDocs]/MainPaper.pdf” and /SupplementaryPaper.pdf then we renamed the various papers as we dropped them in the user area. Does it fail silently if the paper doesn’t exist (if they’re non-reader students)?
  5. But again, you’re assuming modifying profiles each day/exam or having multiple profiles - we currently have one static profile with fixed settings in :-)
  6. Awesome! He also mentioned... when it IS a read&write session, being able to pre-load the PDF for reading (and for him to test the headphones), prior to filling in the WhoAmI boxes, would be useful so we don't have to rely on the kids browsing to the PDF after they've filled in their details?
  7. My technician (who looks after EWP etc) was just asking me if this feature existed, as we could get rid of our other ReadWrite software. However - could this feature be expanded so when you launch EWP, it asks you whether you want reading only (as above) rather than it being sent down in config? We have one master config file that we send to all users, then the technician preps the room and opens all the necessary software etc. Being able to click a "Reader mode only" button at start-up and simply open the PDF he's reading would be awesome.
  8. Fair comment. We have an a distribution rota where support staff have assigned areas/corridors/offices to distribute paper/verbal messages to in the event of emergency that can't use IT or delivery needs to be assured. I would say they photocopy the messages before distributing them, but...
  9. We use Impero to popup messages for important issues such as when the No 43 bus is late(!).

  11. I've just screen-recorded me creating the report but it's just processing; i'll upload tomorrow.
  12. See attached screenshot and report definition that you can import into SIMS > Reports > Import. It's called "Parental Consent PAH" and is filtered on First Aid consent, to give you an example. Peter ConsentReport.zip
  13. He's only seeing (count) on the right hand side because he's not selected sub-fields on the left hand side, within that blue sub-data-set. I have permissions to all of SIMS and see the same as your screenshot when not inside the blue dataset, but if you click your mouse onto the Parental Consent dataset on the right, your field set on the left will show the same as OPs.
  14. Hi There is only one data field under Parental Consents, which (unhelpfully in this case) is itself called Parental Consent - so on the left of your screenshot you need to add the field over to the right as you would any other field. Peter
  15. Once you've added "Parental Consent" to the right hand side, click on it and the field list on the left will change from the student details(etc etc etc) to the fields relating to Parental Consent - you then need to add at least one field from here. I can't find Consents in the list to give you the exact screenshot, but it's the same concept:
  16. Our ID card software (Card Exchange) can read from various data sources including SQL - I don't know if it reads Excel or CSV as well, but either way you could mass-export the timetable from MIS to CSV/Excel/SQL table then point the ID card software at it. I might try this just for the hell of it!
  17. We're ditching CC4 this summer. We are CC4 Matrix so some of the deep integration is already separated, so I don't see the need to rebuild the domain - we're just going to stop the RM services, disable the various RM management/service accounts, then rebuild the PCs onto the existing domain. Will need to look at GPPs to replace some of RM Desktop Agent for mapping printers/drives etc but that's the only core thing i found missing when I started dabbling last year. Current plan is to go to PDQ Smart Deploy for building/deployment but not committed yet - i'm on leave next week (in lieu of working through Easter) then when I'm back it will be full-charge at testing/evaluating. It seems to be that bit of glue between raw MDT and a fully proprietary solution like RM. We're PDQ already so any packages in last 5 years have been built in PDQ not RM, so it's only any legacy packages that we definitely need that will need rebuilding.
  18. Would time-slip cause that error? I know you can't logon if time is too far out, but not sure if that's the right sort of error you'd get?
  19. I was sent this yesterday as we're tendering our renewal. https://m365maps.com/files/Microsoft-365-Education-All.htm It's a very good map and is interactive/clickable with links to what each tile represents.
  20. We just migrated Year 12 last week. Eventually got all but 7 mailboxes migrated via various means including removing those properties you referred to. I had to unlicense them, disable-mailbox, enable-mailbox then restore mailbox content from Veeam backup to (now empty) onprem mailbox, then do sync again.
  21. Tendered 100 PCs last month which Stone won. Ryzen 5, 8GB, 250SSD.
  22. One other note about patches though - if you see Workstation Update patches, they can/should be deployed as they fix things that the server update missed, usually when DfE change stuff. Otherwise ignore the patches unless someone says "x is broke" and there's a patch that fixes "x".
  23. Ignore the FileSets and Patches for now, unless someone tells you to. (Filesets can be imported manually by the data manager or census/workforce census staff) Open SIMS and see what version you're on in Help > About. Version 7.216 is Spring Release, 7.214 was Autumn 2023 and 7.212 was Summer 2023. Personally I would go through Autumn before Spring. Make sure you've got a number of client PCs on because the upgrade will fail if it doesn't meet a certain %age of clients online/successful, then approve the Full Release - it will do the DB automatically so you don't need to do them separately. I'm pretty sure SOLUS takes a backup before it runs - our disk ran out due to three copies of backups the same night I did SOLUS so I reckon SOLUS made one of them.
  24. Ditto re AudioWorks. They've done every AV install here in the last 15(?) years.
  25. Don't prompt to ask at runtime. (Tick them in that page in the designer instead)
