We send away 2-3 devices for repair every day of the week (1800 pupils Y7-Y13). We use Eden's BreakFix policy, which is not-an-insurance policy; you get two free fixes per device (or six per three-year-scheme) before they say no. If they say no, you just have to pay for that repair. No hassle.

I would have doubted what you were saying - until 10 minutes into our staff training day, when the projection suddenly started flickering to a point of nausea. We swapped to the PC in the booth rather than the floor for the rest of the day, then looked into it. Anything running 'full screen' eg Powerpoint would flicker; if you took it out of full screen and just stretched it to nearly-full screen, it would be fine.... Various fiddling with cables, swapping inputs to outputs etc, and the problem has gone away but we couldn't put our finger on any one issue that caused it to go wrong mid-operation untouched.

Hi I'm familiar with the Core Blocked Content group, and I included the categories that are within it in my first post. Wikimedia was not previously blocked, and today I've had staff mention that pinterest is being blocked. Both 'could' host content that appears in several of those categories in my first post, but my understanding (particularly since the customer conference last week) is that these two websites should be dealt with by content detection, not URL blocking, to avoid overblocking?

Hi A student has just alerted us that wikimedia is blocked, and looking in Smoothwall it's blocked by Core Blocked Content. Does anyone know if this is new, intentional or an accident by Smoothwall? Peter

Yeah that's fine; my use-case idea is for eg Year 7 Induction evening next week, or Y13 Consultation Evening tonight, or iPad collection arrangements for the new intake. Each of those types of events are communicated no more than 3 weeks in advance, then there's 2-3 emails about them as we get nearer including their login codes for Parents Evening System (assuming TES haven't completely broken it!).

And if you're looking for something that you either know you've seen/been sent or have heard you've missed, it's easy to go to the school channel in Whatsapp and just see the info, rather than searching your emails for something in whichever inbox you filed it in (or didn't).

Yes, they've covered all our area (Bingley/Keighley) and are getting excellent traction. I've got them at home and at church and a lot of folk are moving to them from Virgin Media and others. I heard a story couple of months ago from a local; he had a problem with BRSK and the engineer was there within the hour to fix it. (Possibly because they were in the area still flooding all the main roads with fibre ready to add customers at the drop of a hat, but even so)

We send everything by email, but a lot ends up in spam (particularly where we've mail-merged details and hence it gets processed as 1500 emails rather than 1 email with 1500 recipients). We also have school facebook, twitter and instagram accounts which are used well - and triggers emails to IT of "I saw this on FB but you didn't email me it" where I reply "check your spam/junk folders". I did see the WhatsApp channels this morning (from ANME) and forwarded to our marketing lady; I reckon it would be useful for message/event alerts if we leave out the "social" stuff, so it becomes a business noticeboard rather than social following.

I don't think we deploy it anywhere any more, but our entry in RM CC4's console for deployment is: exactly as written.

The final page of the report designer ("Default output") has a title field at the top that most people probably ignore. It's possibly there?

Ah, those are Parent Mail which is different - not sure if you've intentionally or unintentionally mentioned both Parent Mail and ParentPay in the same conversation? MIS:Sync is ParentPay and is the one i'm familiar with; can't help with Parent Mail. Peter

Is this MIS:Sync? If so it's a two-second install on the server, log in with SIMS and ParentPay credentials, then optionally setup scheduled tasks.

Install the lite version then restore the DB - the registration comes with the restore.

As above, nice and easy. Did it this summer. If you have IO boards (input/output relay boxes) you need to untick them in the old server before you move, then tick them (and possibly talk nicely to them) in the new server to get them to re-talk to it. (I had to tick DHCP, save, untick DHCP, save, on each board to get them to wake up - doubt that's the official solution but it worked!)

We do this with Powershell for onprem Exchange; I'm sure there will be equivalent for 365.
