  1. Check the dates the lesson is scheduled in Nova and check the start date of the student - this is where I normally find the solution.
  2. The only other things I can see on SupportNet are:- 1 - Try changing the location where you will be storing the Census files 2 - Check your local settings and ensure CommandTimeout=7000000 is set in the client (local) connect.ini
  3. HELP / About SIMS.net will give you the lowdown on your current version - you should have Build 4 Version 7.159 and a database build ending in 172
  4. And is it on fileset 172? There were a number of issues reported on the Capita Forum (SupportNet) earlier this month.
  5. Is it fully patched?
  6. I've been running it for a couple of weeks and the only thing I've noticed is the slow response when answering calls - there's a slight delay between swiping to accept and the call connecting. Other than that it's fine on my 4S.
  7. I guess he's rather busy right now http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/142852-its-boy.html
  8. I'm with Bestie
  9. I went to get some for you only to find:- Dear Colleagues Thank you for logging onto the portal, we are delighted with the high volume of users that have looked at the new system and the useful feedback we have received. In order to action some of this feedback we have taken the Beta Portal out of service while some immediate enhancements are being made. A notification will be posted on SupportNet when the Beta is once again available. Kind regards Steve Russell IT Director One step forwards.........
  10. We're predominantly AS/A2 here and I found Course Manager straight forward. I set up default qualification hours for AS and A2 based on timetabled hours using Course Manager Settings. I also set up default hours for GCSE resits etc; basically making sure every course a sixth former could take had default settings. I used Maintain Course to make sure each subject was allocated to the correct level which meant these default hours carried through to all the courses and meant I only need a few tweaks to accommodate some minor differences. I then used Maintain Programmes of Study to add a nominal 35 hours per year to all students to cover non-qualification hours.
  11. We welcome your contribution to our customer forums. Comments will normally appear immediately, but to ensure constructive conversation we reserve the right to suspend, remove or edit comments at any time that: are not libelous Interesting thought, only libelous posts allowed
  12. Just noticed your reference to a Y7 student and Y8 tutor groups. Is this correct or just a typo?
  13. Is the correct registration group showing in the pupil's record (Focus / Student / Student Details)?
  14. Have you checked the effective date of the timetable you are looking at?
  15. If it's patch 19945, we applied that live yesterday with no apparent harm.
  16. There are a number of issues with the 172 fileset that are being reported on the Capita Forum - there is a patch that has come out today, Patch 19945, that "resolves the problem".
  17. Thanks for the responses. A common theme seems to be that there is no way of proving a message is understood regardless of the medium, which is a point I have made before to no avail. Those systems we have do report duff e-mail addresses to us, and we do an annual check-up on contact details (paper-based, of course). I guess what I really want to know is how to persuade the powers that be that moving away from paper will not lead to Armageddon?
  18. I've been tasked with looking at our systems and procedures with the aim of streamlining them and reducing the astronomical amount of paper we generate. One area I'm looking at is Parental Engagement - currently we do all communication with parents via paper, despite the fact that we have systems in place for online reporting, payments and ad hoc communication. The pervading opinion here is one of "we must have complete confidence that the message has got through". Two key issues that are being thrown up whenever alternatives are discussed are:- 1 - How do we replace the (parentally) signed slips acknowledging receipt of the latest missive? 2 - How do we ensure parents are able to receive the message i.e. how do we know they have internet access? Even when the luddites accept that using such advanced technologies as SMS could provide improved communication there are still questions raised like "how do we know the parent has read the message"; "how can the parent print the document"; "how do we prove we told the parent?". Any tips, advice or condolences gratefully received.
  19. One of the benefits of living in deepest, darkest eStanglia is this probably won't affect us for a couple of decades
  20. This is my first mobile, bought from Tandy many, many moons ago. I've still got the same number too (albeit amended in the early 2000's by the Big Number Change). This has a 120 degree bend on it
  21. I can't outdo @vikpaw 's comprehensive response, but can add that the Missing Registers Notification on the Home Page is sortable by teacher name, so it is easy enough to use to see if they have missed a register.
  22. Make sure they are adjusted to the right width for the nut and use lightly and you should by OK. You don't want a distorted nut
