If you redirect the Desktop to a folder under the home drive, nothing saved there will go to the local profile, solving the "staying-on-the-machine" issue. It doesn't solve the "files belong in the students' individual folders" issue, but then again there's nothing stopping them from just saving in the root of the home drive either. It's a partial solution worth considering at least.

Why not just redirect the user's desktop to a folder in their home drive and leave it at that? Stops issues with profile growth and replication and is super easy to implement. With that, there's no reason to stop users saving files on the desktop as they just end up in the home drive anyway!

Come on, if you ask a bunch of engineers the best way to do something you'll always get N+1 answers, where N is the number of participants! I agree that sometimes the simplest answers are best however!

Is this your own Office 365 tenancy, not done through a reseller or RBC?

My OH has banned me from collecting free pens as apparently "we have enough already!". This is probably true - she goes to a fair few conferences/trade shows and grabs freebies too, so we do have a large quantity of random pens. Notebooks, USB drives, mugs, etc. however....! Also, any pens I do collect can be given to the admin team in hopeful exchange for biscuits or chocolate!

Can we see a picture of/get a link to the devices you're using? There might be a way to make them work.

Vaguely annoyed that I can only go for one day this year (Friday), but I can't really complain - it's on account of having a new apprentice starting next week; it'd be unfair to leave him on his tod for two days in his first week! Did consider bringing him along, but he's got a lot of college induction stuff to do.

Usually as you say this would mean that one or more of the pins on the VGA connector isn't making contact. But if they're all doing it... Stupid question - if you use native VGA everything works? Do the IWBs have any other inputs (e.g. DisplayPort)?

I quite like Jodie as the Doctor (i.e. it's not her fault!), but as you say the writing is absolutely abysmal. Fan-fiction would be better. The 13th Doctor has next to no character, and the epic scale, interesting, unsettling and even downright scary stories that DW had before are no more.

I'd use an RPi and a bit of custom software - even just HTML/JS would do.

It certainly can't hurt to put in a proposal for next year. I'm probably nowhere near important enough to get picked though, nor do I really have any of that social media stuff (I have LinkedIn but barely use it)...

Do they have an open call for presenters, or do you have to be invited? Obviously not for this year, but I have a presentation on phishing and defense-in-depth against cyber-security threats that has gone down well internally and at some little gatherings, I wonder if it would be suitable for next year's show. Probably not education-focused enough though...

Quite right - "Must do better!". Although quite a few linguists seem to accept that the who/whom distinction is going the same way of you/thou as it serves little purpose.

Interesting, which is probably why our ex-English teacher HT used that one - he'd know that, he was a fountain of linguistic knowledge. IMO all subject names should be capitalised when used in the context of identifying the subject itself. (e.g. "Science" should be capitalised when talking about the Science Department or if listing all the A-Level subjects available for study, but not in "the science behind flight" for instance)

Our one here has said effectively "I do not care as long as it is consistent". It's "Head Teacher" on all school materials/signage so that's what she uses.
