  1. The more Windows 10 beds in the lower number of black screens we are getting. We are using local profiles and once a user has logged in then they do not seem to get a black screen on subsequent logins.
  2. Yes that is the one, it also causes alot of traffic between the workstations and the internet.
  3. Do you not have a SAN. I would put a new Fujitsu server in with a load of ram. The VMWare software sits on the motherboard therefore no discs are needed.
  4. Has anybody tried disabling the 'Connected User Experience and telemetry service'. I have recently disabled this service and have found that I hardly get any black screens now.
  5. I use a small program called Airytec Switch Off to shut down all my computers. We have them all start between 07 - 07.30 in the morning using the BIOS APM setting and then at weekends the Airytec Switch Off shuts them all down at 0800 to save electric. End of the day use Impero to select all computers not in use to shutdown.
  6. Our Windows 2012 servers are having a hard time getting updates online. When searching for updates the CPU usage is nearly 100%. I have found a new update client for Windows server 2012 R2 but cannot find anything for the earlier version 2012. Anybody had the same issue??
  7. I run the Office updates as they come in. Cumulative updates every half term on everything. Use PDQ to deploy all Flash/Java/Silverlight/Adobe Reader/Chrome updates as they are updated. Stops the 'I am trying to shutdown the computer but it will not shutdown' from staff who then unplug it from the wall and crash it.
  8. Would be interesting to hear what the main problems seem to be with the guys who are having major problems with Impero. We have been running Impero for about 18 months now and do not experience any issues at all. We went full Windows 10 over the summer throughout the school and apart from a few workstations having the Impero service stop now and again (Mind you the Solus 3 service also stops) we have not experienced any issues at all. We don't use the patch management option or power option but we do utilise everything else.
  9. What sort of login times are you getting?
  10. When you created the image did you sysprep with an Unattend file?
  11. Just noticed a weird thing. We are completely Windows 10 throughout our school. We use local profiles with redirected Desktop and start menu but the app data is set as not configured. We have recently noticed that an app data folder is being created in the users home folder, which then increases in size, even though we do not have roaming profiles or have app data folder redirection set.

    DDR2 Memory

Anybody got any 2Gb sticks of old DDR 2 lying around that they do not want. Have 5 old workstations that could do with an extra 2Gb just until we get some money to buy some new ones.
  13. How do you check if your SCP is setup in Active Directory and where in Azure AD do I see the Sync'd computers?
  14. Does anybody know of any Educational ICT support job website or companies covering southern Spain??
  15. We use Impero and do not use the Patch Management and still get the black screens so I do not think it is the Patch Management.
  16. Make sure you create your default profile as a local admin, preferably logged in as admin under audit mode. Do not create as a domain user. There are loads of posts about creating it but I think the MS is the best. We have created it by doing the MSN method and it all works fine. All down to permissions on the hive and creating as a non domain user.
  17. We currently have approx 80 Macs running 10.10.4. They are all integrated into Active Directory and are managed by 10.10.4 Yosemite Profile Manager. We have a set dock and the user's home drive and student shared drives are set on the desktop. The issue we are having is that on random workstations when students are logging in it is not applying the profile from profile manager for all users and therefore students do not see their home drive or the managed dock. It only happens on 2 or 3 workstations out of a room of 30 and we either have to refresh the policy from Profile Manager or in some events delete the Library folder from the students home area. Any help or information on this would be greatly appreciated as it is a daily issue.
  18. What sort of login speeds are you getting. Mandatory profile works fine now, login speed about 25-30 seconds.
  19. Same issue here on Windows 10 1511. Had it before updates and after. Seems to be a common problem which is more common when the workstation first switch's on.
  20. What method did you use to create your Mandatory profile?
  21. Let me know how you get on as I would also like to get this working.
  22. Many thanks for the advice guys. In the short term I think we will replace with Hitachi Ultra Short Throw Projectors but in the long term will be fitting interactive screens. MYK-IT thanks for the Roche AV information, just what I was looking for.
  23. Hi, We currently have about 30 Smartboard Installations with either UF 55 or UF 65 projectors installed and quite a few of them have dead pixels showing like a starry night on the screen. We have had quotes to repair the DMD chip on them which causes the pixel issue but the chip is between £250 and £300 plus repair and shipping costs does not make it a viable option. Apart from getting a replacement Smartboard solution what are other schools using to either replace the UF 55/65 projectors or complete solutions.
  24. Microsoft has also released a new CU Build for version 1511. For those running Windows 10 November update, KB3185614 brings Windows 10 Build 10586.589. Read the full official changelog below. Key changes include: •Improved reliability of Internet Explorer 11, USB, and the .NET framework. •Addressed issue with the link to “Change my environment variables” in the User Accounts Control Panel not working correctly. •Addressed issue where a device, which previously had Internet access, has the incorrect time and date after joining a network with no Internet access to SSL servers. •Addressed issue where someone with a mandatory profile can’t use the Start menu, Cortana, search, and some pre-installed apps. •Addressed issue where, after installing a package using Windows Installer (MSI), customers can’t run any command line utility unless they restart or sign out and then sign in to their device. •Addressed issue causing “Print all linked documents” to not work in Internet Explorer 11. •Improved support for networks by adding new entries to the Access Point Name (APN) database. •Removed the Copy Protection option when ripping CDs in Windows Media Audio (WMA) format from Windows Media Player. •Addressed additional issues with excessive security logging, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), consumer storage, Add-On List Group Policy Object, mobile broadband, filter drivers, Internet Explorer 11, Windows Media Player, graphics, revised daylight saving time, and Windows Shell. •Security updates to Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Edge, Windows Secure Kernel Mode, Windows SMB Server, Windows kernel, Windows Lock Screen, and Adobe Flash Player.
  25. We had the same problem and found that on newer ASUS motherboards there is a Fast startup option that had to be disabled. Also with Windows 10 I found that I had to enable PME in the BIOS as well as WOL.
