one of my deputy dawgs was looking for help in arranging playgound/first aid duties. basically got a list of teachers/tas and 3 breaks morning/lunch/afternoon and wants to allocate people to different roles (teachers/tas not on lunchtime playground but available for first aid duty) Any suggestions for a prog to help to do this? Si People on playground can't be first aid duty and vice versa

Its just a judgement of statistical chance. Their is an x% chance of the bulb blowing at a point in its projected lifetime which I believe increases with age. Leaving it on for an hour extra at lunchtime just ever so slightly decreases the total expected number of days that the bulb will last. You pretty much know what the downside is. Turning it off and on again on the other hand - doubles the number of times the projector is power cycled. Nobody really knows what effect this will have on the lifetime of the bulb but us oldsters all "know" that leaving something on will almost always increases its lifetime over switching it off and on again (They don't like the surge up them captain! ) So - one one hand you can pretty much say that you'll reduce the number of days between needing new bulbs from 40*5*7 to 40*5*6 (e.g about 15% reduction by leaving it on all the time) but if you double the number of power cycles -????? I'd rather take the known hit than the unknown one - but I'm predjudiced as I used to work with thermionic valves costing £10K and by golly - we treated them better than our own children Si PS who turns their servers off at night????

I think he needs the app that scans a cd, finds the images, works out where the head is and guesses what size to reduce it to and automatically matches up to the correct pupil in SIMS Si

These are Win7 64 bits clients ;( How do I install Win 7 64bit drivers on the server - everything I try only gives me options for w2k3/XP and below I've downloaded the Win7 64 bit driver and files are in a folder but I can't do anything with them. regards Simon

I'm having problems in finding a working script to add a printer to a Win7 client. I don't use AD I just have my server as a file/print/dhcp/dns server and with XP machines I can simple run a nice vbs script to add printer/and or set default. I couldn't get these to work on Win7 machines but since I was setting up batches I just manually added them into my first machine and then cloned the machine. This policy has now completely failed me when the suite printer went AWOL and I put a new model in instead - all XP sorted on next re-boot - but I'm having to around the Win7 teachers machines one at a time and sort them out I got caught out big time as it turns out a lot of them didn't have the school photocopier installed either So is it actually possible (in the real world ) to script the addition of a w2k3 server printer for a win7 client? Just seen this thread - I think you may be able to save yourself an awful amount of dosh if the Ubiquiti Unifi APs do what you want. At <£200 for a pack of three - I'd really recommend that you buy a set and try them out. They have worked fine in a trial with me and I'm in the middle of rolling about 12 out to cover a 1.5 form entry primary school. I don't need 5Gz coverage but I believe new versions are on their way that offer that. Based on previos experience £200 will be about 10% of a Ruckus system so well worth giving them a go - I'll buy them off you for £100 if they don't work out Si

Sorry<£zillion equates to <£100 on my budget Just after the screen - I'm sure I've seen some sort of kiddie type play tent thingy somewhere . I do have a "proper" green screen cloth but its not very managble taking it around schools without an iron and ironing board as it gets very creased:) Si

I missed it as well ! I like the idea as it saves on need for mains extension block as well Unluckily, the school had previously bought Viglen all in one jobby's as teh classroom PC where there isn't enough space to add in any more cards so it would have to be external USB dongle And I do like the main PC to be wired if possible. But worth adding into the mix Si

I liked the 60 day timeout on drawpr as I was thinking that it would let my teachers upload videos themselves and then all they'd have to do is past the link into a web article - the 60 day timeout would work fine for a primary website Si PS Just tried to use wetransfer and it wants to use email addresses so another plus for drawpr

My Ruckus APs have 2 ethernet ports on them - I've always assumed that these formed a switch and that I could connect one port to the wall socket and use the other to connect to a class PC - I'm a right or have I made a bad assumption???? Si
