If you open the Inspector (F12) and look at the JS log, does it show anything.

Does anyone know a way to stop Windows 10 being "helpful" and installing apps for printers? I've got the "disable driver downloads through Windows Update" GPO applied, but the app still installs. Failing that, is there a way to suppress the notification that users get on logging in. It's just irritating! They don't need to be told "go see this printer app!".

I'd just turn CEM off for that user.

Ahhhh gotcha. Agreed re: not one-size-fits-all. I have absolutely nothing against cloud (we use plenty of cloud services here), just something against Govt. pushing something because its buzzwordy.

If it's about the potential safeguarding/DP implications of cloud services (e.g. data locations, etc.) then sure - if it's "move to the cloud because it'll make safeguarding easier" then some minister or other needs a fish slap.

Apparently the core stone structure was saved, but the roof and spire (which were wooden) burned/collapsed completely. Not beyond the wit and will of man to replace, but it's such a shame to lose something like that. The building itself was completed in 1340-something(!) I think, although the spire was replaced in the 1840s after it had become rotten and unstable. EDIT: A couple of French businessmen have pledged 200m Euros to the repair effort.

Are they using cached Exchange mode? We have oddities sometimes with users using cached mode - turning it off fixes it.

Here it'd be me authorising that, assuming that it's during the holidays and had been planned for (just in case people are expecting to work from home). A sudden request on the day would almost always get a "nope" unless it was an emergency (e.g. server room flood, fire, etc.) which would obviously trump anything else. If (for example) the HT told me to just shut them down, I would, but not without asking why and having the request in writing. That said, I know our UPSes can keep things running for about an hour, so if it was a short outage I might risk it and call it an unscheduled test...

You'd think so, wouldn't you? A quick check on EduBase2 "Get Information About Schools" would tell you if they were registered. Takes about 45 seconds (I just tested!).

I would hope that if the school has made the executive decision to move to 365 for storage, then a full transition plan would have been devised and the shared drives would be being phased out. In which case, yes, staff should follow the policies. Of course, I may be assuming too much planning and competence...

Why do SLT want staff using OneDrive? If the standard network drives work, allow staff to do their jobs, and don't cause any problems, then I'm with the users. It's a solution looking for a problem. If there's a genuine issue (e.g. old servers that need replacing, no money to replace, so the school wants to go with 365) then a plan needs to be devised. But SLT pushing cloud for cloud's sake will always fail IMO.

We use it for our FE college (i.e. post-18) courses - seems to work okay, no real complaints from the college team. Can't really comment beyond that, but I know they're not tearing their hair out using it.

That greatly depends on what it is to be honest - if after the training+implementation it can save (e.g.) ten minutes per day of paper admin, that will in the long-term save time.

30 MB, with the caveat that not everywhere else will have the same policies. People then say "well can't you change it"... oh yes I'll just hack their email server, won't be a minute...

As a short-term fix, I'd recommend a script on peoples' desktops that re-maps the home drive (if it's causing real problems). I'd be interested to know what the root-cause fix might be...
