  2. I'm working in my hols so not best please already! before hols - stuck 2 Unifi in a school - one connected to LAN - one used to bridge to a room with no LAN so I could connect a printer in - all worked fine Another 20 APs delivered yesterday so I come in to get started on the big rollout RDP into server - start Unifi controller - load up browser - says the 2 APs are down - big red over WLAN icon WTH!! Go and check - they are working fine - DH can print from wireless laptop to printer - I can http: to it and check its status - both APs ping OK WTH!!! Worse is that I can't ignore it as I've powered up a new AP and the controller isn't finding it either. So now got to work out why the controller doesn't seem to be working without disturbing the existing running bridged setup Looks like day 1 up the swannee! Sad Simon
  3. Tried that one but couldn't seem to install Java But I finally sinned - 8080 being used by sims doc server - just stopped it- ran unfi-stopped unfi-edited system.properties to new port numbers and restarted it and sims doc server I'll just plead it wasn't me!
  4. Trying to install unifi software on a server and getting the port 8080 in use error No problem I thought, just change port numbers in system.properties - problem is- there is no system.properties file Can't kill the process using 8080 as it's not my server/network and I'm just adding WiFi. Tried using the network discovery chrome app. Still no system.properties file. Tried my own hand built version, start up still fails talking about 8080 in use. I feel I'm in Catch22

  9. I've done a lot of work with Scratch to various devices such as Pi and Arduino and Codebug and Crumble So simple micropython prog listening on serial port - Big python prog on PC listening for Scratch broadcasts and translating them across onto USB off to the microbit. All very proof of concept - need to come up with sensible serial protocol on the microbit and then just adapt my Crumble stuff to it ScratchCrumble – Cymplecy (Simplesi)

  15. In aswer to all so far haven't got original disk so that's why it was virtualised JL only looks for "real" removable drives - it ignores c: Will try a bit of subst - I'd forgotton that ! 17. Got a prog (old Junior Lib) running on an XP virtual machine inside a Win7 host. The prog needs to read from USB stick using drive letters Win7 virtual machine only passes on the real USB drive (G: ) as a mapped network drive thinginmajig that the prog doesn't think is a real drive letter (and lets face it - its not wrong!) Anyone got a really cunning plan to get around this. No Google solutions (or I think this would work) accepted You must actually run an XP Virtual Machine on a Win7 host and prove it can be done Simon PS Can't wait for the standard irrelavent replies to flood in

  21. The Dark Lords recently upgrade Sims on bursar's machine (small primary) but said they couldn't do it on the 2nd laptop we use as it was win10 as that we wern't to use it until April upgrade Any REAL reason that I can't carry on using the Win10 machine (like it'll corrupt the database or something!) Simon
