  1. It does yes. It works the same as taking attendance normally in that it can cache the attendance offline (originally for when you go out of wireless, on a school trip etc), let's you take the fire register quickly in single taps, and then see who is missing, and importantly who is missing who should be there!
  2. Or you look at software that can cache your attendance info and so even if your server room burns data is still available? I have fears of the old days when admins would sit and wait for lists to print while the fire alarm is ringing...
  3. Understood. What about BYOD for an electronic solution - staff use their own mobiles.
  4. Would you not be considering an electronic approach for this, in 2016?
  5. The project more that served it's purpose in that a year later it is still being asked about by LAs schools and suppliers - and that it is a point of reference to know just who is out there.
  6. Wow... nice to see this revived!
  7. Completely agree. Was all over the place had a lot to bring into ep 1 for an iconic series. But enjoyable to learn what we learned all in one ep, if all a bit too easy and convenient. It needs to slow down a bit yet keep the pace up so we do not get frustrated with stand out episodes like before.
  8. Assuming we all watched on Monday... what did we think?
  9. Have you looked at these guys: http://www.parentpaperwork.com
  10. Perhaps put this directly to Capita or @PhilNeal will be the quickest way to get an answer. Having also completed this self certification form for the DfE, I suspect there is actually context to the question, which would explain the differences you bring up.
  11. Progresso is an entirely new product, it has no connection whatsoever (timetable aside) to CMIS, other than they are both under the wing of Advanced Learning.
  12. I have not no, but I suspect this is the same chap who I have spoken to on twitter. A great project, good luck with it let me know if I can help.
  13. My apologies genuinely did not see that. Withdraw previous comment.
  14. It would appear the thread has been deleted Ali
  15. I thought the SIMS award was for TeacherApp? Or do was being marketed... are you saying it is actually Assessment @PhilNeal ?
  16. Surely you then need to be a partner and pay up? Like we all do?
  17. Have you tried giving Bromcom a ring?
  18. Initially, this will not be covering school to school transfers, it is centred on the school to gov hierarchical model - though the recommendations I made to DfE in the report to the last year said otherwise.
  19. With a certain degree of smugness, very happy to have heard this from the Education Secretary at the opening keynote of BETT last week: "My department intends to begin prototyping new systems for data collection - data exchange - in 2016. It will implement common data standards and work with the Access 4 Learning Community who have achieved great things locally and internationally. This will make it easier for schools to share data with us. It will reduce our data burden on the sector and provide, and enhance both what we know, and how quickly we know it. Better system integration should allow education technology firms to enable easier data movement within and between schools." Full transcript available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/nicky-morgan-bett-show-2016
  20. You should be aware that VS Ware no longer operate in the UK. Ireland only. Also, there are a number on that list that are not MIS products, such as TASC but feed data from an MIS.
  21. BETT is only a day away, I'm sure there will be plenty on offer this year on the theme of consolidation of parental communication, data collection and other such.
  22. Office area fine and warm. Toilets bleeding freezing
  23. Company should take a long hard look at itself... who still uses Yahoo Messenger? < Awaits backlash >
  24. Now you are talking commercial arrangements. It will be a 'bolt on' in the technical sense as it will be different technology for different platforms, managing connections, managing what is and isn't practical to use on a small or touch device (building timetables?). This is about the commercials, do you get it included for x price - which is then just another module.
