Nope, too long winded! Also somewhat inaccurate as the general purpose is informing parents of their child(ren)'s progress or lack of it, rather than consulting them on anything. We couldn't use "Parent Information Evening" as that was the start-of-year event for parents of children joining the school.

My quandary is always about "Parents' Evening". Is it "Parents' Evening" as in "it is the parents' evening to meet with teaching staff", or just "Parents Evening" as in the descriptive "an evening involving parents". I always went with the former, after much discussion with a Headteacher* (and ex-English teacher) I used to work with. Some schools use "Parent's Evening", which to me doesn't sit right at all. There are multiple parents involved, so the plural must be used. * There's debate about this one too - is it "Head Teacher" or "Headteacher". The person in question here insisted on the latter!

I would want to know why. Not because "I'm IT you can't tell me how to run things", but I'd want to understand why they thought what they're proposing would be better for the school. There may well be a very good reason to do it (cost cutting would be the main one) - if so, we'd need to understand whether their plan would actually do it. I doubt many HTs would have the IT or project management knowledge to make that assessment.

I imagine your SIMS license is unconnected to the RBC - you should be able to stay on that contract with the LA. I'd recommend moving to your own Office 365 - no reason to force everyone to learn a new system.

I agree that a policy of disabling at the end of the summer, deleting next Easter is entirely sensible. Surely a Year 12/13 student applying to universities would have a non-school email account (they'd be 17/18 so old enough to have their own I think!) and be smart enough to use that rather than one linked to an institution they're imminently leaving? Might be worth having a word with your Sixth Form team and get them to remind students of this - they're gonna need a "proper" email account for other life admin, so might as well get one! Can even link it to an e-Safety PSHE lesson.
