You are just shooting in the dark unless you know what he wants. The trouble is he probably doesn't know... and he's too lazy to but some thought in to it. With out a clear list of requirements what ever you choose will be wrong (at least for someone) and you are set up to take the blame. Define the need (using a Change Advisory board), research options, score the options for suitability. Propose the two highest scoring options to the CAB with pro's and cons and let the people with the budget and authority choose.

Same tenant sure, Set up staff and student dynamic mailing lists (groups) which works well. The only issues we tend to have with people mailing the wrong person is when they have the same name. If that happens we append (pupil) to the name of the student.

The user will then have to log on with Domainname\DomainUsername. He'll need to log on as Computername\localUserName at home. So no, it will no longer be a standalone laptop as such. TBH, it would be much easier to build it as a CC4 laptops then give him Privileged user, Personal laptop registry policy and Standard (or no) Security. That way you can still make sure it's included in WSUS, AV updates and you can get it so sync his home directory but he can still install what he likes and override the proxy settings when at home.

That used to work in CC3 when RMMC was web-based. RMMC in CC4 is now an installed app and need a connection to the Postgress database on the forest root server. Personally I'd install it on a workstation somewhere else and let him RDP into it from his laptop.

You're better off working it out for yourself. Each consumable will give an approximate yield. Just make sure you've accounted for all the consumables (Drum, Fixer, Waste toner bottle, everything), work out the cost per sheet for each one and add them up. Some printers also have a maintenance cycle at say 100K sheets, make an allowance for that too. Then because the published yield can be a bit optimistic. I tend to work on 75% yield compared to what that manufacturer says.

20 minutes or 25% power remains, whichever comes first. Then gracefully shut down the servers. The thinking being that only short interrupts will be powered. We set it so that the servers shut down to conserve some power for the PoE switches and controller that serves the VIOP telephone system. Those and the core switch are the only ones on the UPS. This way the phones will work for as long as possible, until there is no power left in the UPS. The phones are considered and essential element of school operation, in this scenario they take priority even over the servers so that the emergency services can be called if required.

To echo what has already been said, consult your union. Make sure you are not being set up as a scape goat. On a more practical note, I would take the following approach; Assess every one with a dedicated PC an Monitor. For the roaming users take a two pronged attack. Assess each workstation. Make sure it meets all the environmental requirements, Lighting, temp etc. Then make sure it meets the technical requirements in a way that each user can adjust it to suit, Adjustable seating, Height adjustable monitor, space on the desk for left and right handed mouse users etc... Then you'll need 15 minutes of a whole school CPD session to explain that it's their responsibility to make the personal adjustments and what adjustments to make, but you'll be on hand to answer any questions. Health and safety is everyone's responsibility not just the H&S advisors. If you have buy-in from SLT you could even add it to the AUP that they do their own checks before using the computer, a bit like when you climb in to the drivers seat of a car. People hunch over them giving bad posture. Having to hold the device can cause stain too. The only mitigation for this is that they are used occasionally and for short periods. If you are doing video editing or green screen, by all means capture the images on an iPad and do some basic editing. But anything extensive need to be done on a desktop. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that this kind kind of policy is no longer relevant. Over the last 20 years you could see the sense in replacing PCs after 4 or 5 years, and laptops maybe a year sooner. These days there are more options and the way it is being used is evolving. Think, cloud services, tablets, Citrix/rdp, virtualisation, sdd drive prolonging the life of hardware. I no longer replace kit because of an arbitrary age is reached. We look at alternatives when it's bevoming no longer fit for purpose, unsupportable because of OS sopport or call analysis is showing that certain items or ranges if kit is not reliable any more.

What Licence do you need for Kindle? We use kindle Fires and because they are android they can be used for other things too. They are a doddle to manage via Meraki MDM. We also use RM books but haven't bought any books yet, but it's good for the 1000 free classic novels. The English Dept love that they can see how many hours the kids are reading for. Another good thing with the Kindle fires is that they DON'T have a camera...
