I'd show them the cost of replacing them with truly rugged or even semi rugged laptops. That'll quieten them down I reckon :-) Sounds clear though that the issue is behavioural with the damage Geoff. Couple of schools I know strategically pick out one of the bunch from each year and then anoint them the 'digital leader' or some such, and teach them about the devices, why they're important, what they cost, how they get fixed, best practice, trouble shooting, software package overview to help out the others, etc. Once done, damage tends to reduce, behaviour improves, the devices get used appropriately to assist learning and teaching. It's all a bit psychological but it works and it works well.

The VeryPC Nano uses the Foxconn barebone kit yes. I wouldn't exactly say 'rebranded' as we rebuild them, pop in the ram and hard drive according to the clients requirement, and then offer support and warranty for the duration. It's the support side that keeps customers coming back to us for more Mike. I like the new BayTrail Nano as it is on a par with 4th gen NUC boards in real life tests and is quieter, cooler and draws less power. I think that because the Nano offers VGA and HDMI it's more useful than a NUC, but we do like a bit of NUCy here at VeryPC too, and the Nano Silent is based on the NUC boards.

I'm not violent, but frankly I don't care who you are, if you come at me after I've been hard at work all day doing the important stuff to make you look good, screamed abuse at me in a drunken slur about not having hot food whilst you've been in the pub all day and I've been doing the real work, and then tried to split my lip... Well.... I'd have given Clarkson an almighty head butt, stood over him for a second laughing and probably said "and on that bombshell" and tipped my drink over him, before collecting my possessions. Despite the likely frantic round of applause from all the other Top Gear staff I'd fully expect to be sacked. I do miss Top Gear and Clarkson on the telly though. We once had a staff paint ball day and our TomB kept shooting me after he'd already shot me. I didn't punch him. I like my job.

Apologies for the misunderstanding mate. My reputation and integrity is all I've got so I will defend it and I got it wrong on this occasion. I'm a big tablet advocate though. My goal is to continue to ask the tough question of "why" when it comes to customers asking for them. I've seen unbelievably good results and significant improvements to school life when the complete package has been properly thought out.

Bashing what competition? We have the option of reselling these just as well as Insight do, although not as effectively as Insight as you seem to be pushing these like crazy. I expressed a personal opinion that within schools they're a throw away expense, unsuited to typical network deployments in quantity and that people should probably look at alternatives to the Linx that have that bit more oomph accessories and support network. I'm satisfied that people like @witch think they're awesome for home use (I'm definitely warming to this idea as I trust her judgement) and that there are applications where a Network Manager or staff member could benefit from their usage. I could say that you're trying to use my post to promote yourself. So "in the interest of fairness" then, how long have you spent with a Linx tablet in your own hands and what's your feedback? To how many customers does the quoted 95% positive feedback apply? How long have they had them? What are they used for? If you could expand on this, it'd help the OP and the community decide better on their potential areas of use. In addition I cannot even begin to fathom what dark room I'd be taken into here if I ever wrote, "the product we're selling is cheap therefore you must expect a few failures" Jeez.
