I use slightly different method. I edit the install.wim from the Windows 10 edu 1511 iso and remove the default apps, just leaving photo's and calculator. Then rebuild iso and make bootable DVD. I think it is the best option in the long run. Even if they bring out a new Redstone build I will be sticking with 1511 until they bring out Redstone build 3. I think they are going to be bringing a new one out every year!!!!

No I would create shared folders for staff and students and redirect to the shared folders.

No it should not affect login speeds. If you only have shortcuts which are very small it would not affect login speeds. How did you have your desktop folder redirection setup?

What I have done is disable the need for Ctrl alt delete and just have the username and password screen. I have set a background for this using Windows login background changer 1.5 by alfawaves.

Yes. Built my standard image, without apps, removed them from install.wim before build. After sysprep and redeployment, installed all applications (including SIMS.Net), logged in as local admin and export startmenu.xml using powershell. Put the XML in a staffshared folder and then apply Group policy to staff. Have desktop, startmenu redirected and start tiles coming from xml file. Only thing I found is it does not like having Internet explorer, edge etc pinned to the startmenu.xml so I just put the basic apps on the start tile and then put IE and the rest on desktop and in start menu.

It has to be in the web\screen folder. You Haven't made any registry entries to not use a login background. Check this registry entry, what is yours set to? [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System] "DisableLogonBackgroundImage"=dword:00000001

Copy your default login page image to c:\Windows\web\screen Set the default login screen image by going to GPEDIT.MSC. Go to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization. Open ‘Force a specific default lock screen image’ and click enable. Put the above path in the ‘Path to lock screen image’. Open the ‘Prevent changing lock screen image’ and click on enable.

I have the same issue. With my Windows 10 deployment I have Office 2016 and 64bit workstations but my Windows 7 is 32 bit and Office 2013. I setup new group policies for folder redirection and put a WMI filter on them.

I use a slightly different method. Download - Windows 10 Login Changer - By Alphawaves - and this will allow you to set the background image on the sign in screen. I then made a logo 192 x 192 pixels png file and called it user-192 and then copied that into the c:\programdata\microsoft\User Account Pictures folder. This now gives me a corporate user image for all users and a set background for the username/password screen. I also copy a background and logon screen image to the Windows web and screen folders and set this on the local computer group policy User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Desktop and Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization. This then gives you a full corporate feel on everthing. If you do this on your reference workstation before you sysprep it will apply to all new workstations.

Hi Andrew, We are at the same stage as you and I am looking for the same solution. I only have that and an issue that when a user logs out the logout screen reverts back to the default windows blue. Do you have the same issue?

Yea have spent ages trying to find the same solution. Have tried creating a theme and it applies but still the same when logging off. Just wondering if it applies a picture at the logoff as in the Windows web folder is a jpg that is the same as the default logoff colour but cannot change it!!!!

Just in the final throws of trying to apply our corporate colours to our build. Have changed the default background, Login screen image and set the colour for the default user which are all mainly purple. Only issue I have is when a Student logs off the log off screen goes back to the default windows blue. Anybody else have this problem?

I remove the apps from the install.wim then re-build a new ISO. Are you using the new default profile on multiple computers?

I am using wds just create a new capture and deployment wim from your boot.wim of your win 10 ISO.

Am nearing the end of my Windows 10 development getting ready for deployment. Have downloaded the latest Windows 10 1511.1 Feb 2016 ISO from VLSC. Stripped all the default Microsoft apps from the install.wim file and set the local group policy to disable the customer experience live apps (Twitter, candy crush etc) therefore I have no Microsoft apps on my start menu. Have created a master image and used the copy profile method but after imaging the default profile is still 180mb. Anybody got any experience of reducing the default profile as this is my last hurdle.

Does anybody use Impero on their Macs. Have recently installed it on 70 Yosemite clients and are having problems with the internet being intermittent. Also how do you monitor web history in Safari??

Hi, Just wondering what authentication methods schools are using for their iPads through Smoothwall. We have a mixture and some are just used for Staff but some are used for Staff and Students. Any suggestions will be most welcome.
