They didn't say. Our SIMS upgrade failed about 4 times due to size of transaction log, size of DB, disk capacity and timeouts relating to failing to set single-user-mode when it's already set. I went to bed at 1am with the upgrades rolled-back and SIMS working for me, but several staff couldn't get in (reason 0) this morning - I had to restore to last nights backup at half 8. England v Netherlands v SIMS tonight.

Wonde and Salamander have confirmed ok. You need to upgrade Wonde to 2.7.* but NOT until you've done the SIMS upgrade; it sounds to me that it's not backward-compatible which kinda makes sense. I'll be upgrading tonight as we don't use any other major sync tools.

Groupcall confirmed they've updated XPorter and we may proceed with the update.

Inventry LiveChat have confirmed theirs is fixed and customers can now update SIMS if they haven't already. I'm about to contact Wonde and GroupCall and ask the same question.

Can't register new personal apple IDs on @ourschool.com
howartp replied to howartp's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
If you saying the AppStore can be made available on devices signed into managed IDs then a) I apologise and b) I might just love you? We spent ages 18 months ago reading about this and found no evidence of it nor suggestions it could be done? -
This! I came to say, “can they host the video somewhere and require us to complete it?” If National College can do it, staff all have logins already for it so win-win!

Can't register new personal apple IDs on @ourschool.com
howartp replied to howartp's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
We have 2000 users. The vast majority of them have had personal Apple IDs since before managed apple IDs existed and certainly before we moved to using managed IDs last year. You have no idea why we wouldn't want to suddenly remove the App Store and any paid app purchases from our staff and students who have been able to use their iPads perfectly normally for the last 11 years? It's taken a lot of SLT conversation and pastoral work to decide and then communicate to staff and to year 7 parents that when the new intake join the school, they will be locked down with no app store, particularly when older siblings still have the app store. -
Just use the clear button on the switch - it'll clear password and leave everything else intact.

Can't register new personal apple IDs on @ourschool.com

We started syncing users from Salamander/SFTP 6-9 months ago; prior to that we did a manual SFTP upload. Nothing changed this week. -
Hello. For the last two days we've been unable to register new staff/student personal Apple IDs using @ourschool.com - they just throw an error. We've been on the phone to Apple for 2 hours - apparently when we registered @ourschool.com with school.apple.com last year (quite possibly 365 days ago) it should immediately have stopped us registering personal Apple IDs against @ourschool.com but it didn't. Our new intake last summer are on Managed AppleIDs, and each new intake will be moved on to managed IDs, but all staff and students in upper years are all on personal IDs with full app store access. Has anyone else hit this issue and been able to overcome it? We're not set-up or ready for managed IDs for staff or upper school yet so we really need to get it fixed if it's possible? Any ideas? Peter

[Cynical me]That's great, as long as my Smoothwall stays up more than two weeks at a time without needing reboot[/cynical] [Realistic me whose renewal for 224 cores is due in less than a fortnight]I've just messaged Jess![/realistic] -
I took a bank loan out to pay off the balloon and retain the car. Payments are less than I was paying PCP and the car is running fine so I'm not worried about it. It's also still under GAP top-up insurance which I renew every year.

As a matter of interest, my data team are also seeing multiple deadlocks this week - but we haven't upgraded to Summer yet.

Locker / Salamander Users... I need your guidance
howartp replied to Planehazza's topic in MIS Systems
AllStaff, ClassroomStaff and TeachingStaff is automatic based on the existence of a timetable. DSLStaff and SLTStaff are manual groups in AD that we maintain manually - but we don't tend to get new DSLs every day... -

The sounds are the "Missing Registration Notification", which are issued by your attendance team. Simple way to mute them is to just do your register on time, then you won't get sent an alert.

Exchange Migration 2010 to 2016 to online
howartp replied to mthomas08's topic in Enterprise Software
Have you any geoblocking in place? We migrated (hybrid) to 365 earlier this year having banged my head for ages - one of the commands in the hybrid wizard was talking to a server we had geoblocked. Peter -
We don't give the codes to students; we have the rooms logged into generic accounts when they arrive, opened on the test login page, and the code is printed on a label stuck to the monitor/placed on the keyboard for the student to type in. Honestly if we emailed them, 50-80% of the class would "not be able to find them" when it came to doing the test!

Ah, you might be stuck then. I’m not an expert in this area though so someone else may know better.
