  1. How's it going? Has the performance improvement stuck? Should we all be getting onto Wonde?
  2. This is what I love/hate about SIMS - when I have a problem with it, there's probably a thread about it on EduGeek from the dial-up era. In my particular case, the problem was my computer name was 16 characters, therefore the DNS record didn't match the NETBIOS name, which of course SOLUS3 uses because it is from the 90's at heart.
  3. Hi, Not sure if (a) this sort of post is allowed and (b) if this is the right place to put it, so feel free to slap my wrists...but this is a sort of Hail Mary anyway: Is anyone getting rid of an Avaya IP Office phone system in the near future? We have one and are trying to hold off on replacing it until the DfE rebuild our school, but in the interim as handsets die we have nothing to replace them with. Currently looking for a reliable supplier of refurbished handsets, but it occurred to me if there are any schools that are replacing their systems and dumping the old hardware that might be a perfect solution.
  4. That is disappointing! They are saying that the next update to the MDM will bring remote updating. So, for now, they're staying offline.
  5. Well...I guess that answers that.
  6. School bought a load of Clevertouch boards. More expensive than rival offerings, but I'm usually happy to pay extra for quality... As internet connected devices running Android, my assumption was that we would be able to enroll them into Intune. Nope. Clevertouch are keen to point out they have their own MDM - and it's free! Great! Let's try that. Device enrolled, let's check for the "Update Device" option. Nope. How do you keep your Clevertouch boards updated?
  7. I love it when I search for something on here and find a thread that I could have started, word for word. Did you get anywhere with this?
  8. First time using this software. We downloaded the tests (BMAT) last night. Just got a blank grey screen after clicking "OK" this morning. I'm guessing even if the test is download the client tries to "phone home" and this timed out and prevented the test from loading.
  9. Evening all. It's Saturday night on a bank holiday weekend so I'm hoping I'm not the only one working. I've got to create a new SDS profile (thanks tot he cleanup process not working as expected). Anyone know if Salamandersoft SDS sync supports the 2.1 CSV format?
  10. Yeah we've got the same problem. Using the new Edge. Works fine in Chrome, which is interesting. Our workaround is to either use Chrome or Sync OneDrive and add files via "Computer." Satchel:One wanted to say it was an Enterprise Apps permission problem in AAD. But, like I said, it works fine in Chrome.
  11. Hi! Just wondering if Microsoft ever came up with a solution for you? Anything you can share here?
  12. Thanks for this thread! Why don't we get notified about this sort of thing directly from Capita?

    nas suggestion

Hi Just wondering if you ever made a decision on this? I'm not looking for a similar product and would like to hear of your experience. Mark
  14. I appreciate the suggestion bossman. I'm certainly considering the virtualisation option...although I've had limited experience with that whole area I am keen to get to grips with it. (I've been running trials using Hyper V Server.)
  15. Well, RM have quoted me .....£4500 for the job! If all the engineer does is image from old to new I find that pretty insulting. Thanks for the advice here, since we absolutely do not have the budget to pay for RM, it looks like we'll be figuring it out ourselves.
  16. We have an old server running as a DC on a CC4 network. The RAM is failing so we are buying in a new server to replace it. What I want to know is can we install the RM components for a DC (not FRS) ourselves or do we have to pay to bring in RM to do it? I'm reluctant to spend hundreds of £'s for someone to come in and spend most of his time installing Server 2003 (which we can do) and setting it up as a DC (which we can do). Any help would be appreciated. RM took 2 weeks to get back to me and I'm still waiting on a quote.
  17. Hello folks! Well, we have SIMS Learning Gateway AND it's Learning to get used to this year. We've been experiencing some issues with the SIMS -> Lynchpin -> it's Learning route though. Namely, when the data is sent from SIMS to Lynchpin, two of the year groups are being sent as "9_1" and "10_1". Apparently this is something to do with the SIMS db, but I'm unsure what to say to Capita support. They have checked SIMS remotely and say everything is fine, but the data is still being sent wrong. I know, I hear you all saying "contact it's Learning support" or "contact Capita support" and this I have done. Many times. What's amazing to me is that I commented on it's Learning and literally 3 minutes later someone had replied on here. So I'm wondering if you guys can help?
  18. Can anyone help me out with some problems I'm having with Lynchpin? I'd love to comment on it's Learning, but so far we are stuck at the first hurdle.
  19. Let us know how you get on. I've been in contact with them, but am holding off on bringing them into the School as once SMT get involved they'll want to move forward quickly whereas I'm working on a longer term outlook. I'm sure you know how it is!
  20. Has anyone had any experience with DMSystem / their Netflow product? I went to a seminar of theirs down in Southend at the end of last year. It was very good, the product looks excellent. But I'd never heard of them before and I've not seen their product mentioned elsewhere. It fits in nicely with what I'd like to plan in the next 12 months, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with the product/company.

  22. You can find me as BigBurls. I play Halo3/ODST, Fifa 10 and Forza 3. When I get the chance.
  23. If I had a vanilla network and upgraded to a new Microsoft product which subsequently proved to be broken and I later found out that it had been released pre-completion with management consent...well...yes I probably would seek compensation. Wouldn't you?
  24. I don't mind you asking, the problem is..."where do I start?" A two day CC3 to CC4 upgrade became two weeks, which became the entire summer holiday, which ended up being the entire first half term, which ended up dragging on until the end of the year (but things rapidly improved when letters were sent via MPs and such). Our problem has not been with support - they have been very good - but rather with management in allowing a product they knew was not ready to be released into live school environments. Indeed!
  25. As part of that discussion it was suggested that we enquire from other schools to see how far they pressed compensation. This is perfectly valid, as there is no direct precedent that we can look to.
