  1. Take a look at R1Soft we are using it to backup all our servers, no complaints so far!
  2. Sounds like they need to outsource the management of their web hosting services.
  3. I think are are asking which hosting control panels people prefer, rather than Windows or Linux Hosting (lets not start that debate!). The poll does not really make much sense. We use Plesk for our Linux services and Helm for our Windows services. cPanel is more aimed at small hosts who want to concentrate on single server set-ups IMO. Plesk in conjunction with Plesk Expand allows us to centrally manage our infrastructure from geographically dispersed DNS servers, centralised mail and DB servers, a single login area for customers and so on. It basically allows us to have a centralised hosting network which makes security, backups & management much easier than single server set-ups. Helm for Windows is an out of the box multi-server control panel, and again lets us centrally manage everything and provide a fully clustered network. My choice: Linux - Plesk Windows - Helm
  4. Take a look at Home Contact, it's run by one of our clients.
  5. Thanks Guys. Gareth feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. We can accept a purchase order/invoice your school directly for any of our services if required. We are not in a position to offer a free service, I'd not recommend any free web hosting service for a school considering the cost of some "proper" hosting is very small.
  6. Yep, used it a few times. McDonald's takes free WiFi mainstream • The Cloud
  7. Computer: Office machine Desktop Res: 1680x1050 Wallpaper: Default Vista Wallpaper Theme: Aero Running Apps: Firefox, Word 2007, Windows Messenger, mRemote Not very exciting...
  8. AFAIK the 123Reg hosting packages don't support PHP/MySQL so you won't have much look running Moodle.
  9. Your web hosting provider should be able to install the package for you if you ask nicely. After the initial install AFAIK it's just like using a standard Joomla install, there are many quick start guides on-line for using Joomla: http://help.joomla.org/ghop/feb2008/task048/joomla_15_quickstart.pdf
  10. All the sub-pages on the site give a 404...
  11. You just need to the IP address to where /mymail should point too. Then from Plesk just create an A record i.e. mymail.domain.com to point to the IP.
  12. Nothing planned, apart from 2 weeks worth of bookkeeping to complete the VAT return
  13. If you open a ticket we are more than happy to get this sorted for you.
  14. Yes, you can use any version. But we do recommend using the latest version of Joomla at all times for your own security. We only support Sharepoint on dedicated servers.
  15. We have been in business 3 years now, we are a debt free business and have been profitable every single year. We are also VAT registered so we do have quite a substantial turnover and we aren't going anywhere just yet. Feel free to email sales with any additional questions (I think you contacted us earlier).
  16. Thanks for the recommendation!

  18. Take a look at SmarterMail it has many Exchange like features, anti virus/spam 'out of the box', an amazing admin & user interface and the pricing isn't bad either.
  19. The domain has been transferred away from 1and1, however it's still pointing to them. You need to change the nameservers on the domain to point your new host, they should provide you with a control panel to do this. Whois Search - Domain name whois
  20. The address/contact details on our website & WHOIS are fully valid
  21. Just a little reminder, you need a postal address & contact telephone number on your site as per the distance selling regulations - it's a legal requirement. http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft698.pdf What happens if your server goes down while you are at work in your IT Tech role? Or 3am on a Sunday morning? Good luck,
  22. A cheaper alternative to Exchange is SmarterMail
  23. This is actually normal practice in the hosting industry, and we have the same policy. If you have a credit/debit card on file and have not switched off the option for automatic renewal the domain will be automatically renewed. We do send plenty of reminders before the renewal though. Automation all the way!
  24. Kev, Please open a support ticket - the IP address provided is not correct for what you need.
  25. Just make sure you find a provider that gives you plenty of notice about IP address changes
