One thing I will say, is that you need to make sure that the name of the new server is the same as the old one. We upgraded from 2003 to 2008 about 5 years ago and, due to licensing, we found we couldn't get it to run on a server with a different name.

Ho ho ho!! Actually, all this talk about bad Santa reminds me of an amusing anecdote. Several years ago, I asked the children in my Year 3 class to write a story about a bad Santa. One little girl had wanted to write, 'Santa came down the chimney and took all the presents.' Unfortunately, she wasn't a particularly good speller and wrote instead, 'Santa cam don the chimy an tuk a pis.' That's one bad Santa, in my book!

@VeryPC Al, can you please clarify whether you are: a) bad at impersonating Santa; or b) impersonating a bad Santa. If it's b, I hope you don't come round and steal all my stuff!

@MattDLEA - Gosh, I've not seen one of those in a while! As far as I know, SB500s don't need hardware calibration; that's for the cameras on the 800 series (although I may be wrong). I can't remember if it has a reset button or not, but on the 600s the reset button is near the bottom on the right-hand side of the board behind the frame. Here is the link for the support documents if that is any help to you. If not, I think it may be time to buy a new board. @talksr - If you're using an 800 series board, try replacing the nibs in the pens if they have become worn down. I know it sounds crazy, but that's worked for me on several occasions.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! Finally got this thing working exactly how I want it. Been struggling with it for days. The whole Environment Variable thing worked ok for redirecting the desktop, but no matter what I did, the Start Menu kept pointing at the user's roaming folder on the C: drive. So I changed tack: First, I created folders ..\profiles\desktops and ..\profiles\startmenus. Then I created student and staff subfolders in each, followed by more subfolders for the different locations, e.g. ..\profiles\desktops\students\suite1, and populated them with appropriate shortcuts. Once the folders were created, I added environment variables to the GPOs for the computers in each location, e.g. name="location" value="suite1" I then edited the folder redirection policies in the users' GPOs to point to, for example, ..\profiles\desktops\students\%location%. And it works!!! Thanks to everyone who offered ideas, especially @detjo. Although your instructions didn't quite work how they should have, in my case, it was the method of using environment variables that gave me the answer. StevieM = One Happy Bunny!
